A random thought, not to be read for any reason other than entertainment. Here's my theory: remember the Vikings reference in clue #1? Well, what if the "two towers" are Carter and Moss? Are there any streets with these names? Aw, nevermind; I just had to get that out of my system. I'll try to be more helpful next time. And I do like Big Shooter's line of thinking so far.

Hey kid minn:

Regarding Carter and Moss...I think you're REED-ing too much into the clues :~)

Kid Minneapolis,

Never apologize for a theory. Its that kind of thinking that will reward you.

Carter and Moss would be a good excuse to throw the tower thing in their and mess us all up. I can see everyone looking at the explanatons and saying "WHAT!!!!!".

and saying "WHAT!!!!!".

Actually I picture Mrs. Broslovski saying her "what, what, what!"

Predictions for Clues 4 - 6

One will contain a reference to the parks name

One will contain a reference to where in the park it is hidden

And the other will contain a reference to a landmark

One of these 3 will will have a "double clue"

Rock on......

leelabell, where did you find a list of parks in Ramsey County? Could you post it?

Hey shooter:

Any chance an ace could be a Big Red One on top of a tower somewhere? Hmmmm where could there be a big red one on top of a tower? I'm stumped.

GSeven,

You only need parks in St. Paul - per the first clue.

Where does the current King Boreas' live? Could it mean looking in the direction of his house?

Electric Duane,

Yes, it could be that Big Red One, that has not been ruled out on my list. Any input on "pace"?

Electric Duane, I think you may be right. That park is the most likely in my book from the clues so far. It still is early, I'm going to dig there a bit tonight. The park is so small I don't think the next several clues will give much help if it is there.

The link for all the parks in Ramsey county is http://www.friendsoftheparks.org/

It lists EVERY park, including neighborhood parks. However, there is a search engine to help you only pick the parks in St. Paul.

Big shooter, I don't think pace means much, maybee a pace picante lid?? Chase could be the main clue here, and Chase is right across the street. Chase court reporting on Kellogg Blvd.

Prediction Number 2

A clue will reference Jessie the Body....

Hey everyone, I just got registered and thought I better say something just to be recognized by all.

Here is my latest belief: Only 3 clues have been revealed so far and It is still TOO early to start believing it is at any one park...You won't be able to pinpoint the park until clue 6...maybe 7, from myt short but past experience, especially last year spending countless hours at Newell park digging and digging only to realize it was at conway was not worth it. The clues so far are way to vague, it could be any park. My early inclination is highland (The 2 water towers and next to the blue water tower is a par three hole on the G.C. (ace) - Boreus leads me to belive that it is easiest to see the water towers from the south side...looking north (king of north winds)...anyway, my perception right now is that the south side of Highland is the key, but once again it is too early to be sure on a park and not even close enough to go dig yet. Anyway, let me know what you think about my ideas...I've read yours and agree to a slight degree with a lot.

Hello Highlander! I believe it is at Highland Park, but probably won't dig until Friday. My opinion could change five times by then! Good Luck!

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:35 PM Permalink
New Daddy

Hi Highlander! I Agree it is very early. Highland could be a good choice, I dug at Newell early last year also. It wasn't a waste cause if it was there we would of had first chance. I am stuck on the word Chase and I no 1 word does not a treasure find but it still keeps nagging at me.

Can anyone else realize that the PP might be spelling out the park???

You are wise beyond your years Highlander.

If you are at the correct park now, you are more lucky than smart.

New Daddy: did you happen to see a hole at newell...about 40 feet by 40 feet? That was too much work for me, it burned me out and now I am afraid to go out early :)

Highlander-

I don't know... somehow Highland doesn't seem right, but that's just my hunch, take it or leave it. And I think that the towers at Highland are a bit too obvious; I'm thinking you can see towers in the distance, and the Highland ones are too close. However, I agree that it's too early to call a specific park.

I would bet it won't even be in the vacinity of any golf course, each green is worth three times as much as the bounty and we all know how some search and destroy.

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:41 PM Permalink
The Artist For…

Kid: I respect your idea about too obvious because it does seem WAY too obvious...but Highland is such a large park...If it is there, they wouldn't mind giving you a good idea already, it would still take a lot of clues to pinpoint any certain place at Highland.

The Artist For…

Has anyone ever thought about the two buildings...possibly the two largest in MPLS....visible from the park the medallion is at???? Just a theory, anyone know when the last time the medallion was at Highland?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:45 PM Permalink
Jett

I stand my ground and still want it to be highland. As far as the clues and towers go. "i don't have them in front of me, just a pile of college books) Did it not say a tower or two? That would eliminate the water towers, not to say they are not in reference to something else out there. Newell is the one on Pierce Butler correct?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:48 PM Permalink
StepDogg

Everyone was so sure it was at highland last year and it wasn't. All I can say is that you all have good ideas, but you can see "towers" from anywhere in St. Paul...and every park has places people run...

I don't know, when it was at Como two or three years ago, they gave us the EXACT location of the park in clue #4 so hopefully we won't have to wait too long this year.

SHOWMEDAMONEY

FINALLY! I made it on to the board! Tough to get in so far. So highland is the current favorite?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:48 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

Even if the medallion isn't at a park with a golf course, there will be some idiot thinking that it is on the green of a golf course. They would eliminate any doubt about being at park with a golf course in the rules or the first clue if they were worried. I don't think the first clue was to convincing of stating it isn't at a park with a golf course, but rather that it isn't on the actual golf course.

hmmm... and I keep thinking that one of these years, the clue writers are going to make the clues overly simple because they know we'll all misinterpret them. I don't know that this is the year to take everything at face value, but sometimes "tower" means just that, and Highland does indeed have towers. Not sure what my point is, but I'm keeping an open mind about all the interpretations at this point. Still to early to call, and things aren't even starting to fall into place for me yet.

last year it said water on high to mean the water tower this one only says tower, no reference to water. what other towers are there?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:56 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

the key is a "TOWER" or "2". At highland there is a very old water tower alone. And then there is 2 water towers side to side. the first is a "TOWER", and the last 2 are the "2"

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:56 PM Permalink

hey tim, wouldn't that make 3 towers!!!

Hey, that was last year...not to be mean or anything but you can't take meanings from past years and put them into new ones...the paper does not and would not do that, it's too easy

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 5:59 PM Permalink
tim_the_hunter

It can be either OR. So you can look at the one OR the 2. I am still keeping my options open, but I think Highland will end up being "the park".

Hello all!

Even though it's early, we have often noodled the right park by the third clue. It's not impossible. Just keep an open mind and pay attention to not only what the clues tell you, but what they don't tell you.

you know...I was just thinking, the guy who hides it must just have a blast sitting in the room and reading everyone's ideas and seeing how deep they dig in their bags of tricks, not to say I don't make him laugh also...but my God...WHAT A JOB HE HAS! :)

"Set your own pace" meaning a walkway does seem the simplest interpretation of Clue #2, but two things bother me. One, like so many other things, walkways are a common feature of most parks and to even come out and say directly, "the park has walkways" is hardly to give away anything. So why state it in such an obscure way if that's all it means? And the next line, "If your grasp of these clues is astute" seems to me to be the kind of reference they often use to call attention to the fact that there is a hidden meaning in the clue. I still think its a riddle of some sort.

Does anyone know where to find a listing of all the previous year's clues and explanations? I found the "hiding list" for all years out at coolercrew.com but can't seem to find clues and explanations (other than last year). Thanks!

Allison--I agree with you. I think they are going to have some wierd thing with the clues this year.

Like that one time when the first letter of every clue spelled BATTLE CREEK....the problem is figuring it out!
