well, if cipher means to find the hidden meaning within, it makes sense. and it was there the 2nd year of the hunt(1953) when they had two chests hidden (the other was the state capitol(oops) Fair.)
Yeah, but while there were two treasures during that second year, the Cherokee one was found second. So no matter if you count the year or the turn it was found, it still would be #2. No real dispute as to 2 or 3.
That year they had two treasures, the Cherokee was found first. That would make it the 2nd treasure found ever. Not the third. So the 2 or 3 doesn't really seem to fit.
I think the dispute is more like "was it the 2nd and 3rd hunt or just the second?", "is it counted as 2 hunts or 1?" . There was a little talk a couple years ago when it was the 50th anniv. about how many hunts there were and if it was the 50th or 51st.
Well what I'm saying is that if it is Cherokee, it wouldn't matter. It would be the second hunt regardless. If you go by the second hunt constituting the year, it was held in the second year of the hunts. If you go by the quantity and chronological order, it was the second hunt also. So Cherokee shouldn't really be disputed as 2 or 3.
I haven't heard any ideas I like better for this clue, and besides a few small parks (because of my link posted on other invitational board) Cherokee's at the top of my list.
Another thing. If they supposedly want to make this hunt better and go longer, why would they name a park specifically in the fifth clue? I could see maybe Como, but Cherokee isn't that big, and with no snow, if everyone's there, it wouldn't take too long to find it I would think.

I don't know that I buy Cherokee either - but I like the noodle as it's the park I picked for Allison's hunt pool. Cherokee is certainly larger than some parks in the city.
Kellogg has merit depending on how one noodles these clues but it is a very small park - especially without snow. If I were the cluewriter, I'd be afraid to put it out in a park that small - especially after last year's short hunt.
Hopefully the next clue will narrow the choices down a bit.
the 'triple E' being shoe like TENNIS shoe that you would wear on the tennis court
what about that shoe we found during the MOCK! maybe its still there.
I like the idea of that game kids play of 'your getting warmer" - so I like staying away from the storm sewer system area (cause you would be 'cold' there, not warm... being away from the west end of the park.
and there is a door to the tennis court open OR the "dead" end is the way to enter the park -
faith anew- could be cause the Cathedral had work done on it and it looks brand new
and of course the Capitol
clear could be the clearest water- Spring water- Chippewa which is also looks like you could get in the Cipher somehow.
Clue #3 I got the other day actually looks to be a rewritten Cherokee Blessing
I liike the 'parked among us" along highway US 13 "among us" reminds me of like, among the people-cherokee people
Highway 13 is also the GREAT RIVER ROAD- GREAT LEAP ??
a great leap across the river??
I liike leaping off the highbridge idea-it was one of the first things I thought of just cause I know 2 people who have jumped off it and died.
Lovely = love in tennis
oh yeah and TEN E's like tennies for that shoe thing again
peek could be the neighborhood WATCH signs or the peeks of the pyramids
I think thats what I got for this park- I hope it helps anyone or NOT ;)
There are two bridges entering Cherokee/crossing the river; the railroad bridge for the Chicago Northwestern, and the Smith Ave. bridge. The Wabasha bridge just misses the NE corner of the park, although it does cross Navy Island. Any of these bridges could be considered great leaps (cross the mighty Miss). And since the Wabasha doesn't officially enter, there could be a "2 or 3" confusion.
I do however like-crueler crew being bad guys-
barbs being for a jail
hense JAIL on the corner of Wabasha/Kellogg
what if clue 2 is actually saying that the puck isn't sitting somewhere in the park where the dome is visible.
The only other thing would be the signs with the dome.

well, if cipher means to find the hidden meaning within, it makes sense. and it was there the 2nd year of the hunt(1953) when they had two chests hidden (the other was the state
capitol(oops) Fair.)you mean the fair grounds artie
Yeah, but while there were two treasures during that second year, the Cherokee one was found second. So no matter if you count the year or the turn it was found, it still would be #2. No real dispute as to 2 or 3.
Yep-sorry-got that capitol view in my brain!
I have info on the cherokee being found first!
Or is it second?
That year they had two treasures, the Cherokee was found first. That would make it the 2nd treasure found ever. Not the third. So the 2 or 3 doesn't really seem to fit.
I think the dispute is more like "was it the 2nd and 3rd hunt or just the second?", "is it counted as 2 hunts or 1?" . There was a little talk a couple years ago when it was the 50th anniv. about how many hunts there were and if it was the 50th or 51st.
Ok I guess what I meant to say is I have info on it being the second treasure found that year!
Or was it the first?
See what I am saying?
That to artie!
According to coolercrew.com, Cherokee was found first.

Good Morning!
So can anyone get a useful anagram out of "pew gland"?
No.
So can anyone get a useful anagram out of "pew gland"?
?????????why?
"two or three = other tower "
GLAND PEW
PANG LEWD
PANG WELD
PAWN GELD?
?
I like Cherokee
the 'triple E' being shoe like TENNIS shoe that you would wear on the tennis court
what about that shoe we found during the MOCK! maybe its still there.
I liike the 'parked among us" along highway US 13
"among us" reminds me of like, among the people-cherokee people
Highway 13 is also the GREAT RIVER ROAD- GREAT LEAP ??
a great leap across the river??
I liike leaping off the highbridge idea-it was one of the first things I thought of just cause I know 2 people who have jumped off it and died.
Lovely = love in tennis
oh yeah and TEN E's like tennies for that shoe thing again
peek could be the neighborhood WATCH signs
or the peeks of the pyramids
I think thats what I got for this park- I hope it helps anyone or NOT ;)
new thought from me2 on clue 5: it takes 3 lines of the clue to extract como from it, but you can get cherokee out of 2.
uh huh

The city acquired Cherokee in 1903

street name origins
There are two bridges entering Cherokee/crossing the river; the railroad bridge for the Chicago Northwestern, and the Smith Ave. bridge. The Wabasha bridge just misses the NE corner of the park, although it does cross Navy Island. Any of these bridges could be considered great leaps (cross the mighty Miss). And since the Wabasha doesn't officially enter, there could be a "2 or 3" confusion.
Joe!
