Been working on a theory: S is for Snail Lake Regional Park
I think this is a tribute hunt for Herb Howe One of the very first legends in snowmobile racing – and an ambassador of the sport – has died at the age of 91.
Herb Howe won the very first super-endurance race in snowmobiling: the 457-mile cross-country International 500 from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1966.
I thought about other tribute hunts, and I believe 2015 was one of them.
I think in the description of it on Cooler Crew it talks about disgrace in a funny way, Congratulations go to Steve Worthman, The Map Guy, and well-known writer of The Treasure Hunter's Guide, for cracking the clues and picking up the ice-encased chunk of rags which encased the medallion. In addition to the new member of the Cooler Crew Hall of Fame, we also add Coldest Hunter, Steve Sanftner, to the Wall of Shame, for inadvertently turning over the block of ice and throwing it in Mappy's direction.
I went out there yesterday and this morning, found an orange cone stuck in the ice but no medallion. The parking lot is closed off in one area so the people can sled down the hill. The snow is thick and well its cold too.
If the puck is buried in the 1966 spot, the year of Herb's conquest that would be Harriet Island.
Thanks. The Winter Carnival Scavenger Hunts start this morning so I was up most of the night getting those ready and didn't get to posting the new clue.. I believe this clue is telling us Victoria St. though that doesn't really narrow it down between Como and Central. There is a Rose St. that goes into Como by Victoria so I imagine we'll be getting a rose clue next! David

My last two messages did not go through. Anyways I have been at Como today and yesterday. Today there were a lot more hunters. The biggest crowd was on the south side of the lake, but I saw a few all over. My post this morning said to recheck the Como Town kiddie rides. The Pirate ride convinced me over Central Park. Both parks had Oxford, Churchhill and Lexington streets to name a few. The snow is very difficult to dig in so I believe this hunt could go a long time. The snowbanks are also rockhard. It has been hard digging.... Good luck to all!
were getting fat with all these high carb noodles! Good work crew

I'm looking back at scrounging through sticks and cones. It seems now that there's an obvious answer to that. It's on the ground under a bunch of sticks and pine cones. So probably in an area with some pine trees.
What's crazy about this hunt is that the same streets line up with Roseville's Central Park! I've been waffling between the two parks. Plus, the "Right Stuff" clue points to Central Park's rocket ship.
WOW! A great find. There are a lot of pine trees around the walking paths by the memorial because my grandson and I do pine cone hunts there. Also, another little tidbit. The lead singer of the band, MUSE lived on Lake Como Italy for 10 years. hahaha. Gotta love trivia.

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
