Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

The discussion about bards...green had a list of them related to Como. She missed Henrik Ibsen.

Cluemaster took a digital photo a couple years back at Phalen - at night - during the mosh pit scenario.

There was a bluish/tealish glint in the snow about where the medallion was found the next morning.

We figure that was the medallion and had ESD add that to the cooler kid picture used for the banner.

Grr baby!

Ended up walking around como lake last night with the Diggin' girls. Brr!

I can't really figure out what's up with any of this stuff and I can't really figure out anything new. I thought I had a good noodle about Dylan Thomas but it didn't go anywhere.

Back to googlin'.

So I have this theory that the clues all point at como, but aren't actually como. Because of the short hunt, it's the cluemaster's revenge, that it looks one way but runs the other. SO the question is, where do all the clues double cover, since the cluemaster is playing one way but going the other?

I think the cluewriter has obviously seen NTFCF. ANd all of the talk about how we all hate como. So based on that, if we heed the siren of our desirin' aren't we hoping that it's not in Como - and is this confirmation?

I found this post on the PP board interesting...

Ok, heres why I think its Phalen. I may not get out again anyway.

Clue 1: channel the bard (Shakespeare) A woodsy retreat: Cottage: Cottage Av.

Clue 2: Phalen is the largest lake in St Paul, flora with growing pain is Ivy: Ivy Av. Winter or summer never a bummer: one of the baseball fields is now an ice rink, plus all the other refernces to baseball.

Clue 3: Round you go if you seek to know(could be Round Lake or "Wheel"lock parkway and heres the clue that just faced me yesterday when I looked up: The sign in front of the Rec Center says:

Volleyball sign ups here Feb 3-5(not sure on the dates, anyway)" Where swatters of orbs are beckoned" Get it?

What if it's taped to a cell phone, or in a cell phone box?

The whole cell phone thing is tossing my noodles.

Doesn't get it for me, Liquor Lady. They're pushing.

Since when, for one thing, as the CW ever used anything in the Clues about a forth coming event?

How does Ivy have growing pains? Not even poison ivy has growing pains. Kids have growing pains.

But growing panes? Can't be anything but the conservatory.

Ittiz that, even more so than wild and tame 'collections' that keeps me in CoNo. Not to mention I don't have to stretch a single Clue.

and to add to that the cell phone and siren from last night..

The old Gillette hospital that is by the rec center.

well when I was thinking about flora with growing pain, I was thinking about rose bushes with thorns... I still really think it's como, in all honesty. The larry ho section in the treasure hunters guide really gets my attention. Especially because in the last clue, they mentioned lark, which is a bird, and according to the guide, there is a bird sanctuary or a rock telling about it or something in that area.

Swatting Orbs could be getting rid of birds. The mascot of the Univeristy of Miami is an Obis. WHat's the plural?? Orbs?

I could like Phalen for two reasons.

1. The clue writers obviously where failing to have a long hunt the first time around, so they'll use Phalen to incorportate that into the final clue.

2. Cruel irony. It's the largest park closest to home for me, that I could walk to, if only I had the time.

think the parallels between como and phalen are many - the meagerie could be the reference to us and the palace would be the ice palace

not many peeps there tho

the masses are yusually right

SO maybe leaving the cell phone at home is talking about Thoreau? Simplifying, giving up technology? Walden was technically a poem...

didn't Jake use a GPS system to find Med? Maybe CW are trying to avoid GPS system/cell phone?

In 1845 Thoreau built himself a small cabin on the shore of Walden Pond, near Concord; there he remained for more than two years, “living deep and sucking out all the marrow of life.” Wishing to lead a life free of materialistic pursuits, he supported himself by growing vegetables and by surveying and doing odd jobs in the nearby village. He devoted most of his time to observing nature, reading, and writing, and he kept a detailed journal of his observations, activities, and thoughts. It was from this journal that he later distilled his masterpiece, Walden.
