1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

one of the meanings for orient is "to cause to face or point toward the east" which i think has to do with a park in the east side and bright red object being the 3M

sign to the east

Jackie Martin About how many people would you guess?

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 5:58 PM Permalink
Jackie Martin

I think orient just means the east side of St. Paul........

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 5:59 PM Permalink

it is in conway park

How many people at Conway right now----- HUNDREDS!!!! No lie, it's insane!

I saw the tires and the True Value sign, but it didn't register anything specific to me as to where to dig. But from where you can see the True Value sign, there's a

"Big W" right there. That's got to be it!

I believe they said "Keep out an eye" just to rhyme it with sky.

Does anyone still think it's at Highland? Where else besides Conway, Como, Highland have people been looking?

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:03 PM Permalink
Monica Spencer

I went to Conway yesterday to and didn't find it I don't think it's there either.

Rock you were saying how the first letter of each clue spells out St. Francis but it doesn't because clue 9 starts with a K. So now we have you convinced on

Conway? To get there take the Ruth Street exit of 94 and go north a couple blocks. You will see the park and all the explanations there.

yes I agree that orient means to the east... also 3 clues use the word "OUT" clues 3,6 & 9 there are 3 outs in baseball...think the whole thing ties to baseball very

well!!!! also.... numbers adorn the front door is clue 3 and the 3M bldg has a big "number" 3 which adorns their front...also it is red object high in the sky... whatcha

think? :)

My only luck was that I think I figured out Clue #3, but if I'm right, all it does is point to Conway again, but not where in Conway. By the way, there is no backstop

#5. And if you're going to try and interpret clue #3, please try to explain the whole thing.

There are also 2 houses across from Conway next door to each other, 2054 and 2059, hmmmmmmm

There is a house across the street between field#3 and field#4 who's address is 459.

I would highly doubt at this point that it is in Como, Highland, Phalen, Battle Creek, or any park of significant size. If it was, they would have given a clearer clue as

to the parks name by now.

Actually the houses on Conway are 2049 and 2059 (both would have to be odd).

BY THE WAY ALLISON I CHECKED UNDER THE BLEACHERS

The main problem is, where in Conway is it? If my interpretations of the clues are right, all they've narrowed down so far is that its not on the far east side where the

sledding is. My only hope now is the word iconoclast. Perhaps it means we need to look for some religious like thing (probably a cross because that would be the

easiest to make) to break through to get it, or possibly we have to look in some really bizarre place. I had no luck finding those today either.

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:12 PM Permalink
MushieW

STP... round and white is baseball....adorn the front door is 3M on the front of the bldg.... :)

Hey Cartman-

I think you have to assume all claimes are hoaxes until you hear it officially.

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:13 PM Permalink
STPCARTMAN

12 clues total right? and the 12th tells exactly where it is?

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:14 PM Permalink
Jackie Martin

I think tonight's clue will bust it open, they haven't been specific enough where in Conway it is (wouldn't that suck though if it wasn't in Conway?!?!?!)

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:15 PM Permalink
MushieW

no Allison... they would not want people ruining ANYTHING religious...it would bring billions of hate mail messages!! The iconoclast clue leads you to breaking

tradition...out with the old in with the new... it is in a park it has never been hidden before...that is what I think.... :))

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:15 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

My worry is that tonight's clue will just pinpoint Conway and nothing more specific. Then we'll just have hundreds and hundreds of people digging aimlessly until

there's nothing left because the cluemaster hid it somewhere that nobody's ever going to think to look.

people... clue # 7 says- somewhere in here theres a clue quite clear if you think first of trees in a line..... go to the anagram sight and put in "first of trees in a line" and

see what it spells out cuz it does say "from this a name will appear" that could lead to a valuable sign...my web tv said the page was too large to display so i couldnt

find out anything to do with STREET cuz thats jumbbled in there somehow.....

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:17 PM Permalink
starbury

I think I know the location... sorry, I cant tell cuz im goin there right now, but it IS in conway for sure. And check the line # too see if anyones got it, i Just did, and it

said no one found it.

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:17 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Actually MushieW, I didn't mean a formal cross. I just thought perhaps it might be where two branches cross, or two pipes come together, or even the utility poles. I

don't know if anyone would see that as a religious affront.

All you morons who fake finding the medallion are wasting your time. "Dude... yo! I can't spell and my friend just found it..." At this point, I wouldn't even believe a

real message and I don't think I am alone. You suck. Learn how to speak and write the English language before you bother us again.

you know what marypoppins..i have been here for 3 days (under different names) I have been out in the cold searching for that darn medallion I am as frustrated as

everyone else but no reason to be rude.....and something I found out today was..there used to be a rec center where the hockey rink is now..then they built the new

community center
