Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

violator,

I have been all over merriam and I think you are just messing with peoples heads. There is NO such peak. If there is name it. Don't beat around the bushes. I was

with you on ALL the clues. I would have bet a paycheck on it today, until the clue came out. That killed merriam for me.

how does alice know where it is? or does she really?

Actually, it looks like we have mostly serious people back on here now so here goes: Clue #1 apparently really does mean there is no golf course (not what I was

guessing). Clue #2 does refer to sledding, but it is on the other end of the park. Clue #3 is still a bit hazy. There are several interpretations regarding 4,5, & 9, but

none I feel confident enough to repeat. Clue #4, it is indeed hidden in a park where it has never been. Clue #5 refers to the library that is actually in the park. Clue #6

Either refers to a)Woodrow Wilson with Wilson Ave to the south, b) Babe Ruth with Ruth St. to the West, or c) Henry Hudson with Old Hudson Ave one block to

the south. Clue #7, trees in a line = WOOD ROW = Woodrow as in Woodrow Wilson. There is only one Wilson Ave. and only one park on Wilson Ave. Clue #8

is saying its hidden on the softball fields on the West end of the park (away from the sledding). The translucent peaks are glass pyramids lighted from within atop

SunRay shopping center as seen from the back. There is more than one, but one definitely stands out above the rest. So what is this park? Conway if you haven't

figured it out already. But now that you know, doesn't that take away from the fun?

Part 2 of Meda…

there is a small hill at Phalen not big but then again whoever writes these cluse sometimes don't always see things like us hunters do. there idea of flying downhill

could be quite different from yours or mine. I think that a sliding hill is a sliding hill and to some kids just going down it can be thrilling

DD - It doesn't sound like a window to me at all. That wouldn't even be helpful if it DID make sense, no offense.

Human - Yes the dome is transparent, but if it is nighttime and the lights are on inside couldn't you say it is translucent? It would sure look like it. In fact, that's just

how one might describe it.

Sounds interesting, Allison. The "peaks" at Sun Ray certainly fit, and Eye like the Wood-Row bit, too. Hmmmn....

As I said before, I would love to be out searching for it, and have been as much as I can, but I just can't stay outdoors too long with my asthma. So if I can't have

the money, perhaps I could at least have the glory. But if this helps the winner and they want to pay my rent this month I would be very thankful.

Stalion--you wanted help with #4: The iconoclast must be a person oe peoples who defamed something of religion. There were once a maurading group(army) who

did this, they were called the Highlanders. They ravaged the countryside destroying churches and religious items in a feud with the Church of England. To be willing

to be an iconoclast as the clue reads, means you must be a "Highlander"....henceforth if you dig in HP, "the treasure might belong to you"--clue 4 just tells you the

Park.... but makes you think!! You can use any media device to back it up. It will work out as the clue reads

B KING - Sorry, I'm not with you on that one, its WAY to much of a strech. Iconoclast is a very uniuqe word, with several different refferences. The Highlanders

were far from the only Iconoclasts, by the same logic I think we could support ANY park. Sorry, I'm just not with you on that one.

the clue does'nt say anything about alot of people sliding just flying downhill can be a thrill. and if you think back to all the past years they have

pulled out some very strange explanations for their clues, just a thought, look back at some of your old clues from past years.

what clue refers to the word conway?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 2:48 AM Permalink
Jack In The Box

Allright, I have been at Merriam since Tuesday, and if I find out that this thing is at Conway, which is fitting better than merriam with tonight's clue, I sure hope the PP

gives this money to charity and calls off the hunt because there IS a difference between a St. Paul Park, and A St. Paul Recreation center. And conway's a rec

center not a park.

The last time I was there, about 12:30 there were at least 10 groups of people digging up the fields. I figured there would be more with the daylight and the whole

thing will probably be over by tomorrow. I don't really know too many people who would be up for searching for it on SuperBowl Sunday, and certainly not enough

people where I feel I'd have a substantial chance of finding it. As far as how do I live during the winter? I just don't spend a lot of time outside.

So, Conway huh?

There were several people out at this time of night in Highland last night. But my nephew reports nobody out there this afternoon.

Seems strange that the place wouldn't be crawling with people on a Saturday if it is indeed the consensus choice.

An iconoclast is a person or peoples who defamr religious property!! period--thats the definition. Read it anywhere dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia. It all comes

back to religeous rebellion. You nust remember that the cluemakers are educated... If you know your history, youll know that all the Streets names in st. paul are

named after people who helped this city grow... those are not iconoclasts.

Another idea I had about flying down a hill: Are there any parks near Holman Field? Airplanes "fly down a hill" when they land there don't they?

I don't think there is a clue about the name Conway specifically, unless you think the famous man is Tim Conway, but I doubt it. I think they'll refer to the actual

name of the park in Clue #9 or #10.

Allison, you mentioned that it has never been at BC before.... Study the history....Three times... 1957, 1970, and 1995.. Now how do you fit clue number 4?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 2:52 AM Permalink
MedallionStallion

Here's what I like: the fact that everyone is so spread out this year. Not like last year when thousands of people roamed from Mounds to Cherokee in about two

days.

I'm gone for real now, see ya'All!

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 2:52 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

When I first logged on, no one had any idea where it was, or at least they weren't saying. I don't think there was a consensus choice. Even now that I've given a

lengthy explanation I'm sure you'll find the conversation drifting off towards other parks. I don't think there's ever a consensus until you get something as obvious as

Chair-o-key was last year in clue #9 or whatever it was.

it not talking about you finding things or people who are iconoclast but for YOU to think like one. the says "IF YOU"RE WILLING TO BE AN ICONOCLAST".

so that means think different go agaist the grain.

OK. Now wait a moment.

Are we all just a bunch of dorks blowing smoke out our butts?

The last time few years you would have thought they were offering the winning ticket to the powerball. There were GOBS of people EVERYWHERE!

Tonight, including ALL the places we went I would bet we did not see even 100 people TOTAL! Where is everyone?!?!?!

What I said was that the park it is hidden in was one that it had never been hidden in before. Its not in BC, its in Conway, which, by the way, looks like a park even

if it is a rec center.

and go destoy a church or something--to be an iconoclast is to be a highlander--they were sooooooooo famous

MedallionStallion

Sorry, couldnt help it here. Alison is NOT reffering to BC. Look back at what she said and then look at a map, you'll cry. ANd KING- yesyesyesyesyes,

WEBSTERS SAYS "Someone who attacks religious beliefs; destroyer of images." I had to memorize this for the GRE a few months ago and I'm looking at the

dictionary right now.

By your logic, since MLK jr was an iconoclast the medaloin MUST be hidden in MLK jr. rec center- which IS concidered a park.

There you have it.
