1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Jackie Martin

The only reason I don't think it's Como is because there is too much going on over there during the carnival, but not that it is a real good reason, just MY reason.

Since we have eyewitness at the site (those who live across the street) I'm sure you can tell us if something is happening.

I think we can interpret these clues soooooooo many ways that we all would be GOOD clue writers!! LOL! I also think that it will be hidden somehow that it hasn't

been in the past but just burried in the snow is always good because it it soooooo hard to find!!!! That's what they want!! I went to Conway and lined everything

up... dug and dug... but I got nothing but a back ache.... will be hard in this fog to do well tonight!

I've never been there, but I hear the paper isn't available any earlier than the clue is on the internet.

Conway is what I would call a reluctant consensus, with quite a few still holding out. The main problem is where in Conway to look?

I heard someone got kicked out of Irvine Park, b/c they had a Snowblower. <sigh> When will people learn they aren't even close?

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 6:48 PM Permalink

That's so sad when the PP has to POST telling people not to dig near the water tower. <sigh> Such a sin. :)

Here's another theory based on almost nothing. If I was the person hiding it, I think I'd want to pick a spot that was somewhat obscure. I can picture them pulling

into the library parking lot late one snowy night. Being across from SunRay there's no one to see him on his midnight mission. Climbing up the hill a little ways he can

see 3M, the water tower, the softball fields and obviously the library. But the library obscures his view of the second, smaller peak at SunRay. Staying low so he

can't be seen over the hill he makes his way towards an inconspicuous spot and tosses the medallion so as not to leave footprints. He watches as it comes to rest in a

seemingly random location and, content with his work, gets back in his car and is off into the night.
