1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

You can also see the red SUN from the Sunray sign at Conway...it could be the 3M sign and the Sunray sign.

It is one or the other, not both.

I don't want to comment on where in the park I think it is until we get a better clue...right now I have no idea. I was back and forth in the park about ten times today.

the garage logic think is also headed to conway to increase our CI and see if anyone is playing some conway twitty

Clue #10 says something about a crooner (singer) and a funny man (comedian) with first name and last name (or something like that - I don't have it right here). I

believe they're saying CONWAY Twitty for the singer and Tim CONWAY for the funny man. So, it's in Conway.

it is conway it pointya sdirectly to it retards

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:31 AM Permalink

o.k. two men share the same name one is a crooner and one is a 'funny man' crooner is a singer, is this true?

Thanks CA Transplant. What about the first half Whats in a name in todays little game As a pointer it could be unsurpassed

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:33 AM Permalink
CA Transplant

Yes, dan and barbi. That's it. I think it's in the last line of the clue, but like I said I don't have it here with me right now and I don't want to leave the site to read it

because of the problems with the server.

I94 east from downtown, exit on Ruth and take a left, go three blocks and you're there.

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:34 AM Permalink
CA Transplant

Donut Man, I think they're referring to Conway being "what's in the name" they are hinting at in the last line of the clue. As a pointer it is unsurpassed, because it's

saying the name of the park where the Med is.

nathan roub

know conway like the back of my hand

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:35 AM Permalink

Crooner is a soft spoken singer or to sing in a soft voice into a closely held microphone

DONUGHT MAN, that is just all about conway, i dont think there is anymore to this clue but conway...

CA Transplant

Well, DM, I might be too simple minded or making the clue fit the park I think it's in - Conway. But, I'm open to exploring other options. It really seems like

Conway's it. What do you think? It's possible you're reading too much into "crooner" and it really is just a singer.

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:38 AM Permalink

How does Clue No. 6 fit Conway ??

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:39 AM Permalink
Peppercorn

Why was the web crossing down? Did the pp shut it down on purpose, or were there technical problems? Sometimes I wonder if they might shut it down when the

language gets bad, or people start abusing it by having fights in the water cooler.

nathan what are some of your ideas on 9 5 4. I have heard that I 94 is there and that minnehaha is hwy 5 and that the park is in between

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:40 AM Permalink
nathan roub

what is clue 6 and ill tell you how it fits

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:40 AM Permalink
dan and barbi

let's brainstorm... i don't know any thing about conway. how could you fit the flying down hill part from #2? how about the studying the past and iconoclast from #4

or learning or goal from#5 trees in a line? #7 and what the hell is round and white and streched tight, glowing translucent peak? #8 i got the water tower in #9 but

what about the red object? how about the pointer in todays clue?

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:41 AM Permalink
nathan roub

monkee love it is I94 and highway 5, you could take that but i dont think they would tell you the park that fast and if you read that clue i dont think they would use

the 4 that way, it would be to obvious

Mrs. Banner

My husband and I were there until 1a.m. So many people were still there when we left. The noise from all the shovels made it sound like a Siberian work camp.

Almost eerie!

We had a bad thought on the drive home: what if someone has already found the thing as is just hanging onto it in order to laugh at us fools? Perhaps its just our

frustration in that it seems like there is nowhere left to dig or look at Conway!

Tue, 02/02/1999 - 10:41 AM Permalink

dan and barbi sorry i cant tell you that
