I walked some of the paths today and along Kaufman Dr. and that whole area by the frog pond and up by the Japanese garden and Hamm's waterfall has quite a few pine trees. I didn't have time to do much other than walk the paths, but I think you are right. The snow is all very crunchy and deep right off the paths. I was thinking.....I bet it isn't buried in the snow. Someone will probably kick it if it isn't in a tree.  :)

Just going over past clues, (thanks for reposting) All this talk about tough digging, its a nightmare, right? but clue 4 has me thinking crook of tree? Clinging to a branch?.... looking up to see the object ripe, darn skippy you see that in a tree you are picking that! THE object! ...Clue 5 tells me in the thick part of the sticks and brush area pines near too.... Get in there and scrounge in that stuff and look up my friends, it may not be in the snow...!Mike
Clue #7
Buddy you're a big star, got a name to go far
Killing it down where they park the car
But you lied to their face, became a big disgrace
Better pack up and get outta this place

And the previous clues:

Clue #6
Stop all your prattle, you were born for battle
Defend your liberties and rights
Be ever so bold to seize silver and gold
By keeping the prize in your sights

Clue #5
Have you the right stuff to seek diamond in rough?
Then scrounge through stick and cone
If you want a big thrill look for a hill
To spy a treasure to own

Clue #4
If treasure's your mark, take a waltz in the park
Be ready to meet your match
Strap on your glove, look up above
For an object ripe for the catch

Clue #3
A bomb cyclone hit our wintry zone On the chin, buckling our knees Get up at your leisure to seek our fine treasure Find fortune and live life of ease

Clue #2
Descend from your perch, set out to search
East Side, west side, all around the town
Glory will reign when you find the chain
To go with your cap and gown

Clue #1
The viral pandemic is now endemic And the battle’s on for Ukraine Take a break from the news to follow your muse
And tackle these rhymes with your brain

I think someone else mentioned this already, but "We gotta get out of this place" is a song by The Animals, so that could also be a Como reference.

So Rose mentioned the song "The Sidewalks of New York" because the second line of Clue 2 seems to be taken from it directly. But Clue 4 also seems to allude to it making it hard to ignore.

Down in front of Casey's old brown wooden stoop
On a summer's evening we formed a merry group
Boys and girls together we would sing and waltz
While the Guinea played the organ on the sidewalks of New York

East Side, West Side, all around the town
The tots sang "ring-around-rosie," "London Bridge is falling down"
Boys and girls together, me and Mamie O'Rourke
Tripped the light fantastic on the sidewalks of New York

That's where Johnny Casey, little Jimmy Crowe
Jakey Krause, the baker, who always had the dough
Pretty Nellie Shannon with a dude as light as cork
She first picked up the waltz step on the sidewalks of New York

Things have changed since those times, some are up in "G"
Others they are wand'rers but they all feel just like me
They'd part with all they've got, could they once more walk
With their best girl and have a twirl on the sidewalks of New York

So some people are taking that and thinking Central Park must be the NY connection. Possibly. It does share some of the same streets as Como and "the right stuff" could allude to the rocket ship. I'm sure you fit some other things there also. But I'm also thinking the song twice mentions "Casey". Casey was a famous gorilla at the zoo for a long time, and could be what the cluewriter is hinting at, so there could be a Como connection there.

Looking at a map of Roselawn Cemetary, I noticed that Oxford, Victoria, Lexington, Chattsworth (prattle) streets are nearby Pioneer park (take a break from the news (press). Could it be defend your liberties and rights are about freedom of the press from the bill of rights/amendments?

Going back to all around the town = Oliver Towne. He worked for the Dispatch which merged with the Pioneer Press. He wrote a book City on Seven Hills, 7 men crewed the Mercury Mission (right stuff) and Mercury Queen reference.

Noodling is hard, I'm mentally crawling through deep snow with a million tabs open on my computer.

Oh, dear rabbit hole. The unfortunate salesman who was shot and later died was buried at Roselawn Cemetery. You know who else is buried there? Herb Brooks, who led USA as coach to Gold and Silver. Back to the New York reference, he coached he NY Rangers.

This all seems to obvious for como from clue 1.  Last time I was right from clue 1 was 2014 which I think was last time it was at como. Super cold and a ton of snow. I was out of state that year, this year I can't really look. Since it's a big park and so much snow easy to put it there and be giving away at start

Regarding Christmas, Burl Ives has a song titled Silver & Gold. There also another XMAS song with silver and gold.

Forgot about them kidnapping hamm, but my thought when I mentioned them is here they had just robbed a back and we're coming back to st.paul stopped in como park and killed a Christmas wreath sales man. They pulled in the road that runs past como town and parked in the lot right next to it...I think it was referred to as the Christmas massacre...I believe they were also the ones who kidnapped bremer also

If we're going with leave Como,

The skeleton of Charlie Pitts, a member of the notorious James Gang, was found in the bottom of Como Lake (once called Sandy Lake). Apparently, a Dr. Henry Hoyt had submerged the skeleton to bleach it for display.

Is this the lie talked about, because it wasn't actually his body.

The 2004 treasure hunt explained had some great information, the puck that year was found in Orchard Park. Perhaps orchard is a link to ripe for the catch? Is CW pulling from past hunts?
