enjoy: getting all the steel from our old central air and furnace out of the garage today. and to top it all off, coming 60 lbs short of the 500 lb minimum needed to get paid, and getting 48 bucks for it anyway because the woman behind the counter decided it was close enough.
New jobs=excitement, $$$$, learning, exhaustion from all the excitement and learning.
I had a floating holiday I had to take or lose it so I'm taking this Friday. That leaves 3 days left this week and two next week. Then it's onto new beginnings.
I am glad there are options for health care in between one job ending and the bennies kicking in on the new one, but that one month will cost us about $1300!!!!
The good thing is that the better money and the paying out of my unused vacation will make that much easier.
Survived Vegas - total spent on 5 days there.. $200. yes really. Did everything, went everywhere - amazing. Got drunk with one of the members of Bel Biv diveaoux (sp?) and ended up at a private party with Nicky Hilton. Missed partying with Prince by 15 minutes, but met a clothing designer, and came home with a beautiful new dress and shirt from his botique.
The parts I remember of the trip were amazing... the parts I can't remember - I'm sure were good too.
Thing I don't enjoy - HUGE bruse on my butt - Not sure how I got it, think it was when someone tried to throw me up on the stripper pole in the middle of the pool - or it could have been when I got tackled by a 250lb guy in the middle of the monsoon rainstorm/impromptu frisbee game.
I haven't had to solder anything since Jr. High shop class...
This weekend I had a plumbing snafu trying to get the water line hooked up to the icemaker on the new fridge. No, I DID turn the water main off - so no floating furniture at least, but when trying to unscrew a bad valve, I snapped off the pipe inside the wall. I think I actually cried for a second.
I had to purchase a soldering kit, chunk of pipe and some drywall repair stuff - five hours and LOTS of cursing later - the new water line was in place, the drywall repaired and the spackle was drying around the hole. Probably cost less than $100 for the equipment, versus paying a plumber $250 just to show up.
One of my favorite family quotes:
From my youngest brother (about 5 at the time) to my father:
"I'd like to help you fix that, Dad... But I don't think I know the words."
I forgot to mention the 5-6 round trips to the Home Depot. I've still got to go back one more time to exchange out a few miscellaneous nuts and bolts that were the wrong size, etc...
Leaving today for our two week vacation to OH, NY and ME. We are driving out, can you say two day car trip. I've got lots of activities to bring with us and of course I love technology so we have a DVD player and 2 DS's. The last time I made this same road trip the kids was two years ago and the kids were easier to please back then so it should be interesting but I know we'll survive and have a great time with my Sister!
I should be in bed. I'm so jazzed though I don't know that sleep will come easy tonight.
You get your rest so the next piece of good news is that you are through the surgery and on the road to recovery.
U r 2
I don't wanna know what you had to kiss to get that offer though...
