I haven't had a chance to slog, so I hope I'm not repeating any discussion that's already been discussed to death...
But what does everyone think about the retirement of Karl Karlson from the PP a couple of weeks ago? Do "we" think he's done with clue writing? Is this year his last year? Does this mean there won't be another 12-clue hunt? Will the medallion actually been hidden in a non-treacherous area?
OTS, feel free to take any images you like from NAHF. Hopefully, Jackie and I will have some new pics up by Monday.
Re: Cluemaster -- the Santa Dave "Twelfth Night" -- I've always loved that, very poetic (though 2001 ended on just Clue 9). Too bad Cathi Hogan ended the 2001 when she did. I'm happy for Cathi, but that would have been a classic hunt with the freezing rain later that day.

Thanks Trent... I was planning on putting a few of them together in a small lay out in the 2004 folder.... (or other folders sorted by associated year). People like seeing the "what it was like" pics.
My thoughts on the hunt this year. With the amount of snowfall we've had so far this year, I think a good number of parks could be ruled out. Think of how Merriam would be with this year's snowfall. If they hid it at a park like Merriam, it wouldn't last long. There's not many good hiding spots, and those would likely be picked over quickest. They couldn't have it out in the open because it could be found on clue 3 by some regular person just kicking around in a park. And they can't make the clues so vague you can't pinpoint a small park like that until later. It's got to be a park with size and good puck cover. Trees, foliage, things like that. Something that could blend it in. I think the puck will be much the same. What they hide it in depends on the weather.
The PP knew that KMSP had shown a close-up of the medallion after Luis found it, so I think that was one of the reasons that they let everyone take photos of it. Well, that was reason #1. Reason #2 was that the PP was trying to make "nice" with the Cooler Crew for kicking them out of the press conference.
would the medallion illuminate with a black light do you think? hmmmmm
As for the drawings-I never told anyone this but -after they draw they throw away all of those cards into their dumpster out on the side of the Landmark Center- So if anyone takes then than they would have your information-they do not shred them or keep them. Also- It does matter how many you send in, the more you send in the more chances you have of getting drawn. Theyvideo tape the drawing so its fair.
Now, I went there yesterday and found out that they PREFER a postmark from the postoffice BUT they will accept them if you drop them off at the Landmark Office.
About the parade-they sooo suck like most companies---geesh, you would think I would get a call back? NOPE- I went there and the woman was not in but they left her my number to call me. Supposedly the parade line up has been set and they are NOT accepting anymore applications. Soooo, is there someone who can contact Ma Press and find out if we can get that banner again and walk with them? rrrrrrrrrr
Hey Trent - I had no idea the centerfold was a relative of Jakes. Even after I talked with him tonight. He didn't give any inclination but said he knew who it was. I guess I'm just a lucky bastard. Hopefully it'll be me year.
probably wouldn't matter if it would illuminate, usually it's inside something that wouldn't. Unless of course a raccoon ate the donut it was hiding in, then a blacklight would work find. Heck it worked in CM's photo ;)
BTW, I kinda liked the mystery of what the medallion looks like. Sorta like a secret only finders (or people near the find) would know. I mean sure, everyone wants to see it and know what it looks like, but I used to like when people asked me "what does it look like" and I'd tell em "I think if you find it, you'll know"
I was only gone from the Cooler for about 20 hours. I think that I am gonna have to stay out of the Shoot The Breeze for a while now cause it is just to hard to keep up already.
anyone know why my Explorer isnt working right? I can get online but I can only look at email-I cannot get into any websites.
maybe a security setting... hard to say I guess, seems a little odd that it's only websites. A reboot might be in order, unless it's a recurring problem.
I can look in my AOL mail - If I type in a website like http://www.google.com/it says it cannot locate the window and error window pops up. I have run both Macfee and Norton and both come up with no viruses.
Â
My Explorerkeeps freezing and NOT RESPONDING -then I have to reboot forsure!
Funny how I'm watching a commercial right now pimping AOL's virus protection. Pahleeze! Although it totally sounds like a virus to me. You didn't happen to delete any .dll files lately have you. Or made any recent changes? Maybe clear the history and delete the recent files within your Tools/Internet Options.
Do you have XP? You can do a restore if it gets down to that. Or even reinstall Explorer. But those are final options.
try another browser perhaps. IE gets overloaded with crap since most websites exploit it to install spyware and every other bit of code they can squeeze in.
firefox is a good alternative browser, netscape is soso, or there's opera. but honestly I've always liked the open sourced approach (which firefox is).
I may have deleted a dll file- but not sure- hmmm why would that matter? I have windows 98 on this computer and windows ME on the other (ME is the one with troubles) I just installed AOL 9.0 about 5 days ago.
Those files are the guts to your computer running smoothly. If you choose to delete them when deleting a program or cleaning out stuff using your antivirus prog, you could remove a shared .dll that other programs use to function. McAffe is good for that. They shouldn't allow you to even see these types of extensions. They're just too valuable.
They would mean you TMK=O

Hmmmmmmmmmm Great now I have to sit and ponder that all night long :)

I think it's great that everyone will have a part of this film to pepersonallyeflect on.
Haha! Not me. Unless he snuck in here and caught me noodling clues on the computer. My kids do the leg work.

Definitely a new medallion this year. So this begs the question, "Is it smaller, thinner, a different color?"Â
Is this conjecture or based on fact?
No, not conjecture...definitely a new medallion this year.
One could only assume that would happen with all the pictures people got of that thing.
any details of the
fact?
I saw it in 2001 and saw the pics in 2004 and it was the same med.

I still haven'y seen any facts that there is a new med.
If there is the old one was probly destroyed. Do you have any verification of a new med NTFCF?
I am only posting this on here so I dont forget to go:

Yes she was there. She's got to be in the shots somewhere. She was haning out in the back room for most of the time.Â

We showed up last year with no clue what we were doing. Green said come so we did.

Yes Trent, we spoke at the Pre-Dig, back by the bar.Â
Maybe Mark discovered some of THOSE sites that you were frequenting and decided to limit your exposure?
Are you talking about web mail like Yahoo, G-mail or Hotmail? Or your hardrive e-mail like Outlook or Lotus Notes?

ewww...
did this problem show up the same time you installed aol 9.0? Sometimes aol installs get messed up, and cause all sorts of headaches like that..
I even took aol 9 out and checked with 8.0 and it did the same thing- so I installed the 9.0 again

the trouble with uninstalls are most times they aren't clean.
That meaning if you install an upgrade, most times a problem that shows afterwards will still show up, even after you try to uninstall the upgrade.
;-)
Hey OTS - Were you able to fix that link in my guestbook entry?
