A curious fellow died one day and found himself waiting in the long line of judgment. As he stood there he noticed that some souls were allowed to march right through the pearly gates into Heaven. Others though, were led over to Satan who threw them into the burning pit. But every so often, instead of hurling a poor soul into the fire, Satan would toss a soul off to one side into a small pile. After watching Satan do this several times, the fellow's curiosity got the best of him. So he strolled over and asked Satan what he was doing. "Excuse me, Prince of Darkness," he said. "I'm waiting in line for judgment, but I couldn't help wondering, why are you tossing those people aside instead of flinging them into the Fires of Hell with the others?" "Ah, those," Satan said with a groan. "They're all Medallion Hunters from Minnesota... They're still too cold and dampto burn.
I really hate 'em. I guess you go to remember and say goodbye, and to comfort those you're with.
Today I am returning to Owatonna for the second one in two weeks, same family. My wife's aunt passed away, and now her closest cousin. Only 56 years old, he was a 30 year hunting buddy of mine. Other than his dad, an old army cook, David could take the strangest ingredients and make excellent meals, on a coleman stove.
We've known for weeks he didn't have long to live, but it's very hard to accept. It'll be a tough day.
Hi Ian. John was telling us about the hidden boxes, so I did some searching, and found the geocaching site, and then I guessed that King Boreas was you, and turns out I was right! How is that for intuition. I seem to recall that you guys had winter carnival plates on your wall when I was there once for graduation?
John is David's brother and another guy in our hunting party. At his mother's funeral two weeks ago, I talked to him about hunting last year. Kris, Kollin and I did not go. I mentioned my cache that I placed there in November 2001. He didn't remember much about it. This is the hidden box that Sandi was referring to.
I had no idea that she had access to the internet, or would even be able to find the info that she found.
John really wanted to take David hunting one last time in November, but he wasn't able to travel. Sandi found my Beaver Dam cache, which is very near our "hunting grounds", and printed out all the info, logs, and photos. Sandi, John and David read it all. Those brothers have been through that swamp a time or two, so they knew the exact route that Jamie and his girlfriend took in to the cache.
In this manner, David returned to the north woods one last time.
Take a look at the photos, especially the last one of the girlfriend and dog in the truck.
