All these years living close to Highland and I've yearned for the medallion to be there, but I can't get excited about it yet. I'm sure to be let down again. :frown:

That was fun, catching up on the last half hour. Orion pops in, asks a bunch of questions that nobody answers, then says she's leaving for the park. She's like a whirlwind.

Highland has a very small amount of playgournd equipment, and it appears to be pretty new. It's in the picnick area closest to the Big indoor shelter and the booya building.

I wish I had downloaded my photos. There are the strangest signs over there. One shows kidson a teeter totter. The other, from a distance, looks like a man vomiting, but it turns out to be a man drinking from a fountain. I've never seen that as a sign-normally, they show water in a glass.

As I said before, it's a tough park to scope out in a car. Much larger than it appears from the road.

Well with a few more people coming down there late at night and you will probablly see someone vomiting. :lipsealed:

Hello all nice to see so many familiar faces. I've come into the hunt 3 days late and I feel guilty. I'm behind on everything I haven't a clue about the clues so far but then again I've spend about 30minutes total noddling so far.

  • whew* Finally made it through. I dunno, I just don't have an inkling for Highland....yet. I haven't even had a chance to drive by any since the hunt started, so don't mind me!

Hope tonight's clue gives us something more than picnics!!!

I'd love Highland to be the park, but it doesn't feel right....but I've been wrong before.

Now, that I'm all caught up, I need to take a few and socialize with daughter #1 who's been doing first timers skiing lessons and just got home.

Might have to catch a few z's and come back for the clue!

Does anyone have a good argument for the first two lines of clue #3? Why bring up the infamous Vulcan incident if it isn't important.

    Here's my train of thought:

    drink = bad,

vulcan do bad things when drink,

don't do bad things by taking up a child's proclivity,

child's proclivity = inclined not to drink,

when was drink bad = Prohibition, Temperance Movement

    Temperance = abstinence (from drinking)

Temperance Street is two blocks from Alery's Bar

Alery's Bar = site of infamous Vulcan deed

Wacouta Commons Park (new, but very small) is a block from Temperance Street

Brain Hurts...only third clue...already lost my mind...

ok.. back in.. like a whirlwind! hehe..

it gets too scary hunting alone as a girl at night. but highland does look promising to me. I'm holding on to the Pearson's thing for dear life. If it's not there, it's just in a wrapper. 100%.

as far as the park.. and kids, there's still swings for those who were asking. on the "east" side of the park. On the west side there's a ton of new equipment and tables. Two horse shoe game areas, lots of benches.. and a ton of strange signs.

i'd say there were about 20 people out there... not super busy. but there's a spot i'm favoring overlooking 7th and famost daves.. pearsons.. mickeys. I too live near highland and really wish it to be there. And it is a lot bigger than I remembered.. newly renovated and whatnot.

but lots of ice to chip through if it's there... so good luck!

poor evildoer! that's nice noodling! a little too complicated for me tho.. i just try to keep it simple.

but it is odd about the vulcan thing.. i'm still trying to put that together!

Could Mix Drink be refering to any popular drinks that reference a street name?
    Tue, 01/24/2006 - 6:57 PM Permalink
    Terry

    Thanks for that info Oriongirl,

I am thinking that any thoughts of any one particular park = too early.

I tend to lean towards simple explanations for clues. children's proclivities = playing, learning, etc.

I also believe if you have to take the clue and then go to another step to get to a 3rd and sometimes 4th step, you've gone too far.

My take on the Vulcan thing is that it's there to fill they rhyme and to do what the WC folks said would be done. It was an unfortunate incident that was an embarassment to the WC planners, but it's nothing to hide from. Something happened. The WC folks said they would face the music and move forward.

    Not me!

2 or 3 though and I'm pretty buzzed. Shoot, I might grope some barmaidens after more than that. :goofy:

    Terry:

Yeah.. I also think it would be too early to give it away completely. So that part makes me sad. I'd like for it to be highland. But when it's found in a pearson's nut goodie I'll feel better at least.

Keeping it simple! That's what it's all about. You could noodle yourself in a circle if you're not careful. Some of them are a little deeper.. but you can't assume it all is.

Interesting take on the Vulcans. I'm not reading too much into it either.. But it's good to just keep in the thought process! Good luck out there...

Except for Pearson's being near Highland, the rest of the clues could put us just about anywhere.

It's not that a clue would never have two meanings - as in area and what it's in...but it seems to easy on 3 clues to say it's so this time and with this clue.

Hunting at Highland can be a good hunt. Como or Newell or Marydale is closer to us, but Highland is okay too.

Have you heard from JP??? He has been kinda AWOL since we got home, wanted to make sure he is doing alright....

He has a mandatory show up next Fri, Sat, and Sun... (If you hear from him) Not sure if he knows about it or not...

I haven't talked to him in a few weeks at least but he is doing pretty good. His little daughter is the cutest little thing ever but then again I think all babies are. If I happen to see him or talk to him before Friday I'll ask him about work but I would guess he would know about it.

How's life since you've come back?

Hey where is the meeting place this year? Are you all still getting together at GW? What time? I won't be available much this year at night since I work overnights but if you get together early enough I could swing by on my way.

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to come back to real life... well, another day for that....

It has gone pretty well, for the most part. I came back, and that is the best part. I still have a hunt to do, so that's cool... I just wish I had more time to go out and dig...

    ATTENTION, ATTENTION!!

Nobody find the puck until everyone has had a chance to dig. I repeat: Nobody find the puck until everyone has had a chance to dig.

    Thank you.
