allison...nice to kinda sorta meet you...i'm the girl with the fuzzy red coat (as i've said a bunch of times)

Was such a crazy night I kind of lost track of everyone I met. Was it at Gabe's or at the park?

I'm guessing they're not going to post the explanations at 3am if they haven't been posted by now. I suppose they're still busy making them up.

Hmmm, you know, if the space needle was visible from the baseball fields, I wonder if they didn't plan to hide the thing there, writing the clues for that spot with the assumption there would be snow, and then when it became apparent there wouldn't be, they decided to throw it into the nearby woods instead and just rewrite a couple of the clues instead of starting over. So in other words, I wonder if it's possible that the clues fit better from the baseball fields than they do from the actual hiding spot?

We were in the area for about an hour today. I made a comment to my wife that those jumps would be mentioned in the clue. Why did we leave there?

oh I didn't introduce myself, I was at Gabe's and Scribe and I met up with you on one of the trails by the park, when we decided to go up to the fire pit and count it out

well it's not visible from the baseball fields proper, but up the hill from the fields in front of the humane society

Kinda like the bus turn-around area at Phalen. ;-)

Thanks for letting me use that awesome rake of yours AW! I needs to get me one like that.

Hi G

Allison, the Capitol Dome was on the sign right near where it was found. Camo Terry could see it from the hiding place.

people have been explaining their interpretation of the clues to me and i would've never guessed, except the space needle one, if that's what it means...i was outta this one from the beginning

Lots of folks are planning to go to Galyvans?? at 8pm (between 4th and 5th and Wabasha).

Are we changing?

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:03 AM Permalink
Big G

hey leela...just had to come on here and see if anyone was ticked. it seems like everyone just went to bed :)

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:04 AM Permalink
leelabell

Yep it does.

Here is my take on the clues-

They could have just repeated the word Como for 10 clues in a row and then given the 11th and 12th clues as they did this year and the hunt would have gone essentially the same (found on the 12th clue) except everything in Como would have been destroyed rather than everything at Kellogg and HI

so...rehash bash, meet at the west picnic grounds around noon?

Ahhhh, got it now. I didn't quite hear who you said you were and thought I heard a different name. In that case yes, it was good to meet you also.

Lots of folks are planning to go to Galyvans??

I hadn't heard that. We'd probably have more room there, but we already started announcing it at Gabe's.

There are only a few announcements from late tonight. I don't know how many people are going to slog. What do you think we should do? I don't care where we go, just want everyone in the same place. I likely won't get there until 8:30 anyway.

MCL and SCDs to you. Way too late for me now.

no electricity=no sloppy joes

That would definitely be a shame, though in all honesty, I think I personally would be willing to sacrifice them for the heat of a fire.

can't make the pity party, have to work :(
will be at the rehash though.

SCDs leela, not about the woods!!!

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:15 AM Permalink
Big G

wow...I lose my bet, the guys that found it actually did have registered buttons

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:18 AM Permalink
Big G

they found it at 11:45?!?! geez, fast movers

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:19 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

The problem is some people read the announcement and I'm not sure if they will read the board again before going. So it's possible there may be people heading to Gabe's looking for us that won't get the message and we may not even know who they are. I guess I'm just used to my singles club where if I don't make the plans, then nothing happens (and boy will they be happy this hunt is over!) I've been to Gallivan's once. I liked it, but I'm not sure how well they'd deal with a big crowd.

I say start at McG's, end at McG's. CC Home (of sorts)

Always have the Re-hash at the actual park on the closest Sunday of course.

that's a good point, clue master, plus it's a good bar!

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:26 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Well let me think here. The first Pity Party was at Newell the Saturday evening it was found. It was a bonfire. I can't remember if we even had one for Como since it was found on a Monday. If we did, I think I was there, but I can't remember it now. Last year I can't seem to remember either. Was it at McGovern's? I remember being at Gabe's in the afternoon, and then the film crew was doing a bonfire at IM. And then I think I remember being at McGovern's afterwards, but being kind of late for it. I guess Gabe's has become kind of the post-find hang out but it's a bit late for that now. Maybe we go to Gabe's at 7:00 and then bar hop to downtown at 8.

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:30 AM Permalink
Clue Master

I'm fine with any place as long as it's a bar. ;-) I didn't get my nightly bumps passed around as much as I wanted too since it was found too soon after the clue. I apologize to all of you who inquired about them. I just 'ran and ran' and forgot the 'bumps' back at the car. You'll be happy to know that the bottle was fried by ares shortly thereafter. F-in lush! ;-)

It'll never happen again. I promise. You can always ask me for one when ya 'bump' into me out diggin'.

Thu, 01/30/2003 - 2:37 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Well let's meet at Gabe's still at 7pm and then we can all do the mad dash to another bar at 8. Since the mad dash is becoming a nightly ritual and all. If people already have a plan for Gallivan's, then I guess let's go there instead of trying to change two plans.

I came out fine but then again, I didn't spend too much time in the woods.

I'm checking the email that i've been neglecting, it'll be nice to get back to normal life soon, still have to do some post-hunt winding down.

I have almost 200 emails to catch up on. But not tonight. I think I'll head to bed now and deal with the rest in the morning.

Scribe almost had her rake stolen, we asked some people standing nearby if they had seen it and they're like yeah, we have it. they're excuse was that she had 2 tools.

...That would definitely be a shame, though in all honesty, I think I personally would be willing to sacrifice them for the heat of a fire.

Whassa matter? Afraid of getting caught on fire by a propane heater? LOL! The gazebo is really a pretty small area to fit all of us in too. But it won't be the same without sloppy joe medallions!

Not that anyone would care, but I doubt I see you guys tonight. Really kind of owe some time to the husband and kids. I was almost beginning to miss them.

We'll be there on Sunday though! Hope we get a decent day....we've been pretty lucky in the past.

Gotta head on out here, catch y'all later.

Mornin' Sam

Chrisdigger, please tell me you hooked up with someone to get the clue?

I must not have saved your number correctly in my cell phone because I couldn't find it.

Plus it took so long for it to get posted here, I figured you had already gotten it.

http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/local/5062470.htm

And at 12:30 a.m. today, the newsroom received word: Three young men --Michael Corrigan, 24, of St. Paul; Craig Black, 24, of Apple Valley; and Josh Stender, 24, of Minneapolis -- had found it at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at Como Park. They were eligible for the full award.

I'm glad it was someone that registered a button!
