June 22
Oakdale Park was the site in year one. Tanners Lake was next to continue the fun. Eberle Park for year number three, Remember they found it near the base of a tree? Richard Walton was last. The sleuth's figured it out. One year north, the next year south.
I searched Northdale Park a bit today. It looks to be a promising park, but I'll hold judgement yet, it's still pretty early in the game, but there's definate possibilities there.
Parks are popular places to play. People place pieces of plastic that pay. Some say softball and slides and swings, Others seek cents through spherical things.
Any thoughts on the second and last sentences?
I know northdale has a playgroud, with a softball diamond nearby. I'm just not getting much of an idea for spherical thing.
Wow those South Saint Paul people don't mess around!
Probably at the end of Kaposia near the pedestrian bridge by the railroad yard. Course I don't know SSP very well, I could be wrong. Maybe there's another park near the stockyard?
Â
Nice idea on the coin fountain... anyone know of oakdale parks with fountains? I can't think of even one....
I was out at Northdale and Oakfield I think. It was cool, there were three kids on bikes at Northdale, checking out the park. They biked there, had their clues as they looked around. Couldn't figure out the spherical things for Northdale. A coin fountain could be it. Don't know though. Oh, and Northdale didn't feel right. Too many high weeds. I'd like to think they wouldn't throw it in there.
I scouted a good chunk of Northdale, circled the ice rink, walked from there up to the main park, checking a few tree patches on the way in. Saw some nice piles of sticks in the woods. Checked the baseball and softball diamonds, even the archery range. There's a band of trees and woods that streches from the archery range along the south side of the park, I checked most of that as well.
CLUE...I think Your right on the money on this one...or it could be down in the stockyards there is an OLD marker that used to be the gates to the HORMEL.
Nice clue in the oakdale hunt. I'm wondering if it's near the gateway trail? Does the gateway trail cross into oakdale? I know it does through maplewood....
I am curious as to where in the park it was found though. I thought I did a fairly thorough search...
Well, back to geocaching, Regman, care to meet up at northdale sometime soon to help me place a cache? Any other cooler crew members are welcome to come out and help pick a spot. Make it sort of a post medallion hunt get together.
Well, the gateway trail follows very close to northdale, would fit the old whistles, new wheels thing. The cents in sperical things I have no clue though, I liked the fountain thing, but as far as I could see, there was no fountain there.
KC, I had thought about the Gateway being for today's clue. As for the spherical thing, all I could think about was the satellite dishes on that tower in the distance, or that dome to the east of the park. I think it's a golf dome or something.
heheheh the goodrich golf dome???? I've spent lots of time and money there ;) You can't really see it from the park can you??? That would be west tho... must be a different one
Hey are you still there KC0.... can you go on msn for a second???
Here I am Reg. Status on the South St. Paul Hunt - Found also. :-(
BY ME!!!
I actually found it yesterday but needed to wait until today to get it confirmed. I found it exactly where I said it would be. It took me all but five minutes to find it. I spent so many hours at Lawshe park last year that I kinda had ideas where some good spots would be. I would have found it even faster but it was hidden too easy. I have a totally different outlook on where to look for these public hunts.Â
I guess I win a TV that I pick up tomorrow. I'm sure it isn't much but it'll fit just right in our bedroom since that one just fried not to long ago.
I'm glad I get to represent us guys as a finder. I will do all I can to get them to mention us in their paper if they do a little article or something. Nice vibes on wishing a CC member would find one Reg ;-) How'd ya know? I think KC felt it too. :-)
NICE!!!! You didn't happen to see the geocache there did you??? I got one less then 30 feet from that spot....its not listed on geocaching.com..but its there!!!
I only searched right around that monument and didn't have time to venture out too far from there since it was found. I'd like to go back and see if I can find your cache if it is indeed still there.

Not sure who put this in, but okay.
Bring it on.

Here's the response I just received from Lou Ann Goossens heading up the SSP hunt.
Currently the clues are posted at Pro Pharmacy at the back counter. The first two clues are:
Â
1. You can look high and you can look low. Only I know where it will go. It's public, not private....Look hard...I bet you will spy it!
Â
2. Not in the trees  Not in the grass  But it will help you   Remember the past!
At first glance I'd say it's on a statue or a plaque. Or in a rock wall in a park with a history marker or statue

Clue 3

Some say softball and slides and swings,
Others seek cents through spherical things.

Maybe a fountain where people toss coins?
Kaposia Days clue #3 of 5

Nope.Â
;-)
I'm thinking the Kaposia Days medallion is right here:
Â
Any luck with Oakdale's hunt yet KC?
Â
CM has SSP been found as far as you know???
I may go out to Pro Pharmacy when it opens tomorrow if it hasn't.
I am not worried about Oakdale right now... the parks there are large and something like that isn't going to lead anyone to the medallion.
I'd like to think they wouldn't throw it in there.
yes but plenty of woods in Northdale, perfect hiding areas.
I can't fit a coin fountain with anything yet. Not sure of any oakdale parks with em.
Hey KC, how much of Northdale did you scout?
I am going out to Oakdale tomorrow hopefully.
Hey CM whats up with the SSP hunt?? Has it been found??
Hey CM whats up with the SSP hunt?? Has it been found??
Ummm, Not sure yet.Â
At least not until tomorrow around noon ;-)

Its down by the bike trail near the bridge.
Hey Cluemaster whats the hunt status??? Found???
Anybody look at Lawshe right by that memorial yet?? That's where I would check out.
Nice clue in the oakdale hunt. I'm wondering if it's near the gateway trail? Does the gateway trail cross into oakdale? I know it does through maplewood....
The Oakdale medallion has been found in Northdale Park. Was it anyone from the Cooler Crew?
not I said the Regman
That sucks.. I didn't even get out
ggrrrrrr
Dangit... Well, at least I had the right park pinned....
I am curious as to where in the park it was found though. I thought I did a fairly thorough search...

Sunday afternoon perhaps?
I'm curious too KC. How do you think the last 2 clues here fit in for Northdale?
Well, the gateway trail follows very close to northdale, would fit the old whistles, new wheels thing. The cents in sperical things I have no clue though, I liked the fountain thing, but as far as I could see, there was no fountain there.
yeah... if my parents aren't unexpectedly up north when I wake up Sunday ;)
Wheres CM... he didn't come on before work?
KC, I had thought about the Gateway being for today's clue. As for the spherical thing, all I could think about was the satellite dishes on that tower in the distance, or that dome to the east of the park. I think it's a golf dome or something.
heheheh the goodrich golf dome???? I've spent lots of time and money there ;) You can't really see it from the park can you??? That would be west tho... must be a different one
Hey are you still there KC0.... can you go on msn for a second???
I don't know if it's the goodrich golf dome. I kind of want to say no. It's a domed thing to the east of the park, just off of Hadle I believe.
yeah thats not it
Goodrich is way too far from northdale (more my goosepond)... and west
nah it's the Oakdale golf dome. The one with the dome home connected to it. I saw that too, nice idea, but how's that make "cents" hmm...
Sorry Reg, I can get on MSN, feel free to PM me though
So the plan is to meet up at Northdale park, Sunday, June 27th, at 3:00 PM.
Anyone who cares to show up, great, nothing really formal, just meet up, explore the park, see how the clues fit, hide a geocache, etc.
Here I am Reg. Status on the South St. Paul Hunt - Found also. :-(
