Downtown Dave

ON north side of river, bike path starts at top of hill, follows Shepard road, but no RR track. I am not sure that land has a name, but its a cool bike trail if you can put up with traffic. At Shepard an Warner division (Jackson,) there is another seperated trail, that goes to Child's road. Darned if I know the name of that stretch, but it is by RR track. But the clue would have to say water, or boat, or train, or something pretty soon.......

Of course, it has view of airport, for those who like to tie Holman field to "ace", got that big beacon on the bluff at Mounds easily visible for tower one, and big Cemstone plant at Childs for tower too, possibly a cell tower or two....

Thanks, Schletdogg - Lambert's Landing! I can never think of that. Anyway - it was gonna bug me till I found out. Oh well - I am no good at this hunting, and never found anyone that would like to go hunting with me - so mainly its trying to find it while still indoors (looking at the watercooler, the clues, the maps, etc.) until I drive myself crazy. If I think after another clue that it could be a downtown park I would go and check it out. Hopefully this year I will actually get outside looking for the darn thing.

Annette, there's a group of us called the Cooler Crew who kind of work together during the hunt as well as do other things throughout the year. If you really want to not hunt alone, let us know and you can always hang out with us.

Kinda depressing clue. Are there are parks with wells?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:25 PM Permalink
George_Y2G_

Yeah for sure, Grills and a pavilion. NEwell, Cherokee COmo, Phalen

DOenst narrow it down much

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:26 PM Permalink

Also Hidden Falls and Highland as well

George_Y2G_

well i guess i can say that i wasnt expecting much from this one anyway

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:27 PM Permalink

BUT, still no mention of water. That could knock some parks out of the running possibly.

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:28 PM Permalink
George_Y2G_

That doesnt narrow it down much either Highlander

I'm glad my Parks and Rec expertise was of value to you. I work in every city park during the summers, so I feel that I know them well. So far, the clues have pointed to Swede Hollow or Highland for me. Swede Hollow, because of the vikings depression clue, profitable profession (the old Hamm's mansion used to be on the cuurent site and they profitted big-time from their brewery), and the state U clue. I don't know about viewing towers from Swede Hollow, so my enthusiasm for this park has dwindled. Everything makes sense at Highland near the track and tennis courts at the south side of the water towers. However, as a Parks and rec employee, I believe this is considered Highland High School's land and not a city park. Plus, the PP wouldn't want us digging up their football field.

Highland has tennis courts...Montreal at Snelling and another lesser known one just south of the resivors.

Tomorrow....give them like 20 minutes and we will all be talkin about UN pilots again

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:29 PM Permalink
The Artist For…

yeah, but isn't anything across the street from the H.S. considered part of Highland park?

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:31 PM Permalink
George_Y2G_

pretty much

Has anyone gone with anagrams yet on this clue? "read this well"

A profitable profession could relate to prostitution...there was once such a house located where they built the new Science Museum.

Tue, 01/25/2000 - 11:33 PM Permalink
George_Y2G_

Ihavent seen any anagrams yet, i have to rely on others for those not exactly my thing

Allison Wonderland & Leelabell- I appreciate the offers. It would be great to go hunting w/ someone. Perhaps I will just go to one of the parks this weekend and just look and get vibes from others on what their ideas are.
