The first clue could have a Scottish (Highland) theme. Several sources list the etymology of the words "curmudgeon" and "dudgeon" as having Scottish origins. "Dudgeon daggars" were knives the Highlanders of Scottland carried around in their stockings.Â

I think we've been waiting almost a year to noodle clues and there's nothing wrong with seeing how much we can get out of a clue that is typically not very important. It's good practice.
