Welcome to the 5th Annual Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt!
The treasure was found just before 9am on Wednesday, March 10th, by Me2. She will get a prize around $290 plus a variety of other goodies. It was found in Marydale Park on the north side in a pit under a tree near lamp post #12.
The wrap up party will be Saturday, March 13th at 8pm at Fabulous Fern's.
they were hard for me. I needed a lot of help. Thanks to everyone that helped me!
Hope you have a great trip! Sorry I misled you yesterday at the park.
nah..yesterday a.m. I was going on a hunch...
last nite...I was going on a 90% KNOW... now I'm more hooked more then ever since I was sooo close....
Even though wounded in battle, she continued on and won the battle!
when she found it Kitch
I'm going to buy a bag of m&m's in the break room right now...just to kinda do it as a toast!!!!
my edit---the damn bag didn't have a GREEN one :(
I gotta buy another one now....
she egrammed me part of her story...
I was litterally leaving the park and had already looked in that 'ditch' and it was litterally within a minute of 3m and I talking about rocks and not in tree stumps- looked in the ditch with the tree, walked up the hill a bit and talked a bout Terry not getting that far up that hill so it couldnt be this far up and talking about rocks, so I walked down the hill a bit and saw a greenish fake looking rock in the ditch that I DID NOT SEE THERE THE FIRST TIME!!! AW says it was a vanishing rock hahaha - I kicked it and it didnt move like a normal rock-it was light and it didnt flip over, I flipped it over with my hand and there was the kitty- geeesh-I gotta go though and you have a great time!
my stupid friggin' web site won't let me upload !
Congrats Me2!
And thanks for the hunt/clues AW, always good for the practice.
So who's doing the next hunt, and when?
congrats, j.
oooooh you guys are way soooo nice.
I didn't scream cause I felt bad that I found it. I did however get to feel what it's like to be in the park for say....20 minutes and kick it though ;) DOH!
So I am driving Mark to work and he tells me it's gonna rain---NOOOOOOOOO! and I am already trying to figure out how to get the kids to karate and Mark picked up in time to get to the park for clue 6- (wasnt gonna be easy) ...I drop him at work (Linders) and drive by the park- I see no-one...I thought someone had found it - I called David and he said noone had called him yet so I drove around the other side of the park (east street side). I see 3 people sitting on picnic tables in the distance, at first I thought it was Scribe and her 2 boys, they truly looked like that cartoon where the birdies are all 'perched' on a tree limb and its cold outside and they wanna come in the house and turns out they were truly elves and the make shoes for the shoemaker overnight....anyhow back to the hunt... hahahaa...a man was walking on the path and I thought it may be that guy I ran into :( ... so I walked a little faster -then realized it was Ian, who said the people sitting on the bench were kids (I think skipping school)...as we walked closer, they got up and walked up to the tracks...so Ian said he was out there for about an hour (actually near the treasure) ...we walk down there and I say I can only stay a 1/2 hour then realize I really only have 10 minutes!!! at that point we were by the post 12 (which I said to Ian, this is post 12 and 15 is over there-hahaha-we were so close and didnt know it)and we talked about the 15 and 50. so we start looking at about the 15 post along the tracks -Ian went pretty high up and I stayed lower -I did find a big rock and thought it was around there (but it wasnt)- I then saw 3M and he came over and we walked and talked and looked - as we progressed east - I looked in a divit/ditch around a tree-kicking at the leaves- we both kinda went a bit up a slant and looked at trees and we talked about the rules and how it wouldnt be in a tree-but I dont think it said it wouldnt be in a stump...then one of us mentioned the rock idea as we started flipping rocks-as I am also saying how "I really really gotta go" and "it couldnt be this far up the hill"...so I headed back down the slant twords that same divit/ditch and was literally gonna leave the park (had to get kids from school-how many times did I say "I have to go" Ian, 3M?)
I saw a greenish fake looking rock in the ditch that I DID NOT SEE THERE THE FIRST TIME!!! (AW says it was a vanishing rock hahaha) - I kicked it and it didnt move like a normal rock-it was light and it didnt flip over, I flipped it over with my hand and there was the kitty-
---it was literally within a minute of 3m and I talking about rocks and not in tree stumps- WOW
it was very close to post 12.
I haven't totally decided how I feel about that. If you go to 20 caches in a day, have you really been able to enjoy the places you visited?
Very good point Ian, I guess sometimes people (myself included) get too lost in the numbers to realize it's not all about numbers.
THANK YOU DAVID FOR A WONDERFUL HUNT---
I even told David I almost gave up the day before- after the dog incident and Jake in MD- I didn't go out last night cause sometimes you get to a point where it gets depressing during a hunt and you just dissappear for a day (like the cheshire cat? :)) I was also very tired and just stayed in bed-sure it was a combination of both-
I didn't want to leave you hanging for the story so I took the time out to post it BUT, I am so "late" ...."for a very important date" hahahahha -gotta get down to the RCHS- got people waiting for my history answers. Hope to see everyone on Saturday- and I will be online--- ESD- can you do a scene of downtown StPaul from the bluff or are you more of a people artist? ??

(had to get kids from school-how many times did I say "I have to go" Ian, 3M?)
You said it many times in like a 3 minute period. Kinda like you really didn't wanna go...
oh for christ sake...grrr.
thanks for the pics Ian, nice, even got the coordinates on it :)
I'm still thinking of running around this summer to try and get the coordinates for all the previous WC Medallion Hunts, then map them. Not that I think it'd help much, but might be interesting info for anyone truely interested.
you can hardly see -but, look at my head...now see the very light whitish tree behind me to the left? That is where it was. The tree was actually very small and blended right in with the big trees.
I think that is a good idea KC.
KC will you be able to make Saturday?
I would want from Cherokee, but let me get back to you- will you be there on Saturday?
KC will you be able to make Saturday?
wish I could, but I have to help out with an activity at my church Friday, and it's tradition for the leaders to stay up all evening (typically the first person to fall asleep ends up getting some sorta prank pulled on them, so usually the fear of that keeps us all up). So suffice to say, I'll be sleeping Saturday, I'll do my best to make it to the next get together though.
;p
I like my bangs! so there ;p
It was windy out there!
Oh right, I still gotta get that ice palace video done... Anyone got any more contributions for it? CM, how's the slideshow thing coming?
when I said there was no snow...
ESD and others- don't know where yet- but sounds like 8 pm on Saturday night -place to be anounced -sorry-sounds like Ferns will be very busy on Sat. but AW is looking into it.

I still have OTS's cd
He's been pretty busy latley
Congrats me2!

Thanks THX-I coulda swore that was Scribe out there thismorning.
late late late late-gotta go -
can I eat my m&m's now? or do I have to wait til Saturday ;)
bye for now...
Me2
Ian...lets do a multi cache there togethor when I get back...I know of a few great hiding spots now...ME2 knows where... :)
did you get my CD from ClueMaster?
haven't seen him since the rehash, I've asked him a couple times about getting out to geocache, but he's had plans the last few weekends. Hopefully I'll get it soon
Hey Kitch, when you get back from your trip, maybe all the geocachers here could meet up and do some geocaching, could try and get the newbies (THX and OTS) out to show em how it's done.
all the geocachers here could meet up and do some geocaching,
count me in
count me in
me too
Just e-gram me. I've been sort of busy so I haven't been reading all the threads all the time.
I've been off work for a week now, and the wife's getting antsy. Are you gonna find a job? i get my last check tomorrow, and with overtime, it's almost a normal check. so i have two weeks before there's really any 'lost' income. but to make her happy, as long as I'm off, i should 'do' some things. We've talked about re-modeling the bathroom, so i said i could paint. of course i started this project a couple days ago, and have yet to get to the painting...walls to patch, sanding, electric, etc.
today i mentioned (again) the amount in the mock hunt, and she said "we could use that, why don't you try to find it?"
so i get a late start, make it to the park, and there's three people there: a jogger, a guy with a dog, and a kid. jogger and guy/dog disappear, so it's me and the kid. he sits on a picnic table, trying not to watch me, but he's REAL interested in what i'm doing. i'm checking him out a bit too. when i moved away from him, he starts looking! I start working my way back, and he runs back to the picnic table.
pretty soon a couple of his buddies show up, and now I'm looking down near the water. Figured I'd give them a bit of a show, so I get my GPSr out (I wanted to check directions anyway). walk around a bit, get lined up with North and the doc (hehe) then poke around a bit.
decided to find the catfish, but it turns out I had the wrong one. I'm walking back to where I had been, and see me2 arriving. I think she pretty much described the rest, except dummy (me) was up the hill, even though I was VERY SURE it wouldn't be there.
we're going out of town for the weekend, so I'll miss the wingding. Thanks Allison, what little bit I got to participate was a blast !
