The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.
The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...
Phil Peterson
greenslvs there are two pavillons joined together by the kiddies playground, but they where searched through pretty well before i gave them the once over?????
Read up, Hunter. I'm telling you where to go!!! LOL!!!
Really, at this hour, I'm stetching the 'double' bit. But, still. Once it became clear all the doubles, it was like a sledge hammer and I'm trying to double up on everything. All of which is not pertinent, I'm sure. Reading too much and all that. But...
And I've still not had an answer from Cheryl (who's now out digging!) about if there's any 'twin' (doubles) things in the park.
This is really pulling things... but "double" - mirror? Mean anything to anybody????
Does anyone else have this problem reading these recent messages:
Everytime I finish reading the most recent message, I have to scroll back to the top of the screen and click "recent" to get more recent messages that might have been added after I've finished reading what was at that time the most recent. (Did I state that problem right? -- Do you understand what I'm trying to say?)
Hunter: I've been doing that for three days now. Thought it was the only way. Plus, the only way I know how to get to, like, say, Post #1200, is to CONTINUALLY keep hitting "Previous" until I get there.
If you're not at the most recent post, you'll notice a number at the far right of your current URL; e.g. -- my Netscape browser says "Go to:" and then gives the URL:
That indicates note #1899 is the one at top of your screen; so you change the 1899 to whatever post you want to go to and press "enter" key -- and it takes you to posts starting with the # you substituted for the 1899.
Do you guys think that whoever hid the medallion could have anticipated all of the branch cutting that they recently did in Cherokee? With those city vehicles driving in the park and all the work they were doing, maybe they decided to hide the medallion away from where it could be disturbed. We should consider this when we search Cherokee.
BINGO, BRIAN!!! Like three years ago on here (well, it seems that long...!) it was mentioned that in past years that the Med was found in areas of parks where there was major/kind'a lot of new stuff/redoing going on. Makes sense if you think about it - a gazillion folks traisping around and digging.
Is that anywhere near Annapolis and the sledding/ball field area????
I've sent you a couple E-Mails over the last hour; most recent one a couple minutes ago about "Registration could pay" -- don't forget to read your E-Mail.
--------------------------
If you're on AOL Internet browser, I'm not familiar with it; but I can tell you: Every page (i.e., roughly a screen; or scrolling screen) you view on Internet as a URL (like a page address) associated with it; and you should be able to cut (using cut-and-paste) your current URL using some command on your screen, modify it as I described (by changing the right-most # in the URL) and then re-paste it to whatever AOL uses to allow users to transfer to specific pages (that should be some sort of "go to" command) on the Internet.
Hunter: I see your mail, but not read - the pay one. I usually cut and past (to WinWord) what I see. Too tired to try and figure out what you sent here. Could you send to me privately? I'd appreciate it.
Will read "It Pays" later; am registered. <still evil grin... Wanna share???? ROFLOLWMP!!!>
But thanks, it's nice of you to send that to me. I will (the one you send privately) study, look into and try and figure out!!!!
Bri, no. Was downtown, and that more that "doubled" (I CANNOT I BELIEVE I USED THAT WORD!!!) and clinched my vote on Cherokee. It was much of that that I mentioned here that send Clue Master off and running!!!!!
Hey, Hunter!! Remember when I was stuck on Battle Creek and wrangling all I could outta McKnight, et al???? I just want to die laughing!!! Too funny!!!!
It's hard to think of creative hiding spots at Cherokee. Playground equipment, trees, etc. have been searched. I assume we should avoid dangerous situations, like searching over the edge of the ravine. We're left digging under a foot of snow. Something doesn't seem right, yet it has to be there.
It's there, Bri. AGain... Any two hour parking signs near the Annapolis double divide???? Men/Woman's porta-potties??? "Two-Way Traffic Ahead" signs????
Didn't we just get a lot of that snow recently, Hunter??...after the medallion should have been hidden? I've been up in St. Cloud, so I don't know for sure, but I thought St. Paul didn't have much snow-cover until recently.
Bri... Please *PLEASE* do as I have done and slog thru the postings. I've been at this for three days. I only got a few hours sleep last nite, and have to be at the cat show tomorrow in 2.5 hours. I *do* belive I will not be on time!!!!!
Folks, I've got to get. I need at least a few hours sleep. I cannot believe I've sat here this long!!!! I'm going to need DOUBLE my sleep!!!!!
Good luck to all digging hunters. Wish I was one of them. But, maybe I've helped "digging" for clues here. God knows enuff folks have run off after listening to my ramblings!!!!
Greenslvs2, you still here? Just got back from Cherokee. What a mess! One of the pavilions has a roof with 2 peaks/domes? There were a few late/early people out there digging. The tree trimming theory is interesting. I live 2 blks from park and thought it strange they were doing trimming this late - after they did all the rest of the neighborhood months ago.
Hi everyone - just signed on. When I signed off yesterday, everyone was thinking Mounds. What happened? I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but as you're driving down Shepard road (below Mounds Park) by the railroad tracks, there is a big white sign that says "Division St.". Don't know if this means anything . . .

OK, I'm ROFLOL, LOL .... hav'n fun; got to go.
See you later Green, Cheryl and BW -- what a team.
Think I'll pick up that med on my way; then I'll have to bring it downtown tomorrow and see if it's worth anything.
(BTW: When is registered carnival button due?????)
Hunter: Seen you here off and on in the past three days. Why fore are not you out digging????
button registry was suposed to be by Thursday.
Past due, Hunter. 29th.
Mine's in! (evil grin!)
if thou talkist to me. i am first time talker tonight.
Green, there's a faster way to get to any post #:
If you're not at the most recent post, you'll notice a number at the far right of your current URL; e.g. -- my Netscape browser says "Go to:" and then gives the URL:

Hello, Phil! PLEASE do NOT ask me to recap 1916 messages. Please try and read as much as you can. PLEASE!!!!
But, well, I'll help you as much as I can. (shame on me)

Hunter: I've AOL. Not seeing what you're describing.

green a real hunter would have been out there an seen all of the downed tree limbs and tire tracks in the snow(f**ckin prick)
good point brian.
Huh, Phil? Missed your meaning there.
Is this the first year that the Pioneer Press has provided the Water Cooler chatroom for medallion hunters?
Don't think so, Bri. Think *maybe* last year???? Year before???? But pretty sure this is not first.
Green,
I've sent you a couple E-Mails over the last hour; most recent one a couple minutes ago about "Registration could pay" -- don't forget to read your E-Mail.

Have you been to Cherokee today, Green?
I think Jan'97 was the first year for this Water Cooler discussion.

I can't believe I looked in every dumpster in BCP!!! Ah, well. First year, whot??? Live and learn!!! Next year I'm gonna be a contenda!!!!

Hunter: Thanks. See mail. Will get sometime later. Much appreciate, hombre. Muchas gracias.

None of the above. Why are you tripping over the double division clue. Isn't it clear??
Brian,
If you said "foot of snow", I think you figured out where the med is hidden -- that's exactly the way it's done.
Oh, my lord. One must read mail much more often. Yes, one must.
Let's see... What else can I think of?????
Green,
When you wrote ROFLOLWMP ... what is the WMP ????
OK Green, way to go:
Sounds like you read that E-Mail.
Didn't we just get a lot of that snow recently, Hunter??...after the medallion should have been hidden? I've been up in St. Cloud, so I don't know for sure, but I thought St. Paul didn't have much snow-cover until recently.
Hunter: Male read's a good thing... Sometimes...
WMP... Wetting My Pants.
Don't *any* of you folks here travel The Internet?????
Read on.
Bri: NOT tripping... Trying to add to all the doubles that have been in the clues. Just adding on!!!
I havn't yet picked up on any other doubles in the clues. Sorry.
Bri... Please *PLEASE* do as I have done and slog thru the postings. I've been at this for three days. I only got a few hours sleep last nite, and have to be at the cat show tomorrow in 2.5 hours. I *do* belive I will not be on time!!!!!

Brian, we got snow in last 2 wks. Don't know how far in advance they bury the medallion.
After going to Cherokee I've figured that it's not there,
the clues are too scattered through out the park.

I like the Division St. sign idea but, I think there needs to be two of them to make it a double division.
Double Division has to be the border of both the city and the county, Annapolis street, also Phalen, Beaver Lake have potential there. Later
Double division or double vision could mean it's by two of the same things, like a tree or a rose bush.
Someone talk
what is the police station by highland part department number? 2 division or 22 division
