MINOR DRAMA...NOT BAD...

BUT FOR THE MOST PART...THE ENTIRE CREW REALIZED THAT DRAMA SUCKS....

Was there a secret potion, fairy dust, or common sense that was passed around at the Pre-Dig Gig?

I think it was a combination. I know there was plenty of secret potions passed around during the entire hunt.:goofy:

I also think that anybody who wanted some drama could easily go over to the PP boards to let loose. Plus I would think most would jump on those starting up shit here. And even the minor drama here was more personal and had nothing to do with the CC as a whole anyway.

I think part of it may have to do with Jake finding it so fast. For one, he's one of us so we were happy for him, and he brought us together a bit. For another, I think with the shorter hunt it hit us even more how short the hunt can be, and that we don't want to spend our hunting time dealing with crap, but we want to enjoy it and be hunting.

I'm not a fan of extra threads either.

I just came in here to mention that I deleted the Current Situation thread that ares, TV & I had access to regarding the old Nick situation. We did that to help clean things up a bit. Adding new threads for things that might generate <100 posts shouldn't be added.

Why don't we create a folder called Dumb Discussions? :wink:

You know, all that could easily happen in the Shoot the Breeze thread. Having different threads for every single possible topic is silly in my opinion and not necessary.

I see that Ian has created a folder here for leelabel. She said it was okay and to leave it.

But should anyone be able to start threads here? With new folks joining us from the hunt this year, that could get to be a bit much. We have way more than enough threads as it is in my opinion.

I think adding any thread should first go through the hosts so we don't get all of these frivolous discussions that will go dead in a week. They can always create discussions outside of the CC if they feel the need.

Is there a way to set the buttons so that no one else can start a folder within the refugee camp?

We'll need to go into every folder and adjust the settings as adjusting the settings on the main one doesn't change the sub-folders. Should I start to do it?

It's at the folder level:

Items allowed in the folder

 Subfolders and folder items may be added

 Subfolders may be added, but they may only contain discussions

No subfolders or folder items may be added

Allow discussions to be added to this folder

  Allow links to be added to this folder

  Allow uploads to this folder by anyone. Normally only hosts and the sysop can upload files to a folder. Checking this box allows any user, even guests, to upload files. Setting this will make the folder visible in the folder listing to anyone, regardless of hidden status or access settings. This setting is typically used to create "write-only" folders to let people to submit private files to your site -- check this box and set the access list so that only hosts can read the uploaded files, and you have a write-only area.

I vote to limit the creation of folders by anyone other than the moderators. There's enough folders here now as it is.

All they have to do is ask one of us. But it keeps silly dumb ass things from being created that only end up being one more place to shoot the breeze.

There can be open discussion if someone thinks a thread should be added. I think it'll save lots of junk threads that go nowhere.

I also saw Marks idea of a folder where folks could create a folder they would like to have approved.

I don't necessarily like being a thread nanny - but too many threads are just too many threads.

yeah i agree. i've got literally hundreds of threads from pf (manyh of which i still have to sort out and figure out where they went). i think the idea of having a specific place for folks to create and/or suggest new threads is a good one.

We definitely love our Cooler Chicks.

I still haven't restricted discussion additions in the Look and Test folder in case anyone wanted to play around in there or ask for one to be approved.

They can use the Test folder now if they'd like. It's still open to add discussions.

Does anybody object to cleaning up the hunt folder? Or is it too early?

Maybe wait until the Rehash bash? We'll have people probably clear out after that, so may be a bit less confusing to them.
