2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Hi Cooler Crew! Sorry I wasn't able to go out to the park to dig this
year but I had some other things going I had to do. I was "dog-sitting"
a friend's dog and house in Siren, Wisconsin so he could be in the
cities with his wife who was in the Saint Joseph's hospital having
kidney stones removed. He's done me a lot of favors in the past so I
did this one for him. I did make it to the pre-dig gig and the pity
party last night, though. And since I had a lot of time to spare, I
used my friend's computer and read every post here! That was a lot of
fun! I didn't say much, though, because I had never been in Crosby park
and didn't have any good advice to contribute. I did go to Grantsburg
every morning, though, to eat breakfast at the little cafe where
grn_i_grl works. That was a lot of fun!

So anyway, I had a lot of fun this year reading all the posts. Next
year I will be out in the park with my shovel and all of you! I
appreciate knowing all of you and will see all of you at the rehash
bash Sunday! I love you all! You are all like family to me!

So if I stay tuned into this forum, will someone be notifying the Crew of upcoming mock hunts? I've never done those before.

You guys are on the ball! Yup! That's Pee Wee! I'm also a part-time
stand-up comedian and got to know them when they were both at the
Comedy Cabaret on 28th and Hennepin Avenue. The building changed the
name to Comedy Sportz for a while and I'm not sure it's in business
any more. But it's fun to know Jay and Pee Wee!

Santa, do you happen to know a stand-up guy named Leon Harmon?   He lives in San Fran now, but used to perform around here.

Leon Harmon? Yup! I know him! He had a strange act!

Lisa, check out the Re-Hash Bash thread.  Enkneethany and everthany you wanna know about the Pre-Dig Gig and the Re-Hash Bash izz there.

Haha!  He's a good friend of my oldest son.  Stays with him when he comes home for a visit.  If you knew my oldest son (Phd in philosophy, very serious and deep) you'd appreciate the irony.

me2: I don't think it would be wise to perform at the
rehash bash. For a family event, a lot of my comedy
material is "over the heads" of a lot of younger people.
I'll let you know sometime when I'll be performing at a
comedy club here in town. Trent saw me perform last year
so you can ask him whether I'm funny or not!

Groupies? What a concept! Actually I had groupies
several years ago after I did a commercial for
10,000 Auto Parts. I even signed a few autographs
for some strangers on the street who recognized me.

No user inform…

Hey FireLady...this is Julie...one of the "wanna-be's". I'm still disappointed that you weren't one of the clues. How are we going to make a t-shirt now? Maybe a one that says "Hey cluewrites, make ME a clue"

Steph and I will definitely be down there on Sunday. Thanks to all of you for being so friendly...it made it so much more fun to be there. See you in a couple days!

Ok, so here's my long emotional post.

First, I knew that piece of bark, I walked right by it, and the tree was the 20th or so I had ransacked that night so I just walked away.  I had planned to go straight to it last night and got the call that it was found with literally one step out the door.

I was part of the original crew that started up the Puck Posse.  We did that because we had heard vague mention of the "cooler crew" and when I was down getting the paper every night - my experience with the cooler crew was a bunch of jackasses in a conversion van with cooler crew on the side talking trash.  So we had our own little thing that turned out to be the same as this little thing.  I went to como 2003, met Green, and after about two mins. with one of the sweetest people i know - the whole puck posse thing seemed a little pointless since we were all doing the same thing.  OT, Outta and the gang, I'm so happy to see is just part of this now.

And really, did anyone else but me notice that one of our'n married one of your'n? We used to call Chesty fat Bottom Girl back in the day; now she's a completely different person because of this and these people.  So I offically call end to the puck posse, since we had the romeo-juliet pairing of warring houses this past fall.

For me, the thing that was really great to see this past year was the evolution of the Clownless Nick.  I've been where he's been on both counts - my ex G-F I tried to get involved with hunting, and when I explained to her she had to come up with a name she shrieked 'Crack Whore Barbie!'.  Needless to say, it didn't work out - so Nick - I, for one, am jealous.  As a single Bear again (bare bear?) I'm hoping to find someone who likes the look of me in Sorel's too.

Also, with respect to "you know who" - Nick, you need to understand and you really need to come to grips with the fact that we didn't choose you - we didn't support you as opposed to him - you did the right thing.  That in and of itself is the support that you deserve.  Plus I always liked you more anyway.  But to be serious, I had that happen to me with a good friend several years back and so I know what you went through, and kudos from the bear for being the bigger person.

This is the time of year that I always think I'm going to get better next year - get arial photographs, topography, modify my shovel to include x-ray technology, get a big black helicopter to drop me in the park and avoid the traffic - but ultimately I don't, and it ends up being a frantic chase of me vs. the entire city.  And I like that - it's what makes it fun.  because try as I might, I always miss out - but I take comfort in the fact that I get there just like the smart folk here.

I'm glad to know (those that I personally know) and consider you my friends, and I'm glad to be a part of this.  And I'm glad that the 4th annual bearhunt will be Zephy's first one home.

And I had some more groupies who recognized me
in the movie Untamed Heart, a 1993 movie made
here in the twin cities by MGM with Christian
Slater, Marisa Tomei, and Rosie Perez.

A foot note to Bear's post.  Zepher was a member of the Puck Posse also.  It's a real homogenized group here now.

Red, if you were only older, or I was only younger...

"I went to como 2003, met Green, and after about two mins. with one of the sweetest people i know..."  Man, I didn't know that.  Thank you so much!  Such a compliment.  Ya got me all teary-eyed here; I'm really touched.

LOVE the warring Capulet and Whomevers allusion:  "And really, did anyone else but me notice that one of our'n married one of your'n? We used to call Chesty fat Bottom Girl back in the day; now she's a completely different person because of this and these people.  So I offically call end to the puck posse, since we had the romeo-juliet pairing of warring houses this past fall."  That's really good, and SO TRUE!!!

Capulet and Montague.  Green, you remember that day and the dumb look on my face? It was my 'well why did we do the other thing, anyway?" look.

This year was my very first hunt actually hunting with other CC members. I’ve done a few Mock Hunts with some of you but what an experience I’ve had this year having other CC members to hunt with. I hope to meet more of you at the RHB. Also, this was my first year doing the standing in line thingy at the PP! What a blast! (Not sure how much of a blast it would’ve been if the weather was colder. :) We did luck out with nice weather not too bitterly cold.

Thanks for the memories....Lilman (and wife), lilslim, Mystical Muzik, Music Man, Art Vandalay, SnowJester, Kool-Aid, Regman. (I hope I didn’t miss anyone).

Yup!  Sheepish Bear.  :D  And 'member how I just stayed calm?  And you were all ready for hothead (vs. a Coolerhead!) temper tantrum!  Hehehehe!  :D  Didn't get my undies in a bundie over Da'Posse, but yust xplained about The 'Crew?  Said, "You should check us out.  There's a ton o'us, we'd love to have you and I'm sure you'll find some o'us fun." (Or sumpin' like that.)

Remember Allison's party?  Froze Butt was there, too?  You were still a Posse Bear, but were really starting to come around...  You were SO CUTE!!!

'Member how I fell over the hay bale?
<blush>  And that was BEFORE I started drinking!  :D
