Alison, does that list of parks with picnic shelters really cover them all? Though the medallion wouldn't be hidden there this year, Harriet Island wasn't included.

Like the idea from the first letters of the clue: S=south W=west R=regional A=area

Terry

There are two shelters at Newell. They sit side by side on the Pierce Butler side of the park.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:18 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I didn't see any picnic shelters on my map, nor do I remember seeing any there.

With the cash being much higher this year, you gotta think that they'll keep it in relatively larger parks this year.

Duff, as much as I hate newell, the butler line is pretty good.

I thought i read something before but I'm not sure...do king boreas and the ice castle have anything in common?

Clue No. 4: from last year

Studying the past can be quite a blast

But there's value as well in the new

If you're willing to be an iconoclast

The treasure might belong to you

[Many treasure seekers "study the past" in hopes that previous hunts will help them predict where the medallion might be hidden. This year, however, there was "value in the new" because the medallion was concealed at Conway Park for the first time. Therefore, a successful hunter had to be an "iconoclast" -- someone willing to break the old mold by searching in a new place.]

The ice castle is the theoretical home of Boreas, when we have one.

thanks terry, sorry for the bad info

take those first letters, flip the "W" upside down, mix them all around and you have "RAMS" . . .

The Medallion is hidden in St. Louis this year because the Rams beat the Vikings!!!!

I'm heading out to Priceline.com for my airline ticket right now!

Allison - I have rented those shelters for a program I did. Trust me. The shelters are there.

as mythology has it boreas lived in minnestoa during the winter months in an ice palace

If the SWRA clue is really a clue, then we're left with Cherokee, Highland, Crosby and Hidden Falls

harriet island had the last castle

Where else can you gain releif?

You can on a golf course. Get relief from medicine? Rolaids

Any others?

I don't get the butler = newell connection

Pierce Butler?

Barring some hidden meaning, here is what I get from this clue.

Some sort of shelter. Serve = Tennis courts, Cooking = grills

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:23 AM Permalink
human24

There is one shelter at Newell.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:24 AM Permalink

King Boreas aka Ian

Howdy Chris, Terry, Bob, and everyone else. Well, I'm off to work, then I have the rest of the hunt off. See ya out there.

I am still baffled because the PP has not released the clue on the wintercarnival site. This has never happened before. NOt that I can remember

It could be in an umbrella bu that is kinda large to hide it it, There is a shelter at Kelloge they set up for the WC I don't know what its for. But Cooking does make me think of picnic shelters. Phalen has several shelters, I have also rented the two shelters at Newel

Some places to gain relief from the rain.

Will serve to help you as your looking.

Read this well and you just might obtain.

A clue that will really get you cooking

Still, Harriet Island has a lot of construction and it was just there recently and there's been no mention of water, so I don't think its there. Maybe they are under the big note in the map that says the park is closed and under construction.

MedallionStallion

They would go and put it in Newell, just to piss me off I bet.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:25 AM Permalink
Terry

Hey Ian! Don't work too hard. Save up that energy for digging!

There is one indoor shelter at Newell and two smaller concrete shelters.

Did clue 4 ever make it up? My browser will not load it. I have tried netscape and explorer with no success. Will someone please post it or refer to a posting with the clue. Thanks

Are there any grills at Newell? And if so, how many?

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:27 AM Permalink

I would asy that the key words to this clue are WELL & SERVE

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:27 AM Permalink

there are shelters at every park in St. Paul!!!

New twist to the RAMS inverted anagram theory:

Guess what road goes through Mounds Park? WARNER ROAD!!!

I was at the chatroom when Derick got the clue at 11:20 man

This whole thing is a set up! They had to know that that Vikes would lose! And that St. Louis would beat Tampa! That explains those horrible last second instant replay calls by the "upstairs" officials!!!

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:30 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Not every park has a picnic shelter, which is what I take this to mean.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:30 AM Permalink
Birdie15

I jus think it is weird that the PP site doesn't have it up

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 12:30 AM Permalink
vikesfan18

how do you guys know that is the real clue? the only official one is the one posted on the pioneer press website (which hasn't happened yet). I'm not buying any of this until I see it on pioneerplanet. Anyone else agree?

There is hell to be paid tomorrow for whomever messed up at the PP. Someone is going to get their butt chewed over this one.
