Theirwork is regarded by many as the "best kept secret in St. Paul."
For the first time ever, thosewho write the clues that send Treasure Hunters digging through the snow each winter will briefly lift the veil of secrecy to discuss general questions about recent hunts.
Theywill do so without identifying themselves,or commenting about any aspect of this year's hunt.
The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt "Ask A Clue Writer" promotion gives hunt enthusiasts an unprecedented opportunity to gain new insights into the hunt," says Pioneer Press marketing director Lori Swanson. The discussion will be limited to Treasure Hunts held in recent years.
Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 19, and continuing through noon on Friday, Jan. 21, Treasure Hunters may submit questions online on TwinCities.com or send them via e-mail to cluewriter@pioneerpress.com.
The clue writers'answers to selected questions will be posted on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 9 a.m.
"The writersand theirwork have been the subject of intense speculation among Treasure Hunt enthusiasts," Swanson says. "We hope Treasure Hunters will have fun learning a little more about past clues and hiding places, as well as the lore and lure of the hunt."

I tryed to listen online real quick but the stream didn't get real consistent until it was over. All I heard was Jake talk about hunters not like Como, and he said something about Joe reading the clues. Was there anything else worth knowing about?
He said he called to apologize for calling Joe the cluewriting. Joe denied in his usual way. Jake tried to engage Joe with babble about Como, cluewriting, and a few other things and Joe lost interest.
Looking for the medallion this year? Don't start here

I think Jake is the guy he's referring to who keeps calling him to say he's the cluewriter.
That was my first thought too.
New tagline from Joe: In the end, though, it is often a guy who picks up the last clue, drives to the location and then trips over the loot.
I also liked: What a weird fight this is. I don't even know who I am arguing with.
I was really amazed at how often he writes the same story over and over and over....
Just about every year he writes about his glasses.
Also....didn't I just show everybody a clip of his from years ago....about the pro's with gps, maps, grids, etc....yep...the pro's are out!!!
Â
Yeah, according to Joe's definition, most of us here are "Pros" then.
w00t!
I'm a pro......well.....semi-pro ranks at that....
are we in teams then?? today's match up....
CamoCrew vs. Scribe and Me2
*place your bets.....
CamoCrew vs. Scribe and Me2
push
to stare in horror as the park tipped under the weight of the advancing pitchfork-wielding heathens.
I'm no pro.. I just hang out with a bunch of them :)
I was down at Beaver lake getting the '64 coordinates tonight. Saw a family playing around the lakefront, and no car in the parking lot. Hmmmmm....
I'm tellin ya! Beaver!

they didn't say more than 1 at a time though.
Do you think they would want the old writers knowing who the new writers are? I mean after a while someone might slip lol
good question. I don't know the answer.
Jake is on with Joe right now
Jake is on souch again
What a jerk
Talk about a ham
I don't think that was Jake. The voice wasn't right.
Oh, that was Jake allright.
OT- that was Jake, don't worry.
I don't remember him having that deep a voice.
Do you think he will call joe every day or just till the hunt starts?

Worried? I'm not worried. Just playing the Devil's Advocate. The voice sounded too deep to me, but what the heck do I know.

At the end he said he didn't think Joe wrote the clues any longer. And he put in a plug for the decumentary.
He said he called to apologize for calling Joe the cluewriting. Joe denied in his usual way. Jake tried to engage Joe with babble about Como, cluewriting, and a few other things and Joe lost interest.
He also said he wanted to Meet Joe at the film and ask some questions.
Who is Mike? He's on now talking about Jake.
listen to the guy ripping Jake now
Ha too funny
stupid internet not working, anyone want to post some of insults?
grrr.........missed it again!!!
Jake needs to brush his teeth and shower more LOL
the guy just said not to take Jake seriously - that he had a website where he admitted not showering during the hunt - joe said jake had issues

Joe spent a lot of time on the inauguration today and then moved on to that kid who lived in Apple Valley HS.

It's the multiple nonsense posts leading up to a post that drive me nuts.
