First year it was Joe Medallion. We were a bit leary that he'd show at the first rehash -but thankfully he didn't.

Second year - Wish was creeping us out. He turned out to be a pipsqueak..but still creepy.

Mr. News was just a bother.

Can I ask? What in the world is the folder "Birdwatcher" for and why is puckferrets setting up folders in the hunt thread?

Did you ask him first? I think it would be better if he knew that he can't add folders in there but can add them on the outside somewhere.

As far as I know, anyone can add a discussion to any folder that they have access to.

I am concerned about Nick's posting about having guns drawn on him while out in the park. I think it's causing some fear within people, when I do not think that it's true. I have had someone already egram me about it. I responded to Eags' post about her fears. I want to put this out there though at least, because I do not think it is right.

I think he's full of drama too. How can you see if guns are drawn if you're blinded by the spot light anyway. I'm sure they talked about it over and over to the point that they believed they thought they were drawn upon. I don't see cops doing that given the circumstances anyway.

I agree. There have been a number of hunters who have had decent experiences with the cops. Yeah, they may have been asked to leave, but not having guns drawn. The cops would be aware of the hunters out there by now. I'm fine with Nick making stuff up for some attention, but not when it involves scaring other people.

(Not there yet, just an example) and it would be hosted off of my business website. My traffic is little enough that it's not a big deal to piggyback it at present. Then your posters wouldn't have to pay.

methinks i'll decline on the grounds that the real issue for us is the choice of forum software. and that alwhough we're willing to pony up 10 bucks a head per year, we're not so willing to pony up 35 grand for an unlimited webcrossing license. hell, if we had the license for it, i'd be hosting it. that said, i'm still working on trying to write a clone of it just for the hell of it. always gotta be the software geek dontcha knwo :smile:

I agree. No sense in going in that direction.

This site is stable, responsive to our needs, and that will eat up more than $10 for posting privileges. No one can do that for free for long - and I'm sure he doesn't understand the amount of traffic this site gets year round - much less at hunt time.

my thoughts exactly. i know that i've taken 21k hits for the logo that were referred by this site. don't have statistics as to what time they cluster around, as my stats software doesn't keep tabs on that. but i do know that the actual number of page views from here is probably going to be on the order of one or 2 orders of magnitude greater than that becasue of caching of the image, both at places like aol's caching proxy servers and owr own systems.

ya know, i really am serious about trying to write up a clone of webx. now that i'm a over a quarter of the way to a masters degree i'm thinking about how i could work such a beast into the foundations for phd thesis research...
