"What school do you go to little girl?"
"I attend Paul & Sheila Wellstone school"

geeeeeesh, Couldn't just make it simple could they? and name it Wellstone Jr. High or something- - this isn't Alexander Ramsey County.

Most of the city streets in St Paul are just plainly named for a persons first OR last name or other crazy significances like Cedar st named after all the cedar trees in the area during that 1860s era- like Johnson Parkway is for John A Johnson - I know there is already a King St but instead of Martin Luther King Jr Ave it could have been just King Jr. Ave. -we would have known what it meant.

I dunno. Our great grandchildren probably won't.

Hey, you've stole one of my pickup lines.

oh goodness-we talked earlier this month about the school being named after Wellstone in downtown St Paul- they are also talking about an actual center named for him and his wife - what is it again? - I don't recall -but now they want to name the Veterans Hospital after the guy. I think this is a little exccessive. One place should be good enough -even if they decide on 2 (the VA is a good idea-but many people over the past 150 years have contributed to the VA) that still leaves room for the street they will think of requesting in his honour within the next 10 years or so. shhhhhh, who said that? don't give them anymore ideas!

ah- note that there is another school with the full name and they did the same thing when he died-started naming everything after him...
Bruce Vento Elementary? and the Bruce Vento trail (which does goes through Cherokee and Swede Hollow to Phalen-not sure where else)

The Vento trail heads north from Phalen and ends up near Beam Ave.

It connects with the GateWay trail too..

I was at Taste of Minnesota for the first time on 4 July.

The event seems to be a miniature version of the State Fair, which I can take in about a one-half day dose.

I thought it would be more of a food festival. But most of the food you could get anywhere at any gathering like it. It wasn't distinctive at all. Local restaurants were few to be found.

Scale it down and keep it local. There's some good cuisine in this area, for its size and location. But I don't want to eat Fair Food. Foot-long corn dogs? -- C'mon!!!

yeah, my neighbor told me she got cheese curds---I was surpised -even though I love those!

I agree though about having local unique restaurants at the TASTE- but there is the 'taste of nations' in May every year.

These Taste Of gatherings started, I think, in Chicago. But the one there is very much centered around food from the city.

But, hey, we're talking St. Paul.

I would love to go to the Ribfest someday but it got way to crowded over the years- when they bring in celebs like Joan Jett, Cindy Lauper & That guy who sings "Jessies Girl" -how can we get in just to ribtaste? If I wanted to go to a concert...blah blah blah! I want the RIBS! :(
