I missed you guys too this year. We had some medical issues (nothing serious, don't worry) and a few other minor issues that all came into being right as the hunt got heavy, so I didn't make it out much. :-(
Finally got caught up on all my singles club stuff that had fallen behind during the hunt. And wouldn't you know it, right about the same time as the hunt, traffic on our website tripled for some reason. Maybe that warm spell got people thinking about spring and that got them thinking about love. Whatever the reason, it seemed urgent to make sure everything on the website was updated to take advantage of the upswing should it continue.
So anyway, I've got 12 clues outlined and 3 clues written thus far. Should have the whole thing done before too long. This one will definitely be interesting and will likely go to the best noodler.
So now let's talk about the prize. In the past we've had prizes as high as $500. But that was the result of a few people contributing a lot, some people contributing some, and a lot of people throwing in nothing. Being unemployed myself, I can understand not having money to contribute. But at the same time I don't want to pressure a few people to throw in a lot of money. So what I'm asking for is people to chip in $10 (or something with a rough value of $10 or so). You can throw in more if you like, but I'm only asking for $10. And you don't have to chip in anything to participate, but if the finder is someone who chipped in, then I will add another $25 to the pot. It's kind of an experiment, but I think it ends up being a little more fair in the end.
Thus far I've gotten money from Randy Rust, a guest of Randy (suck up to him if you like as this friend is unspecified), OT, and a guy who goes by Lucky Strike. I thought I read another $20 was coming from the movie fund? Was that from anyone in particular? You can pay me at Fabulous Fern's or you can send me the money before that by Pay Pal or by mail. But I think I'm going to cut off the "registrations" when the 4th clue comes out.
The clues will come out daily at 6pm starting on Sunday March 6th (although the first one may be slow to post online as I'll be at Fern's). I'll post them here as well as on my Yahoo group. The treasure will be hidden on public property in St. Paul. This year the coin you are looking for is a casino chip (not from a local casino either).
As usual, finding the treasure will not involve digging or going underground, climbing a tree, going on water (frozen or otherwise), getting on top of buildings (or in them for that matter), going up or down steep cliffs, opening anything that was meant to be shut, rooting around areas with electricity, or anything else that might seem like an unwise idea.
I think that should cover it for now. Any questions?
Can you put it off a week? I won't be here the weekend of the 6th. ;)
At this point, I don't think that's too likely. Besides, it's just the first clue. Or then again, maybe someone will find it on the first clue this year?
I neeeed coffee - anyone coming in here today, please bring a mocha from Caribou-thanks -
