Characters are members of the Teamsters union. I believe they are only allowed in costume for like 15 minutes at a time.

wow. i never would have guessed. that sure explains why they have to go on break for a few minutes when they're out for a while. who knew cinderella was a teamster.

My understanding the best week is one week b4 thanksgiving.

actually, any time between now and that week is good. lines are really short. i think in the week we were there we had to get a fastpass once.

Now is a great time because school just started. Christmas is really busy which is why we always went at the beginning of December because everyone was trying to use their Christmas break. We lived 3 hours away so it was an easy trip.

Cinderella a teamster:):smile: Did you watch the parade in the middle of the day? Were they in the snowglobes? If you saw it those snow globes are actually air conditioned. It is amazing what they do.

No it wasn't.

I went to school at Dr Phillips High School. You can find it on the southside of Universal studios. I mean like they share traffic lights.

There was always something fun to do on skip days

You don't take costumes home. You pick them up each start of the day.

Disney was fun... but I wish we would have gone to universal when I was there.... sounded/looked like it would have been more fun.....

plus.... the day we were at disney, it had rained like 3 days straight, and there was about 3 feet of water everyplace you went in the park....

whatever that roller-coaster thing thats in the dark practically the whole time... that was cool... the "its a small world" ride, rocked some....... and that "world of tomorrow" or whatever it was called, was kinda neat... it was a rotating stage, that showed kitchens from different era's....

Carosel of Progress. Disney created that and it was presented at the world fair. They usually dont have it open now because it it too expensive to maintain.

Yeah it is still the end of summer. Right now they close it during the the really slow times. They are expecting to close it for good some time later this year. It was also open while they did the construction on Stitch's great escape.

By the way....how was that ride?

I liked all the old Epcot rides. They did away with most of them over the years. Of course now you can enjoy test track and mission to mars

i've got pics from inside that on our trip to disneyland last year.

man, i had a lot of fun playing with the manual settings on my camera this trip. i was able to get some really good fireworks pix (rumor has it they shoot of $3 million a night in fireworks down there), as well as some good pictures from inside rides like the haunted mansion and pirates (without using flash), and some video caps of both of them.

I went to Disneyland way back in '79 and MIssion to Mars was pretty lame if I remember. It was a big room with a round movie screen in the floor and ceiling and it showed movies like you were blasting off. The seats sunk down a bit during take off but that was about it from what I can remember. I assume they've updated things a bit since then?
Mon, 10/03/2005 - 10:35 AM Permalink
ares

oh yeah just a little bit. now you're in a fully enclosed room, with these little 4-person subrooms. on a centrifuge. when you're taking off the centrifuge is spinning (pulling you backwards, just like a liftoff would be). how they manage to simulate the free-float effects i'm not quite sure, but i imagine the centrifuge spins down and the seats angle so that the top is farther out than the bottom.

It was always a sure-stop when hitting any fair.

The Gravitron amusement ride is a whirling cylinder which uses centrifugal force to hold riders to their seats as the seats rise, giving the illusion that the floor is dropping out. The ride is also called the Starship, Old Blue, and Trip to Mars. There are approximately 190 such rides in the U.S. and Canada.

On April 2, 2004, at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition in Florida, a wall panel of the Gravitron ride gave way, ejecting three riders. Seven people were injured, including two bystanders who were hit by debris. Injuries included broken bones, concussions, and bruises. A 16-year-old girl ejected from the ride was critically injured.

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml04/04156.html

bystanders who were hit by debris That's not nice to refer to riders as debris. They're people for God's sake.

Can you imagine flying out when that thing was spinning at top speed. Whaaaaaaaaa Hoooooooooo!!  :lipsealed: :worried:

Only in Minnesota can it change over 50 degrees within 50 hours.

Wicked Nick

huh....

I could turn that into a cool gameshow segment if I had the right equpiment...

you get asked trivia questions or something....while spinning around.... and if you get it wrong, your section of wall dissappears and you go flying out.....

but there would have to be a way to make it so people wouldnt actually "fly away"....

bungee cords, perhaps?
