I had a great time alone on my birthday. I went out by myself and had a really good time. ( my wife has to work) My favorite part was going out to the railroad bridge in Hudson, Wi. and listening to the geese at 3 am and the 1/2 frozen river and full moon. (or mostly) Was great! One of my favorite all time spots! Wish I had my camera along!

Woman calls cops when KDWB contest fans get carried away.
BY AMY CARLSON GUSTAFSON
Pioneer Press
The only thing Mary Meisinger wanted to do Thursday was to make Easter cookies with her 2-year-old daughter, Isabelle. But after an unnerving trip to Sam's Club in White Bear Lake, the North St. Paul resident wasn't about to leave home again to buy cookie cutters.
On that errand to buy baking supplies, Meisinger was followed by three separate men — in the parking lot at Sam's Club, again at a Maplewood strip mall and finally into her driveway.
"I pulled in my driveway, and I was talking on the phone to my husband because I was very upset," said Meisinger. "(A man) followed me up my driveway and got out of his car to approach my vehicle. I just laid on the horn — I was terrified."
If Meisinger had been a KDWB listener, she might have realized that the three "stalkers" were among the many Twin Citians playing amateur detective as part of radio station's "The $10,000 Fugitive" contest.
Meisinger happened to share some of the key attributes of the "fugitive" described in the more than 50 clues the station has revealed since March 7. But the first she heard of the contest was when one of the men following her uttered the sentence required to win the prize: "Are you the 101.3 KDWB $10,000 fugitive?"
"I just looked at him and said, 'I don't know what you're talking about,' " Meisinger said. "I got back in the car and turned on the radio station and then I heard about the contest. I heard they were looking for a woman in a black SUV that was spotted in North St. Paul."
The hunt for the "fugitive" has led people to the Mall of America, to phone booths and to Rainbow Foods in search of a woman who wears jeans, doesn't like cigarette smoke, goes to Starbucks and has a dog. But the station says a complaint from Meisinger's husband is the only one they've received.
"Since the call today and since people are beginning to get really excited about the contest, we've stepped up announcements on air," said Dan Seeman, vice president and general manager for Clear Channel's local radio properties, which include KDWB. "We are being very specific, telling people not to trespass, not to go on private property and not to expect that you have to chase this person down."
He attributed Meisinger's experience to "some people getting a little too enthusiastic" about the contest. He said the point is for listeners to have fun following the clues and hunting for the "fugitive."
"It's like the Winter Carnival medallion hunt," Seeman said. "Each clue gets you a little closer to the point where if you don't get it, you're not paying attention. We fully expect the fugitive to be found within the next couple of days."
Meisinger, who reported the incident to North St. Paul police, doesn't see the fun it.
"They scared me to death," she said. "I was just going out to get butter to make cookies. Now, I don't want to leave the house."
thanks Kitch for posting it. I did see through the orange wrapper of my newspaper that it was on the front page but I havnt read it yet. Now I dont have to.
That would be scary- I always carry my cell on me. KDWB shoulda been more careful though to use a woman as the fugitive -unless she stays in a public place. Those idiot guys should of NEVER approached her at a house/dwelling.
anyone hear about the partial finger in the Wendy's chili? my sister has found hair and other crap on different occasions-she won't eat it anymore even though its good chili.
the more I think about the chili thing the more I really think someone 'offed' the woman! I bet there is more of her in chili all around the country. Kinda like the Hoffa thing.
weird contest... interesting, but a bad idea, especially considering people can fit the description easily. I would be a better contest if they did it differently.
Yesterday we flew out of the "mobile, al" airport....my 4 yr old daugter is VERY observant and its scary.....
When we walked into the airport she saw an Easter Bunny...not a big deal...I told her she has to wait until we check bags..she was good about this....
We walked over to the easter bunny had a photo taken and walked away. Katie made the comment.."dad, that's not the Real Easter bunny..said that bunny is just good for handing out suckers". I asked her how she knew that...she said, "easy he's got a zipper in the back of his suit".
then walking thru the airport she said to me..."dad, those people are just starting their vacation." I asked her how she knows that.... she said, "because they don't look tan yet"
shorty after we saw a bunch of college age kids kinda sleeping on the floor in the airport.....what does katie say to me?? "dad....they must be hung over"....hahah!!! thata a girl!! I've tought you well.
The flight back home was great....I'm going to now try to avoid NORTHWORST the rest of my LIFE...SunCountry is SOOO NICE...food, lots of pop, friendly, the works...
We'd better watch out. The four year olds are getting way too smart! I'm watching one of my four year old grandsons today and we were talking about spiders. I told him that some spiders have 100 legs and are called centipedes. Was just being kinda general with the spider thing. ;) He says to me, "Actually, they aren't really spiders". Haha! Smarty pants.
"It's like the Winter Carnival medallion hunt," Seeman said. "Each clue gets you a little closer to the point where if you don't get it, you're not paying attention.
heh
