I'm gonna go see LOTR tonight for the 1st time. Any good?
Cooler!! I hope they're still playing it on the bigger screen.
here is from today - seen from Cherokee Park -- Look just under and left of the Capitol
can you just imagine another stadium squeezed in that space?
just look at that ice palace ;)
Cool shot me2
Now I'll know what park to look in if one of the clues say "just to the right of old st. paul" err somethin like that ;)
Too tired now to upload other pix. Will post more tomorrow..

...I wanna buy the one with the man with the beard ;)
that ones free of charge
ya know, I'm always thinking I should go down to the palace site to take some pics, but you guys keep putting up some great ones and I don't bother. Thanks for sharing!
Nice Pix 3M
nice panorama CM, and nice shots mrmnmikey.
Here's my contribution to the cause, not as great as it was getting dark out when I got there today, but they did have some of the ice palace lights on.

Lookin good KC
me and my sister drove past there earlier tonight, they had a bunch of it all lit up with purple lights... it looked pretty fresh
Here's my contribution so far. Click the photo to go to my gallery slideshow.
And please let me know if anyone recognizes who those Winter Carnival Button Ladies are in that one pix.
it went by too fast but I don't think it's anyone I recognize, they sure look like they were havin a good time though :)

Sorry LL, I set it at 4 seconds cause I didn't want people to get board. You can always go back to any certain photo by stopping the slide show and going there manually through the thumbnails. Thanks for looking.
Boy am I impressed with the quality of that Strib-cam. This pix is on full zoom! I like how you can manipulate it to take whatever shot you want. I wonder how it's goona work when there's tons of people using it?
I didn't know I could stop it :) went back and looked, definately don't recognize them.

There's a webcam cache at the dome. We had a group photo we wanted, and 2-3 people at home trying to get it. I think they were fighting each other.
Great pictures, CM! You have a good eye. Who would have thought to take the picture of the workers in their blue hats and blaze orange vests? The promotional picture that shows a child sitting on a throne type deal is just like the snap shots I have of my sisters sometime in the 1930's.
Yes, those were great! Again, taking away any motivation I might have had to brave the cold and go down there. ;)
Good slide show CM, I think my favorite shot is that one up close shot of the ice block wall, where you can see all the detail of the ice.
Putting all my humble shots to shame ;) I'll have to get out there earlier during the weekend to get some finished product shots, hopin it'll be sunny out. And of course shots from the light show at night. I'm not finished yet.
btw anyone have the link for the strib cam again?
Edit: Nevermind I found it, but I guess it's not workin now, they redirect you to the wild page on the trib's website. That stinks...
ReEdit: Okay.. now it's working... Go figure..

Thanks a lot you people. I'm glad you liked the slideshow. I'll continue to add to it throughout the carnival. Your comments are appreciated.

KC - you funny guy. ;-)
We all need to get on the Stribcam during the hunt. How's this for some size perspective? Man, that's a lot of blocks!
and one of them is mine all mine.
So who wants to make predictions for this year? What park will it be in? How many clues to find the puck?
Hey CM, I was out at Phalen last night, picked up a chunk of ice that's crystal clear, I'm bettin you could pick up a full sized block there in a day or two, after the cutting crews are all gone ;)
So who wants to make predictions for this year? What park will it be in?
Hey BreweryCafe. How R Ya? We have a thread dedicated to where we think it'll be this year.
Thread Link
<edit> I was getting a 'recent' link THX. Simma don na. ;-)
Hey Brewery Cafe. Here's a link to the prediction thread:

makes mine look boring!
Great pictures, CM!
makes mine look boring!
Thanks but Pahleeze. It's not a competition 3M. Plus yours were awesome anyway!
I think the more photos from different people the better.
You hear that Frosti?
right on!
So should we take the best from everyone and incorporate them into the video? Kinda like an add on slide show or something...
All contributors would of course get a free copy ;)

I'm game.
Steal away or I can get you full size copies of the ones you'll use if you want.

Same here! let me know which ones you'd like! (and where to send them)
I would still be willing to help defray costs!

lol for the 25 cents a cd, I think I can spare a few free copies ;)
and hours of your time are worth nothing??
Ohh.. hadn't thought of that... hmm, well of course there's always that. I just figured with the webcam being operated by the PP, didn't really want to start charging for a video of it, might have them come after me or something, unless webcams are public domain, but I think the files they generate are the property of the company that owns the server... And a buncha sticky legal mumbo jumbo...
Of course, any donations would be appreciated ;) Maybe that's how I gotta work it...
I've never really known what to charge for my time on any projects, I'd never make it as an entrepenuer ;) If I can even spell it.
I look at these things as things I might just do for myself anyway and the copying is really the only 'extra' effort involved.
I can volunteer my services to help in the process too KC. I seem to have a bunch of time right now for some reason. ;-)
Well if we do a slideshow, might be nice to have the pictures in some sorta order, and properly formated, not to mention color corrected and whatnot, seems like you're pretty good at that. If you want to collect all the images we'll use for the slideshow, format them all to be 352x240 pixels (that's to fit the video CD format), that'd be a big help.
K
Yo yo, I went down and got some pics of the ice palace this afternoon. There're (oddly enough) in the folder titled "Ice Palace 2004-01-19."

Oh and check out the mileage on my truck from this afternoon too!!!

Glad you finally made it down there!
