last year I started out with a hammer! lol I didn't have a shovel, cause it was broken. The hammer is not a good tool, and definitely not my favorite... but it's funny to remember and visualize. (I did borrow a shovel the next day!)

If the weather doesn't get above 32, we may not need an ice chopper this year. Kind of a catch 22

I agree with you that this clue probably isn't going to help alot until we are in the right park.

Does anyone have a "list" of potential parks?

After the poster's name is a set of two numbers showing the number of the post and the total number of posts (i.e. 335 of 350). The first number is underlined. If you click on it, it will put that post at the top of the page and if there are any new posts, they will follow, so just click on the last post of the page to refresh.

As for tools, I just bought this rake thing last night. The blades are very short and curved like semicircles. Looks like a whole bunch of little ice choppers all in a row with a perpendicular handle. Looks like it would be great for sifting snow or chopping ice. Also have a flat end shovel just in case. Can't wait to use them.

OR..... The king is coronated at the Roy Wilkins audiorium.... Also...there is a 'boreaus' x-country ski event at phalin....(which we know isn't the spot cuz there's golf there).

Hello Fellow Hunters! Ok. So has anyone given thought to the tower reference and Highland? "A tower or two"... the "one" old brick water tower across from the "two" new water towers . Hmmm? Maybe?

I looked up info. on King Boras. He's considered the "north wind" and I have to agree with the theory of the "North" direction with looking for the 1 or 2 towers. I'm not having any feelings on a park downtown because the theory of downtown doesn't seem to fit. It has to be a park that can easily see St. Paul and it being in the north direction of the park while 1 or 2 towers are visible. Now that I'm totally confused. I did throw out the concept of Battle Creek last night here in a post with the theory of "Ace" being a fighter in a "battle", hince, Battle Creek. Any thoughts?

Lillian, I like the concept of Highland and the towers. I thought I read something about construction happening there or was it at another park. Any info. on what park I'm talking about?

hey Allison, what's your rake thingy called and where do I get one?! hehe

Where did you find information that said King Boreas was the "north wind"?

From battle creek, looking "north" would be consistent with boreaus x-country event at phalin. An indirect connection but can be made.

Or, west toward downtown where 'boreaus' is housed/crowned.

I like the ace/battle connection. Battle is near an airport too isn't it? Also, 'ace' can be a diamond. Diamond markers are used for 'hardest' x-country skiing trails, which are plentiful in battle creek. Not sure where the water towers or others are in/near this park.

If Boreas is crowned at Roy Wilkins then I would have to say Kellogg, especially with those first two clues both possibly suggesting the Wild. I still hold my contention that the medallion is taped to a Wild Hockey Puck (perhaps with ACE Bandage Tape).

I am off to class. But is there not a good view of all of the planes coming and going from highland. YOu know the whole ace thing. That and the old and new water towers mentioned by ? earlier.

What other "towers" are there? I think water towers are too obvious....perhaps large buildings or something??

The apartments at Galtier Plaza across from Mears park is called the "Towers".

Okay, I’m brand new to this message board stuff, so forgive me if I breach an etiquette or two. But here is my take. Clue one, it’s in St. Paul, maybe in the general vicinity of Swede Hollow (Vikings reference). Kinda vague, but so be it. Clue 2 leads me to believe it may be somewhere in the area of the Metro State St. Paul Campus. “Set your own pace” (Metro State is for working adults who primarily attend part time), “it could make you an ace” (acing a test?) Or for the airport buffs, Holman field is right down the bluff and across the river. “get yourself out and into the chase (reference to the Paper Chase?) Clue 3, Of course the New Main building at Metro has twin towers. The reference to King Boreas’ direction could mean downtown, or the site of the last ice castle, which is the home of King Boreas. I’m thinking Mounds Park? Maybe Swede Hollow.

ok, anyone notice their is a big ONE on top of (what i think is) the 2nd largest tower in st.paul. it can be seen from conway, cherokee, and a few other parks.

are you talking about that bank downtown with the 1 that lights up?

What does the 1 have to do w/ anything?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 2:14 PM Permalink

a tower or two, i dont know, just random noodleing, but yes the first national bank

There are also more than a few cellular towers in or near many of the parks.

My knee-jerk reaction after seeing this clue was "great, now we're getting somewhere." However after thinking a little, it really doesn't narrow it down much. The clue could mean:

1. North-- you must look north in order to see the towers (from any park where towers are visible)...referring to the actual location of the medallion. Or if you are in a northern park, look for 2 (unspecified) towers in any direction.

2. St. Paul-- you must face downtown St. Paul from the appropriate park to see the previously mentioned towers. Keep in mind this could be a tower such as the 1st bank building, a water tower, or a cellular tower.

3. North AND St. Paul-- you must be to the south of downtown St. Paul, and be able to look in Boreas' direction (north) AND his direction (downtown St. Paul).

The only thing I have truly taken from this clue is that the park most likely has a direct line of sight to downtown St. Paul. I agree with a previous post about what HASN'T been mentioned: water, woods, etc.... Then again we're still only 3 clues in.

Noodle with me.

P.S. If Mr. 3.1415 happens to show up again tonight and starts Joe-ing everybody, I emphasize the importance of taking the high road: silence-- he will go away, then.

Wright Winger--I don't know what it is, but i have this feeling that it is downtown for some reason. Still a little too early to tell... what do you think?

what parks can you see downtown from? i know you can from conway, and cherokee, but can you from battlecreeK?

Stepp Dog:

Nice going...you may not have even realized the big red "one" is sometimes called an "ace" It means a hole in ONE in golf and is the ONE-card in the deck. Teamwork.

Hey Guys -

Looks like Joe-Joe Medallion is back in the form of Pie... The guy is hilarious but I agree not to break the silence oath....

I'm still lost on clues but think its a small park because of the lack of woods/water clues - we'll no more at midnight!

ahhhh....interesting Duane. I never thought of that. You can see thae bank clearly from mounds park, but it's too early to pinpoint parks...where are you thinking it might be?

It's Highland!

I like mounds, just drove through there. There are parts of the park where you can line up the tower in mounds with the 1st. bank tower. Ace also can refer to flying aces at the airport

Too early to say...ask me tonight or tomorrow night. Right now I'd say the farther away you get from downtown, the closer you are to the frog pond.

Ace = Tennis courts, race = the track around the football field. All of that is near the corner of Montreal and Snelling which when you look to the north, you see the 2 water towers

Mr. Med Hunter, I looked up King Boras on C4 for general information. It brought me to Greek Myth. The first thing it said was he was considered the "northwind". Didn't look much further because I'm at work and would like to keep working and earning vacation time for next week. I still say it can't be downtown because then you're surrounded by large buildings and can't really see the towers or what the "ace" might mean. Tonight should give us even more direction.
