Finally got here! 600 posts to slog just since getting back here.

We were down on the capitol mall....I still think it all fits...in fact, more than ever!

Cheryl, got the e-mail...I'll do that tomorrow. Sorry we missed each other down there.

Also, because we weren't tired we drove out past Phalen looking for Mom and Dad....the gates are all closed...and no peaks that I could see. Also went past BC -

probably 3 cars out there and no peaks visible.

read all the clues--they only point to 1 park... remember...every clue has to fit your park--not just a few

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:25 AM Permalink
Oh you didn't know?

Can you say "translucent peak"? It just doesn't work for Highland.

By the way, for Clue#8, the quarry is what you are seeking. It is covered by what is described in line 1. The only question is does the quarry specifically refer to the

medallion, which is to say it is hidden in a softball (which would be awfully strange) or is it something more esoteric like the meaning of this clue, in which case it

probably just means you should think about softballs and a softball field.

Any park west of Lexington. i.e. Highland, Como, Newell, Meriam or any other that is being tossed around. Just can't figure the translucent connection.

ok ill blow my wad. but keep in mind like i said i have no clue as to where i was. it was a park with a road not edgecumbe but edge?????? it was at a park with a

sledding hill, (9)baseball, (5)hockey, (4)driving ranges, near a school, and the man well his name i cant remember either but the street was named for a writer. when I

was there I had a paper and the first 7 clues fit!! I will look again for it tomorrow to find the lighted glowing thing>!?>!?>!?

the translucent peak could be two things the way I see it.....#1 when driving down Rice St. towards downtown there is a skyscraper which at the top is triangular,

and is also lit up.....#2 the golden arches of mickey d's right across the street from the enclosed baseball arena

my guess is the park that fits the clues lies outside Jessie's new office......

Terry, REad back about 80 posts to what Allison Wondrland posted about Conway Park, it fits more than the capital Mall

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:28 AM Permalink
Oh you didn't know?

9 baseball, 5 basketball, 4 baseball fields

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:29 AM Permalink
Terry

I read it....I still think Jessie's new front lawn is the answer.

The translucent building top, as I was corrected this evening, is the top of the St. Paul (companies) and not Galtier as I stated earlier. Note: The big red #1 sign

wasn't on tonight (at least not after 1:30)

Terry, did you see the smaller patch of ground (Cass's place)?

King, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. You need to try to think logical. Where the hell you think you get Highlanders as the most famous iconoclasts, I don't

know. Just about any famous, controversial figure has been an iconoclast. The Highlanders are hardly the most famous group or clan in history. You want the MOST

famous iconoclast? It's Jesus. He ripped the world apart, and pissed off a lot of Jews. How the Highlanders are more famous than him, . . . I don't know HOW you

could say such a thing.

You may think Scottland is a cool place, that doesn't make the medalion hidden in Highland park. Go watch Rob Roy or something

Even before the clues came out I thought that would be the obvious place to put it. But, as the clues have come out and I heard about the damage done to that area

years ago, I doubt they would put it there. Also, how do you make the clues fit that area.

We're going down there tomorrow in the light of day. We wondered about that translucency, too. Thought it might be easier to tell what was translucent and what

was lit to appear so.

Cheryl Straight

The #1 sign was suggested as a possible "translucent peak" earlier, that's why I brought it up.

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:31 AM Permalink
Terry

Yup...we know about that spot too, Cheryl.

Cheryl, you didn't find any earmuffs, did you? You know I lost a pair the last time it was hidden there.

I thought I had figured out what the white thing was... I could be wrong I'll check after tomorrows clue to determin if it pinpoints any better

Terry,

For my money (hopefully the $10G's), the only translucent peak I have heard of this evening is the St. Paul peak. During the day, it won't be glowing (translucing

<G>).

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:34 AM Permalink
Terry

The white thing is what the quarry is hidden in.

Oliver Hardy, I was at the Capitol Mall! Not thinking Newell any longer. No translucent peak there.

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:35 AM Permalink
Cheryl Straight

Terry, I did hear about your "lost" earmuffs. I was kind of thinking they just might be worth finding this year. Cass's place was interesting - it had some things that

easily fit the clues. Couldn't locate the 9 and the 4 may have been a stretch. But the 5 were as bright as the sun <g>

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:36 AM Permalink

9 and 5 go together somewhere a 4. any ideas

just cuz the clue comes out at night doesnt mean that it only is translucent at night--must be translucent at ALL times

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:39 AM Permalink
Cheryl Straight

Okay, I'll bite, how does the park you are thinking it's at fit the tranlucency clue?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:40 AM Permalink
Bill King

Could be different things, simple as a clockface... or as intricate as using translucent as warmth...

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:42 AM Permalink
Bill King

and its a big park--still lots left to dig--lol

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:44 AM Permalink
Cheryl Straight

One thing's for certain, PP decided to divide and conquer this year. There are a lot of parks still being championed and there are only 4 clues left:>)

Usually there is fairly wide-spread concensus at this stage as to which park it's at.

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:45 AM Permalink
Oh you didn't know?

Is there anybody out there or did everyone go to bed?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:46 AM Permalink
Terry

Can I tell you?

We drove past Kellogg Park on the way to see the ice sculptures. There were people actually digging around in Rice Park!!!!

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:46 AM Permalink
Bill King

yep--all theyve done is given you the park by lining up the streets and told you what not to look in and what its in

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:47 AM Permalink
Bill King

and know given you a sight point

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:48 AM Permalink
Cheryl Straight

Unbelievable! Hope they don't hit any of the wires. Gesh....

Couldn't see translucent peak driving past Kellogg - but didn't get out.

Terry, I think every park in the city has been "checked-out" lol

Even Irvine Park had more than a dozen people digging in it today.

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 3:49 AM Permalink
Bill King

with that... ill hit the hay gotta have time to get to the park tomm and please tell me who won the super bowl tomm...lol. Nite all and good luck in your hunt! And

Barton--if you backlog and see this... see you at the park!!
