Sometimes it seems that there is no end to the repercussions of losing one's spouse. Its painful enough to have to close the joint account, painful when the last check with both names is used up, and then to take away the overdraft protection is like rubbing salt in the wound.
And the people who don't ensure the transitions are less painful won't understand, unless and until they walk in these shoes someday.
Thanks Eags - I hear ya. I tried to cash a check for our roof replacement and they couldn't do it because it was made out to both of us because we were both on the policy during the claim process. I'm working with them and they're pretty understanding, but it is a bit of a pain on certain things you forget about.
I signed up to have her name removed from all mail with these sites that are specific to deceased people, and the amount of junk I receive for her never decreased one bit. In fact, I think it increased. :eyeroll:
My mother and father still get mail. My father died in 1980 and my mother in 1998. My mother still gets alumnae newsletters from St. Cloud State. She graduated in 1918. :eyeroll:
Definatly talk to the bank manager. They can, and do, waive fees. If they tell you they don't they're lying.
I had that problem once. I had opened another account because my old one was compromised. Then the checks bounced because they cashed one big check (over 3000) and bounced all my other smaller checks intead of just bouncing one check. And all this because they didn't credit my account properly. The 1st guy I talked to said they couldn't do any thing so I talked to the bank manager. When he reveiwed my complaint he stated that I had just had an acc there 2 years. I corrected him and told him that I had just opened this acc 2 yrs ago but had been there 18 years. Suddenly everything was cool and all the fees waived.
I've got just about everything taken care of off my credit report, including getting commitments in writing from all of the deliquencies because of my surgery/not dying last year to have all of it removed from my credit report. My student loan is backdating to June, so that'll take care of that...now I just have to be PATIENT and wait it all out. GRR!!!
I think Mr. Peepers, my parakeet, is dying. :frown:
I heard him fall off his perch and he's standing on the bottom of his cage and doesn't seem to be able to get up. I don't know what to do. I'd like to reach in and hold him but I think that would stress him out. He isn't a bird that liked being handled.
My cat has been sitting on the arm of the chair closest to his cage since this happened. He is looking up at the cage even though he can't see Mr. Peepers. It's like he senses something.
I've considered calling the vet but I'm sure she'd want me to bring him in and I really doubt there's anything to be done for him. I think he'd be more comfortable in his own little home than taken in a box and be all stressed out. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong.
He's quite young. Only seven years old. They have a life span of 15-25 years.
irritates: everything just seeming a lil back wards today - the weather not cooperating. bins of grapes coming in wrapped to protect from rain- grapes coming in in the wrong order. people not knowing necessary info. etc.
Thank you all very much. I can't tell you how it helped to have people to talk to when this was happening. I'm a softie when it comes to my pets, even if its just a bird.
I'm feeling better now and actually am glad I was able to hold him and not just wake up and find him on the bottom of the cage.
yeah, we are ok, I didn't even know anything happened....I slept right through it, got up and my clocks were flashing and gordy told me we had a nasty storm.
I've been working on returning a computer that my boss was all too quick to want ordered. Now it's my job to get it returned and the charges on the credit card taken off.
It's been two weeks, I've had multiple calls and emails from Dell, and the UPS guy refuses to take packages, even though I printed off a return label from the UPS website. The other part we sent back from a UPS store, that gave us some odd number that doesn't work for tracking, but Dell calls me, 3 times a day, to get a tracking number I don't have and can't get.
 I will never order another computer or part for this place. I don't care who my boss hires. They can work with pen and paper for a month or two before I've decided they'll actually stick around and make it worth my time.
FINALLY getting my car back after 3 months sitting at the dealer waiting for a fricken headlight, only to find out it not only cost me over $800 but I get home and park it on my front lawn to show it off and notice that it has extensive hail damage!~
Does anyone know if I can make the dealer pay for all of it or at least my deductible?
That sucks. :frown: I'd insist they pay for it and file with THEIR insurance company. They had to know that it was damaged. I'm sure it wasn't the only one at the dealership it happened to either.
It's not like you don't have pictures of it before you took it in showing its condition
Can you go to a weather site or call the National Weather Bureau to find out what dates it hailed where ever the dealership is located? You park it in a garage at home and at work, right?
I baby my car more than my kid. It hasn't seen any real elements in years. And you're right about me having plenty of pictures for the 'before' side.
I'm guessing it happened during last night's storm. We didn't get any real hail here other than some pea sized for a minute or two but I did see pictures of how big the stuff was west of Mpls where my car was. I don't think I'd have any problem proving it got damaged while in their possession. It was outside in their lot through all three hail storms this summer.
I'm thinking I should call the dealer first before even mentioning it to my insurance company. But, then again, I know if the dealer takes care of it, it'll be done so cheaply that I see it peeling in a year just as the warrantee runs out. If my insurance pays for it and they pay the deductible, I can take it anywhere.
Ideas on who does nice paint work?
BTW TV - The boys from Beisell fought on my behalf (and theirs) to score me another $500 so they could do my roof because the adjuster came in so low.
They'll start as soon as I get my supplement check.
CM - I'm so sorry about your car. That does suck big time!
For what it's worth, I'd be inclined to let my insurance company fight with the dealer.I'd certainly call them before calling the dealer. They should have the know how to fight on your behalf.
Which Beissel boys are you dealing with? Josh? At least I think I remember that being the name of the guy we dealt with. Say hi from the Valentines next time to talk to them.
Irritation: Finally Fridays don't last long enough.
Still on hold with Cadillac Customer Service waiting to connect with the dealership for a conference call to see what they can do for me as far as paying my deductible. I think it's gonna be a battle of sorts.
And the people who don't ensure the transitions are less painful won't understand, unless and until they walk in these shoes someday.
Hugs, CM. Everyday.
You can't get the protection with your new account?

I am very sad. I feel helpless.
adorable name too
He's quite young. Only seven years old. They have a life span of 15-25 years.
I took him out of his cage a little while ago and held him and petted him until he started to struggle and then put him in a shoe box on a soft towel.
He just died. It's really a relief not to have to watch him anymore and feel so helpless.
I am really glad held him though.
ooooooh ot :frown:
Wow. that was quick. At least he didn't suffer. He's in a better place.
And learn to fly again
And learn to live so free
And when we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up
And let us in
Take these broken wings
You got to learn to fly
And learn to live so free
And when we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up
And let us in

That's exactly why you should have pets.
sorry about Mr. Peepers :frown: I hate losing pets.
 But then who doesn't...
I'm feeling better now and actually am glad I was able to hold him and not just wake up and find him on the bottom of the cage.
Thanks again for caring.
even if its just a bird
It's a pet and you have feelings for it, that makes it more than just a bird.
