Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

As if I was that daring.

Ha.

I dunno though, if I feel up to it, I might drive down with L&A Mommy. Definately tomorrow if tonight's clue is a good 'un.

I drove through Phalen yesterday and didn't get any good vibes there at all

I agree mom, I still have the gut feeling they are using Como as the siren song.

I think everthang *other* than growing panes, don't revolt, and wild and tame menagerie could fit any other park.

But those three cinch it for me being at CoNo.

When we find out where The Med was hidden I'm gonna feel either very, very xcited and rightous; or very, very, very stupid.

I'm going to head out for a a little while now that I've gotten Lisa off to her friends house for a sleep over. I think I'm just going to drive around the parks and scope out local shops, stores, houses that might be being referenced. Doubt I'll dig unless I see something that just has to be dug.

Mom I agree we all tend to over analyze clues its best to Keep it simple. I'll let you all know when I've found it  Ciao...

In my case, it's almost always very, very, very stupid. We HAVE actually been in the right park probably 50% of the time, I think. And looking back, those times when we were there, there wasn't doubt. We *knew* it.

This year I don't have a clue!

We have been very, very, very stupid enough times to know we could be wrong again....

But the menagerie thing doesn't fit, at least in my mind, to any other park but Como.

'mom'

I think that the menagerie clue was the one that screamed out Como for me. BUT, I want to be open to all interpretations/definitions of the word.

It *could* be referencing the zoo and carousel, but on the other hand, it could wind up being in some park that hasn't been alluded to yet (Like Highland?) in a box of animal crackers.
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 2:52 PM Permalink
Terry

I agree with that - except with the reality of the snow depth, a box of animal crackers would be a bit hard to hide.
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 2:54 PM Permalink
OT

I interpret the "growing pain" as Thorn St. that runs along IM. Thorns grow and they're painful if you run into one.
Sat, 01/27/2007 - 2:58 PM Permalink

Oh. Finally hit me how you could get wild AND tame from a box of anjumul crackers!

I've almost given up on Edgcumbe and succumb to Como. I just can't get the last clue to fit Edgcumbe at all.

Me neither - and I thought Edgecumbe would have been a wonderful place for the rehash bash.

I spent 3 hours at Central park today and froze my @ss off....If is there, I have no idea where....

Of course some idiots broke big branches off pine trees there,...I am sure the city loves that....

And I found a dam geo cache box and thought I had found the medallion.....I almost had a heart attack on the spot...boy was I piszed when I opened it and discovered what is was....watch out for that crap

I'm not saying AT ALL that menagerie must equal animal crackers. Just that it doesn't *have* to equal zoo/carousel.

It could be any unusual mix. Heck -- the Cooler Crew is certainly a menagerie!

Just trying to keep from zeroing in too soon on one park.

Welcome to CoNo, Evil. Glad you got in the right park before the Med was found. (Growing panes.)

Mom, I never said or infurred that you said the Med has to be in a box of anjumul crackers.

I just meant it didn't hit me until I read your post that "wild and tame" could equal anjumul crackers. What I said.

I guess I'll have to xplain:

I just figured anjumul crackers were "tame" - non living, inantimate objects. Dull. Not to mention no zing to the flavor.

And they are, BUT they are WILD anjumuls!!!

So they can be wild AND tame at the same time.

I'm almost hoping this next clue sends us to a different park.

With all the clues giving us parts of Como, it's impossible to figure out for sure what part to dig in...and it's such a huge place to be digging randomly.

I went and read the thread, how lame!

I posted the last reply on there:

So you are worried about your kids' virgin ears hearing some drunks yukkin it up?

How about not bringing your kids DOWNTOWN at 11:00 at night????

I still feel that this could be the year that it's outside the city limits. I thought Wakefield had hopes, but didn't *feel* it there.

Haven't been out to Central in Roseville.

Just noticed that the "Softball on Ice" tourney will be at Lake McCarrons. Made me kinda go "Hmmmm".

I don't even think they had any kids with them, the only ones I saw were mine and scribes :eyeroll:

leelabell

Whatever. People like to have things to bitch about.

Regarding noodling: JT doesn't have access here. Scribe is in law school and barely has time to say hi. She comes out at night for a little fun, but we really haven't seen her much (and she is selling buttons). G isn't slogging this year because she has two jobs plus her personal art business. She also comes out at night for a bit, but hasn't hunted. And, she is selling buttons. Me, I'm here periodically. I do much of my noodling verbally at night or in the park. But, I do try to post things here if I find them when I am in front of my computer. Steph just had a baby. And, Otis is working. You do see LL here. Yes, we do have a private thread, but it doesn't get that much activity and we don't noodle there. It is mostly of the, "what time are we meeting tonight?" variety.

Which park do I think it is at? Hmmm. I'm not sure. Part of me wants to follow the KISS principle and believes it is at Como. However, there are really good cases for IM and Phalen. I don't think it is out of town only because the PP published the "out of bounds" map a second time after the second hunt began and it only included the city.

For those of you that go to Maddy Bs in the evening...we talked to one of the owners (Hassan) and asked him to work out a drink special for us! Too expensive!!! SO, starting Sunday (tomorrow) night and through the end of the hunt, AND all of the hunt next year, we will get 2-for-1's on all drinks.

Yippee!!!!

He said that they want us in there. I told him that what he lost in cash he could make up for in volume! tee hee

So hopefully, everyone will be happy...

That's good news.

Also, current thoughts - maybe there is some way to get a revolutionary war poem (revolt) to fit one of the parks:

Star Spangled Banner

Yankee Doodle

Paul Revere (written by Longfellow)

Battle Hymn of the Republic

I did a bit of googling but didn't find anything definitive, but maybe someone else will.

It's just so stupid. People dislike us because we meet on a message board and share potlucks? It's not like were the freemasons. I was welcomed with open arms 5 years ago. Nobody is excluded for any reason, other than they don't ask.

We've first, second, third, and home. We're coving all bases. Going round after swating an orb. Hit a Homer.

Could this have any meaning?

First to last.
