Love the work prank. What did Google do? I went there a bunch of times yesterday and didn't see anything. Was it during the search? I seen YouTube was 1911 but that's about it/ Ely didn't even do much this year.
Someone in a forum I go to posted that on the 1st and I quit watching when I saw the diagrams and heard the word spatial, so I didn't realize it was an April Fools Day joke. I figured it was too technical for me. lol
I wish this had been a joke. On April 1st a lender mistakenly withdrew over $19,000 from my checking account. It's the balance on a land loan that is supposed to mature in May. I already have an appointment tomorrow to extend the loan, but in the mean time I have no access to my checking account or ATM and I've already accrued penalties on other payments that are automaticall taken out of that account because I DIDN'T HAVE AN EXTRA $19,450.44 IN MY CHECKING ACCOUNT! I expect to hear from my bank early tomorrow morning, as this happened over the weekend.
I wish that my not getting paid Friday was an April Fools joke. They are 0-for-4 in paying me on time. I'm trying to pay back loans I took out to make this move, but it is tough when the payments come due just on or after a payday, so I end up paying the minimum - AGAIN - just to ensure I don't drain my account dry. I'd also like to transfer the rest of my monthly automatic payments over to my new checking account, but can't until I know I have enough in each account to cover, in case it takes longer than 30 days to get the new automatic payment in place. I am officially looking for something else, work-wise, as of last Friday.
Thanks, Mikey. Fortunately, a few days delay isn't going to break the bank, although when I first moved and started my job, that was NOT the case, and I was constantly juggling money to keep from overdrafting my accounts. Of course, employers don't get how stressful that is! If they want productively, they would do better to not stress out their employees over when/whether they are going to get paid. I do believe I am valued by many of my co-workers, but I think I need to take this late pay thing up a level, since my immediate supervisor is apologetic but not real proactive when this happens.
Thanks Mikey. The funny thing is, I have closing costs on this newly financed loan that I can't even write a check for tomorrow because I'm overdrawn, even beyond my overdraft protection. Maybe that fact will spur them on to return the money they erroneously took out.
I feel your stress, Eags. But misery loves company they say.
It shows up as having gone through when I check my account online. Everything is done electronically these days, and since it came out over the weekend I expect a phone call from my bank first thing this morning.
We have banked with this bank since 1962 when it was just a hole in the wall bank down near Annapolis on Robert St. West St. Paul Bank is now Anchor Bank and they've moved up Robert, but they still call me by name when I walk in. I'm really embarrassed by the whole thing as much as anything. I intend to ignore the phone call this morning and let my lender make the phone call to clear this up and return the money ASAP.
One of my daughters stopped yesterday with orange juice, milk and yogurt covered pretzels she had bought me. She was worried I didn't have enough cash on hand until this is cleared up and wanted me to have my favorite things in the house. And she threw in a quart of strawberries she thought I might like. I graciously accepted the items because it was such a sweet gesture.
I have an 11:00 appointment with the lender today. I'll let you know how that goes down.
OT, don't you just love Anchor Bank (most of the time)?
I walked in there after ten years away and both Kathy and Rhonda remembered me by name immediately. Rhonda helped me open my checking account and the next time I came in, she had seen my contribution to Bulletin Board and told me how excited she was to realize that was me - she's been reading my posts there for years.
I banked there for 22 years before moving away (most of my adult life, certainly all of my grown-up life).
I hope everything gets straightened out for you quickly today.
I'll bet the bank will be far more embarrassed about this - you didn't do anything wrong!
Well, Anchor Bank called at 8:09. Guess who called? Rhonda! Yes, I love Rhonda. She said when she saw this withdrawl she figured something wonky happened because she can't recall me ever being overdrawn before, much less overdrawn by over $15,000. Anchor Bank is cancelling the transaction. Shortly after I hung up with Rhonda, the fellow from CorTrust phoned. "Everything's automized, computer doesn't know the difference between a $1 payment and $1,000,000 payment, blah, blah, blah". But they will pay my fee for the cancellation and Anchor Bank is removing my overdraft fees from the items that have already cleared. Whew!
i've had a few times when paying chase that their damn web site moves the button around for "this payment" amount to "pay full balance" on me. its very shocking the next day when there's no cash in the checking account because of the "pending" payment that went electronically. i've called the bank and they've told me that there's no way it would have cleared with the overdraft amount, and always had it stopped (and then a phone call to chase because of their user-unfriendly web site in that regard), which is why i thought it was surprising that it looked like it had gone through. different banks do things differently i guess.
Pay deposit was received electronically at 8:27AM today. My company claims they processed this payment on Friday. I don't believe them. Bank says electronic payments ALWAYS come through the same day. I e-mailed our AP department and asked them specifically what date and time the payment was processed. I'll bet they can't lie their way out of that one!
My business was all taken care of today, but the drama didn't end when I pulled up to Cortrust Bank. The building was empty and the doors were locked. I didn't have anything with a phone number to call so punched in 411 and got put through. They told me they'd moved from that location a year ago! Haha! I got directions to the new place and was only about 10 minutes late.
I'm glad you finally got your check, Eags. Sure would be nice to know when to expect it though, wouldn't it? Yes, something sounds fishy about that. I know from this experience that deposits/withdrawls occur on the same day as posted.
From anything I could figure out, I think they'll be posting more as they go along, probably through the entire production. It would be interesting to watch a movie progress through all the stages, practically in real time. I've never done that before. I'm also not sure if that's a new concept, or if Peter Jackson is just gracious enough to let people watch the process unfold. Or if it's just some marketing ploy to gain popularity/advertising for the movie with a very minimal investment.
well whaddya expect? lucas *is* a marketing genius.
and so are the folks at warner bros. who are managing to sell 7/8 complete box sets of harry potter. geez. who in their right mind would buy a box set now, knowing that in a few months tha last part will be out and part 8 will be, you guessed it, not part of their set.
Late evenings, browsing the web, listening to some music, logged into a friends computer remotely trying to fix a windows update error while they're off sleeping, nobody bothering me.
I think that's why I got interested in computers years back. They always act rational, there are clear reasons for why they have problems. Sure, it might take time to diagnose and fix them, but in the end, you can repair most any issue.
No offense, but it's work best done when the user isn't there bugging you with questions or backseat driving.

most work is like that. there's an old sign for hourly job rates, starting at the base rate and doubling if you want to watch. doubling again if you want to help, and doubling again if you've done it before.
that's gonna be the hardest thing for me when we have the ceiling and roof taken care of. i'm rather hands on with that sort of thing, and while i will be doing the electrical myself, everything else will be done by someone else. i guess its a good thing i'll be at work throughout the process
call me ignorant but what's the difference between that and a guitar, or is it just a really small guitar?
our enjoy: the insurance adjuster approving the fixing of "rich", the ceiling crack in the kitchen resulting from the broken truss above it, named after the coolerhead whose crack we've all seen way too much of
yeah, ambien specifically isn't intended for long term use because of that. people have also reported sleepwalking and sleep-driving on it and of course, don't mix it with booze.
the twins with a politcal twist...
I just knew they had something important to discuss
Happy Saturday! Happy Spring!

There are so few movies I deem worthy of spending money to go see at a theater, but this one tops the list of ones I need to see.

Both are marketing whores er I mean geniuses
