Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.
Clues:
Clue No. 1 (Sunday, Jan. 21)
Welcome ice and snow and temperatures low
There’s no time for cold feet!
For searchers’ pleasure we’ve parked the treasure
Where nature lovers each other greet
Clue No. 2 (Monday, Jan. 22)
Boreas\' vast realm can overwhelm
Even diggers used to the long haul
So here\'s advice to put your hunt on ice:
Look no farther than good old St. Paul
Clue No. 3 (Tuesday, Jan. 23)
Hunters can be surly but in clue-time it’s early
Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel
Near land that is high the treasure is nigh
Vagueness rules and that’s on the level

You know? Can I tell you? Now that there's a new Hunt, I'm actually getting really super giggly and pleased that Jake beat out all those morons. Someone we know, someone we've Hunted with. GREAT JOB, JAKE!
I tear'd up when jake and his mom hugged....
I don't think I could handle the Kirk comments...
woohooo.
Kirk..how about some freezing cold and a boat load of snow!!!!
They didn't have to do that...
I bet that they will really try to push this second hunt to the last clue.
What you wrote...
"I think Jake was really humble about everything. He kept bringing brassmonkey into the picture and making sure his contribution didn't go unnoticed. The Kirk Condie thing was nice, too.. it was nice seeing someone with a really strong sense of the hunt's history and tradition up there talking... although PP might see the the hunt as a failure on account of its length, I hope that they also see it one that rewarded their most dedicated hunter."
I'd encourage you to express those thoughts to the powers that be, at the PP. Just a thought...
Do we get a 2nd Hunt thread then???
"The 2nd hunt thread -2007 *thanks jake*"

1952 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt Redux
Something to the effect "Okay smart guys, it's somewhere in the county, the rest is up to you"
Heh, classy act to setup a 2nd hunt. How'd they talk Soucheray into the lunch thing? Ahhhh... I knew he was the cluewriter. That's his pennance for the first hunt
Unless I can parlay that into lunch with Boxmeyer and Millett...
Gonna read/snooze.
CONGRATS TO JAKE FOR HIS FIND!
TO US FOR OUR SECOND CHANCE!
mcl
Jake and Brass Monkey were so gracious at the press conference.
And to hear the first comments about Kirk Condie just brings tears to my eyes.
Jake, you are so right that Kirk must have had something to do with this. I've got an idea that Kirk orchestrated you two happening to greet one another this morning!
Congratulations Jake - its great to see your hard work and dedication pay off!
Congratulations Brass Monkey - great noodling!
Congrats to Jake
PP is doing a second hunt with $5000 on the line. There will be clues every day in the paper starting with tomorrow's paper (or tonight's, depending on how you look at it.. basically, they aren't missing a beat with the clues). The last day of this hunt is the day the 12th clue of the first hunt would have been released, so it looks like there is a maximum of 9 clues.
by now you know that kiss ass jake found the medallion in the south end of Hidden Falls this afternoon. He deserves it! He is a rock on die hard hunter!!!!
here is a pic from the elevator on his way to the Pioneer Press.
You also have probably heard that the PP is beginning another hunt--- its true! it rocks too! first clue tonight--- 9 clues -- 5 grand
quite a few of us will be out at the pp and then out to a park
Brass Monkey--- you became an icon overnight dude! you're definately one of a kind ---- I'm glad I got to meet you.
Gotta keep records ya know
Heh, what a rollercoaster day, and here I was just getting into post hunt mode.. Maybe I can actually get out to look for the 2nd one.
As far as the PP knowing that Jake had it, Jake called to tell them he had it. There was a writer from the PP who went to Jake's apartment to do an interview with him. I suppose the PP had some idea of Jake's passion for this hunt, and that coupled with the fact Jake knew what it was hidden in and where it was hidden helped them know that he had in fact found it.
someone mentioned the 6 pm thing to us over the phone--- they just wanted to get him to the Press and get the press conference moving because of all the cameras and newstations that needed to be there. Also he wanted to get it in before the deadline of being the person who found it the quickest - something about IN 3 CLUES --- even though someone found it in 2 days but 5 clues? or something like that. So it wasn't to take prize $$ away or anything like that.
see you downtown OR in the parks
heading out soon
Man.. I'm never gonna go through another hunt without transportation, it's awful.
