Ah yes, I suppose maybe not everyone has been around long enough to remember when the cluewriter used to dress up as James Goodhue and make videos about the hunt. So Goodhue is indeed the person they are referencing and there is a Goodhue County in MN. I looked at a list of other counties in MN to see if any stood out as parks. There was Rice of course, though I can't believe it would be there. I can't recall if that was ruled out this year. There is also an Otter Tail county which could be a reference to Bald Eagle/Otter Lake. That's certainly more realistic for a hunt with little to no snow. Seems odd they would give it to us so blatantly so early. But it is a big park.

I like the Vexatious - flag thing idea...sounds appropriate they would take a current big event and use it. Old and New - An older park, but new part of it, a new addition to an old park? An old way of hiding it, but in a new area? Not in a park, a city street perhaps? Old Mailbox shenanigans comes to mind...1st clue noodles, are so...thought provoking. What Does Jesus Mean by “Kick Against the Goads”?
“Apparently, ‘to kick against the goads’ was a common expression found in both Greek and Latin literature—a rural image, which rose from the practice of farmers goading their oxen in the fields. Though unfamiliar to us, everyone in that day understood its meaning.
“Goads were typically made from slender pieces of timber, blunt on one end and pointed on the other. Farmers used the pointed end to urge a stubborn ox into motion. Occasionally, the beast would kick at the goad. The more the ox kicked, the more likely the goad would stab into the flesh of its leg, causing greater pain.”
And so it begins...
At last it's time for vexatious rhyme To goad you to fortune and fun Here's a clue: something old something new Off you go! The race has begun
I think David is spot on - Something old- something new in that light could be a “what’s it in” clue - which aren’t that helpful that early on. Could be wrapped in two flags, an old one and a new one. Alternatively- vexing rhymes and something old/ something new could mean we are getting new spins on old clues. This could be troublesome in the Google-age of the hunt- folks would find the old clues and be brought to the wrong place. Here’s hoping it’s not that lol On Sat, Jan 20, 2024 at 9:29 AM Allison Wonderland via groups.io <AllisonWondrland=yahoo.com@groups.io> wrote:

It is hard to ignore the fact that with all of the business about the state flag this last year, the study of flags is called vexillology and they used the word vexatious. It would seem a flag is somehow involved.
I think I'm going to go all in on Linwood to start. It would be new because it's never been there but old because it was found near there back in 1968. good enough for clue 1. lol
The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
