Phalen Park has a chain of lakes (find the chain) and one of them is Round Lake . . there are 'rounds' in boxing . . maybe a stretch, but just a thought. Down the road there is Gustavus Adolphus church (glory) and Johnson High School (cap and gown). Going north from there is an archery range ("mark", also "match" and even "glove" I suppose). There is a statue titled "Meditation" . . (follow your muse).

What do you think of Cherokee park? There was a cyclone that took out the high bridge in 1904.
No cap and gown in sight though for that area.I mean a high school or college

Waltz in the park speaks Como to me and the Pavilion, or could be another park that participates in the Music in the Park series.

Definitely seems to be another boxing reference. I thought of the boxing club near Phalen also, but it is kind of a ways from the park. A search on Minnesota famous boxers will bring up Tommy Gibbons and the Flanagan brothers, but I can't seem to make them fit to any park.

What to do when "knees buckle"? Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation = RICE.
Rice Street runs North and South from Vadnais Heights in the North to the Capitol grounds in downtown St. Paul.
I hope that helps narrow down the hunting grounds for some of us.
I'm a nurse, so I saw that one fairly quickly...

Waltz in the park:  It's not uncommon to hear this type of music being played in the pavilion on Como Lake.
Meet your match:  could be referencing a sporting event or perhaps marriage. There are several spots in Como Park where ceremonies or photographing of wedding parties take place.

An idea, you used to strap on baseball gloves, and it was a very formal event to attend, caps and gowns, ripe for the catch could be a baseball,
And maybe chain in earlier clue could be a fence.

Just a though or many

Last thought on Como for today. Could East and West mean Asia and America/Europe? Near Lake Como there is Nagasaki Road (formerly Gateway Drive, originally Lake drive) that curves near a fishing dock. That road is right across the football field of the Como senior high school. Funny enough, the Nagasaki Road used to be named for a road on Harriet Island. "This road was originally named in 1965 by the City Council on Harriet Island. The name was a tribute to Nagasaki, Japan, sister city of Saint Paul. The street was vacated in 1994 when the flood levee around Harriet Island Regional Park was refashioned.”

I don't know that anyone should get on the Como train just yet. But it is worth checking the route and departure times.

Also, the soccer fields use to be called East and West, but I feel like that area has a broom ball league going on now during winter.

Some good noodles.

another potential como connection would be “wintry zone” meaning the ski area at como.

That said Battle Creek has a new cross country ski course with artificial snow making that might make a connection as well.

It saying the CW would direct folks to those OOB areas, but rather those could be park identifying clues .

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
