Nah... I went to Franklin junior high for a year, then transfered up to Pequot Lakes for high school (kinda hated switching busses after a 45 minute ride into school)
my sister might have... I graduated way back in 95. Besides I didn't ever manage to fit in with the cliques, most of the pequonians had been going to school with the same kids since kindergarten, so me comin in at 9th grade... yeah anyways I wasn't one of the popular ones.
It's weird, I have my senior yearbook and it goes back to 7th grade, that Dru Sjodin (sp?) was in there as a 7th grader at the time.
Yeah Nisswa is great, if I could find a way to make a decent living up north, I'd go back, much quieter. Course the medallion hunt isn't there, but it's not like I couldn't drive down here for that. Shoot two weeks of chasing a little piece of plastic around the parks here with a buncha other people and I'd be ready for some peace and quiet.
Clue 10 ended the great outdoor adventure of crosby farm park...so here it is...
Parking lot leads past woods and weeds To the trail passing two and three The lake of ice, the life-saving device Are close to our magical tree.
dang that magical tree! dug around that like there was no tomorrow! can't wait til next year!
i had such a good time with all the hunters. one group imparticluar, the cooler crew! www.coolercrew.com or www.coolertimes.com these people rock!!! one of them even asked me today if they could now call me a cooler crew chick, i was so honored, how could any snazzy gal turn that offer down! i'm so glad that nick got me into all this madness, now that i'm in it i don't think i could function without it. i love the puzzle factor. wrapping your mind around new things keeps the blood pumping and the brain from draining. now i have to find my way back down that path of normality. is that a word. no, i don't think so. 'normal' is just some theory that was made up to make humans feel 'ok'. who wants normal anyways! live the weird!
cold fingers cold toes campfire clothes jimmy rigged headlamp flashlights snowangels and diet coke overload
this last weekend was a blast. the medallion hunt is still underway and has consumed my life. also watched a few movies with nick. saturdays clue pissed me off so we went and drank the clue blues away. sunday i maybe scared a few cooler crew members away when i got bombed off diet coke and was so hyper i think i blacked out. oh well. best they see me high and low...lol.
also witnessed High on Stress on thursday. they always rock and were sounding perrty dang good that night as well. this week who knows what i'll be doing. hunting. finding. searching. if not for a medallion for the meaning of life and all that really easy stuff that for some reason us human machines are trying to figure out!
Today's Clue -- January 31, 2005 En route to trails where puck fever prevails Many sides no flowers to see Round the bend the seeker should wend To all that remains of a tree
Clue #8 -- January 30 He staked his claim one year of fame On land as rich as Midas This land is my land, kicked off the island To a grove that once did hide us
Clue #7 -- January 29 Chilled to the marrow only a yarrow Could love the place you found Lonely and forsaked, the puck rests naked On the snow- and ice-covered ground
Clue #6 -- January 28 Young woman or man, while you still can Gnash your teeth and put on the glove On cross country skis take the trail through the trees Where the eagle flies with the dove.
Clue #5 -- January 27 A branch, a lichen, a place made for hikin', Is where a prize is earned. Don't run, helter skelter, seek out solid shelter With room and wood to burn
yes it's true. i'm addicted to this new little cult. awesome people and good times. and i definately need to get together some kind of therapy unit for the noodlers. clue figure-outers. up til the wee hours of the morn try'in to make sense out of little poems like clues.
Today's Clue -- January 26, 2005 The siren calls, the giant falls 'Tween field generals the poet sings That down beyond the once blue pond Is treasure fit for kings
Clue #3 -- January 25 Be safe and we pledge, neither cliff nor water's edge Figures in your hunting pursuit What's that you hear? Please, have no fear It was there before we moved in
Clue #2 -- January 24 Snow we have missed much, this not very white Christmas But the ice has come to stay The water's quite frozen at this park we have chosen Along its paths you may while time away
Clue #1 -- January 23 The old curmudgeon was in high dudgeon When a critter ran off with the loot But this year to be credible, we've made it inedible And stuck it in a park — so scoot!
if ya got any advice on any give me a holler. we love the noodl'in. i feel like i'm using my brain again. for good or bad is yet to be determined.
p.s. go see High on Stress Thursday the 27th, 9pm, Station 4!!!
had a great time this last weekend gearin up for some medallion hunting. hanging out with some new people from every walk of life and it was just so fun. nick and i went to "No Time For Cold Feet" at the Bell. nick was also in the flick with all the other stars. hehe. i totally recommend it to all. its coverage of the hunt and the way it portrayed the intesity was soo cool. then saturday night i gottsa hang out with all the movie stars. i think i was star struck by the bunch of st. paulites that hit the movie screen. trent and jackie the producers did such a good job. that is from an outsiders perspective because this is my first year joining the hunt and wow is there a rep to try to live up to and prove that i might be strong enough to make the push to find that darn medallion! on the other hand today is monday and that makes my back hurt. i'm old!
i can even breath thru my nose! yup i do feel better today. went to work for a few hours and my body wouldn't let me do anymore. so now i'm home gonna eat and watch some movies. see how that goes. hopeful to be back to a full day tomorrow. it stinks being sick but i think my body gave me no choice. i had stressed myself out over the sale and now it was telling me to take a break and i didn't want to so it gave it to me good. office space style. out back with a hammer!
yup, i'm sick. little lupey and not feeling too hot, probably miss work tomorrow as well. that parts not so bad, except the catching up part when i get back on wednesday. on the bright side...i do think sweat pants and ginormous sweat shirts and tank tops are hot, even furry slippers! good thing my outfit is smok'in. later.
or maybe just typical...dinner and drinks...tonight...the liffey is the hot spot. then back to play some raging scrabble...talking about overtime and health plans. yikes! maybe not so fantabulous but it's definately the high life. or not. either way...good times!!!
news on the front...
i am very excited about the winter carnival this year. it reminds me so much of the small town winter jubilee that happens up in the nord land. but bigger and better and maybe a little crazier. reading all about how there is a cooler crew that gets together and discusses clues and has a message board, they have their own little community. i love it. 'ponders' if they let newbie's in very easily... pretty neat. and all the other events that take place. wish i would have known more about it last year living so close to it all. new friends, new adventures, hot chocolate, maybe even spiked. hehe. kind of pumped for a more exciting yet freezing next few weeks.
woohoo to coffeehouses, dancing in my hallway to music, movies, the theater, mountains, rock'in shows, art shows, spending time with my close friends and family, and traveling. i have been all around the u.s. and to europe twice with plans to go to australia and italy.
the problem I have with scrabble is spellchecker has made me a lazy speller. so yeah, I'll sit there and waste time deciding how to spell even the simplist of words and I suck at that. oh well, it's fun either way.
I just stick with simple 3 or 4 letter words, that I know how to use..... like "poop", or "apple", or "shirt". It makes my opponents mad, but who cares, as long as im getting points?!?
*edit* notice that only one of those words contains 4 letters, and none of them contain 3?
Greetings again from High on Stress Whirled Congratulations Headnickles in steamy Lowertown.
Who ever said Country's getting too old to go out on a weeknight clearly didn't know about the excitement going down this Thursday at Lee's Liquor Lounge. We are opening for Pat MacDonald of Timbuk3 (Remember them, "Future's So Bright, I've Gotta Wear Shades" Well, if not check them out at: http://www.timbuk3music.com/info.html).
We play at 9:30, and there is NO COVER!!! That means more money for beer! It's almost too good to be true!
Bring your camera to get lots of pictures of yourself in front of the great taxidermy they have collected down at Lee's.
Let's pack the joint!
Rock like you've never been to Spain, but you kind of like the music.
Hell we all can come to my place like on a weekend or somefin :) I got a tiny lil apt.. but we could make it work! Dude... in the summer... we should have a cooler crew camp out.. like.. where we all go camping and just party it up. THAT would kick ass!
Rummikub is played like the card game Rummy, but with tiles like scrabble. Rather than trying to get the highest score, the object is to get rid of all your tiles.  You're allowed to "swap" with anything that anyone else has laid down. Lots of fun!
i'm a cooler crew chick! wwwhheeeee! and i will soon have a cache out there somewhere...very exciting. http://www.geocaching.com
from what i hear i should by a GPS unit and quit my job now so that i don't get fired and then start the hunt for myself. and many other cache's. i have an addictive personality so bring it on. w00t! hehe. anyways...i've heard living in cardboard boxes isn't so bad!
this last weekend was another goodie...
thursday my cousin molly came up to spend the night for an interview at the U's veterinary school very exciting and it went well. fingers crossed! then her, nick, and i went out for a drinkypoo. take some of the stress off!
friday was a laxy night. took nick's puppykins bucky for a walk down by lake phalen and then bumbed around finally going to the grudge at the cheap theater. scary jumpy movie with no end. definately not on the elissa recommends list. good thing it was at the cheapo or i feel we may have cried!
saturday was the torchlight parade in st. paul for the winter carnival. followed by some sweet fireworks over the river. love love fireworks. but then anything sparkly makes me slow down to gawk! then a little entertainment with the cooler crew et al at great waters. wwwhhheeeee...always a good time!
oh my i've been busy...
then sunday. superbowl sunday. went to the rehashbash at crosby farm park where the medallion was found. twas a grrreat time. i love smelling like campfire! the finders came as well and took us to the exact spot where they found the medallion. i think i started to cry a little when i saw the spot. 3m, nick and i had dug the crap out of that tree. dangnabit!!! til next year. argh! then went to nicks moms house for some super duper home cookin and the game...of which i had to power nap through the 2nd quarter. weird how that works. i think i would have just past out while walking if i didn't lay down. hehe. anyways...twas a neato fantabulous weekend even though it's over and i have to wait five days for another! ;)
Ive already taken several precautions.... hiding sparkly things that may be seen, when she's around.... you know, like x-mas tree tinsel, flashy lights, and that stripper shirt that I like to wear so often.

VERY cool name BTW
Hey coco, I read in one of your posts about a medallion hunt up in nisswa. I lived up there about 6 years back in my high school days.
It's weird, I have my senior yearbook and it goes back to 7th grade, that Dru Sjodin (sp?) was in there as a 7th grader at the time.
cool, so I'm not ancient or anything yet :)
Damn.... tis a small world, aint it? :)
cocorosie.....can you post your blog posts here as well....I don't want to be boucing to read it.......if you don't mind.....
lol... dude... your lazy.

hey elissa- I was checking your blog out and I think it's cool that you play scrabble, I dominate scrabble! (actually I suck, but I think it's fun).
thanks kitch...i'll try to stay on that. if i miss it feel free to update for me :p
the problem I have with scrabble is spellchecker has made me a lazy speller. so yeah, I'll sit there and waste time deciding how to spell even the simplist of words and I suck at that. oh well, it's fun either way.

Board Game JOE!!
FOR ANYONE POSSIBLY INTERESTED:
Dearest Elissa!
Greetings again from High on Stress Whirled Congratulations Headnickles in
steamy Lowertown.
Who ever said Country's getting too old to go out on a weeknight clearly didn't
know about the excitement going down this Thursday at Lee's Liquor Lounge. We
are opening for Pat MacDonald of Timbuk3 (Remember them, "Future's So Bright,
I've Gotta Wear Shades" Well, if not check them out at:

We play at 9:30, and there is NO COVER!!! That means more money for beer! It's
almost too good to be true!
Bring your camera to get lots of pictures of yourself in front of the great
taxidermy they have collected down at Lee's.

Sounds like the makings of a board game group?
We should :) all get together on a weekend and play some games!
Hell we all can come to my place like on a weekend or somefin :) I got a tiny lil apt.. but we could make it work! Dude... in the summer... we should have a cooler crew camp out.. like.. where we all go camping and just party it up. THAT would kick ass!
Trivial Pursuit and Rummikub are what gets played the most around here....
I love Trivial Pursuit! I've never played Rummikub.
Rummikub
anything with rum gets me going ...
Rummikub is a great game! If you haven't tried it, you just don't know what you're missing.
Rummikub is played like the card game Rummy, but with tiles like scrabble. Rather than trying to get the highest score, the object is to get rid of all your tiles.  You're allowed to "swap" with anything that anyone else has laid down. Lots of fun!

then sunday. superbowl sunday. went to the rehashbash at crosby farm park where the medallion was found. twas a grrreat time. i love smelling like campfire! the finders came as well and took us to the exact spot where they found the medallion. i think i started to cry a little when i saw the spot.
