And yet here jethro bodine 11/23/04 7:14amhe agrees with the statement that the Democratic Party is not just different but an enemy of what Christians value.
In general that is true. I can see why you have problems, pieter, you are easily confused.
if you misguided socialists are claiming that when a person expounds their views in public are somehow "imposing" themselves on others then you are simply wrong. It appears that what you really want is to shut those views off from public discourse. Â
In newspeak, "socialist" = "anybody who disagrees with me." It's a bit different from the definition in the dictionary and the understanding of the term by economists and political scientists.
At a party, I mentioned having grown up in Connecticut; the person I was conversing with asked "Connecticut? Isn't that a really socialist state?"
I responded that I hardly thought that a state that puts its butt way up in the air for the insurance industry could be called "socialist," whereupon he said that to him a socialist government is one that imposes taxes higher than he thinks is reasonable. No, he really didn't have a precise figure for what was reasonable. No, that didn't surprise me.

uh... the Democratic party is populated heavily with just that very demographic... the words you failed to include that would give this statement some semblence of reality are "fundementalist" and "extremist"
In newspeak, "socialist" = "anybody who disagrees with me." Again you are wrong. You'd think you'd get tired of it by now. sorry rick but the next presidential election there is good chance Minnesota will be a red state. if the democrats can't put up some one decent next time you guys could lose not only minnesota but wisconsin, michigan and pennsylvania.
No but you can see that that society is becoming more conservative. Kerry had to hide his liberal nature. Hillary is now trying to do the same. Liberal thinking is being relegated, as we speak, to the ash heap of history!
I'm reminded of that movie Bob Roberts with Tim Robbins, where he plays a right-wing folksinger. All his albums were similar in name to old Bob Dylan albums.
One of them was The Times are a-changin' --- Back!"
Is that the sort of thing you're talking about, JT? Mr. New Progressive.
And today's Republicans would consider Richard Nixon an extreme liberal. Hell, he established the EPA and was pushing for national health care. And let's not even mention China.
wow the democrats are damned near parity in the Minnesota statehouse!!!! That is a long fall from the glory days. Think of it this way: it was a very high turnout and the democrats are only "damn near parity."
Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that thou wouldst bless me and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from harm so that it might not hurt me!" And God granted what he asked.
Why don't you address the issue instead of deflecting?
First of all, I am not as close to being little as you most-assuredly are and as you well know, since you once sat down with me at McGoverns... I have the pictures of how little you are to prove it. You were a little-punk then, and you are one now... "Spike".
You're right, I am smaller than you. I'm 5'10" and weigh about 190. Back then I weighed about 175.
Second; To call ME "Strange", is quite the stretch coming from you, since YOU once took the name of a little girl's Rapist and posted using that name as your MONIKER, to hammer at the Father of that same 12 year old Rape Victim. I would say that THAT, was MORE than a "Little Strange",
That's a bunch of lies! I never posted under whatever moniker it is you're talking about. I don't even know what moniker you're talking about. What was that monikers name? I'd like to look it up myself. You can go to the courthouse and look such things up you know? I remember some BS about this, but I don't remember what it was all about.
So until you prove to me and everyone here your accusations, shut up you liar!

Change one word in that sentence and you wouldn't doubt me if I told you it came out of the mouth of Arafat or bin Laden.
But their tactics are different. You liberals seem to gloss over that fact.

assuming the end is that his truth is imposed on everyone,
the truth can't be "imposed" on anyone. the truth is what it is and just because certain people try to ignore or discount it doesn't change a thing.
 i stand corrected:
assuming the end is that no one ignores or discounts his truth.....

There aren't any socialists posting here as far as I know.

you wouldn't know one if it were sitting beside you, rick.
Neither would you.
Oh I see them everyday on the people's forum boards.

It's the demographic of The Rat's neighborhood that probably went 80 percent Democrat in the last election.
I see rick is kept in check by group think.
Whatever you want to call it, it worked in Minnesota.
It can again.
bodine thinks he's keeping rick in check by spouting his group think.
fuuunnnneee stuff
[Edited by molegrass on Nov 23, 2004 at 12:46pm.]
Actually, I feel better in what happened in Minnesota.
Fought back to parity in the state house, something like 110K more votes for Kerry than Gore.
Get a good strong Democratic candidate for Governor -- who knows?
Paint the state Blue (From the Land of Sky Blue Waters) blow up the bridges on the St. Croix and Red Rivers and start issuing Minnesota Passports.

what worked?

We'll put up one as decent as John Kerry.
We'll put up one as decent as John Kerry.
I don't know. It depends on how the next four years unfolds.
Do you know what's going to happen, neo-Puritan?

and it isn't the self-annointed New Progressives.

I hope the libs DO put up more candidates like Kerry.
You're just too close minded Rick.
You'll come along.
Hopefully by the next election.
How did you reach this conclusion that I'm the close-minded one and your the open minded one?
"You'll come along."
Where are you taking me?
"sorry rick but the next presidential election there is good chance Minnesota will be a red state."
You said there was a good chance in 2004. Minnesota Democrats turned out in droves. We held up our end.
How did you reach this conclusion that I'm the close-minded one and your the open minded one?
Because you and your party are regurgitating the same ideas from fifty years ago.
Where are you taking me?
To a brighter and better place. Where you decide your future.
You said there was a good chance in 2004. Minnesota Democrats turned out in droves. We held up our end.
There was a good chance.
You guys didn't win by a landslide, that's for sure. So don't get too cocky.

Some things should go back to the way they were.
Kennedy's "Ask not what your country can do for you..." ideal would probably be considered "Right Wing" by most Liberals today.
Anyway, hope is on the way, and that hope is the progressives in the Republican party.
Funny how some True-Republicans always quote John F. Kennedy when they need to Look like they are "Enlightened". Always during election time too.
What are you talking about?
Enlightened? You strange little man. I don't know where you're getting that from, because I simply use the Democratic hero of many as an example.
Like I said, the Democrats of today would consider their own hero a "Right Winger" based on his own words.
Perhaps you and others who do that, truly believed in him, and what he did for this nation...eh?
I don't know what that means, but he was killed before I was born.
And today's Republicans would consider Richard Nixon an extreme liberal. Hell, he established the EPA and was pushing for national health care. And let's not even mention China.
Times, they do change.
You said there was a good chance in 2004. Minnesota Democrats turned out in droves. We held up our end.
Would you agree that Minnesota is a lot more red than you thought it was before the election?
And today's Republicans would consider Richard Nixon an extreme liberal.
Maybe not extreme but certainly a liberal.
"Would you agree that Minnesota is a lot more red than you thought it was before the election?"
No. Actually I was less hopeful than I am now.
No. Actually I was less hopeful than I am now.
The party has certainly done a number on your head.
How many seats did the DFL pick up in the statehouse this year, jethro? We're at damn near parity in the house.
Did Republicans vote them in?

Didn't lose it overnight. Won't get it back overnight.
"That is a long fall from the glory days."
No its increase of 13 seats according to the DFL website. I had to double check.

that's pretty close-minded of you, THX
How would you feel if you were accused of such things?
Bill Fold may believe that to be true, but it's not. I never posted under said moniker.
It's so close-minded of you. Why can't you see his position?
What position? He has no position. It's a bunch of made up nonsense.
What if I took the "Position" that you were a child molestor and started posting it all over the peoples forum?
Would your anger only be a sympton of your close mindedness?
Gotta run.
Happy thanksgiving to you, Crabby.
