Barefootguy's Hunt for the Golden Egg

Submitted by Clue Master on
Clue 1:
Hey treasure hunter, don't be a punter!
Stay in the eye of the pig
Search high, search low, but make sure as you go
Destroy nothing while you dig

The puck has been concealed, so here's the deal:
The treasure is not all that I've hid
Three eggs of blue shall give you a clue-
Old hiding places do bid

Clue 2:
You could have a lot of fun
Noodling clues and channeling bards.
Have a seat and something to eat,
Riches for you could be in the cards

Clue 3:
Con artist I am not
Nor will I guide you to the spot
Ma always said to bring plenty of kiwi,
Cloud 9 awaits at a former Mounds spot.

Clue 4:
Have yourself a splashingly good time
Find a place for the kiddies to play.
As you look around in the park you have found
Where a city ends is where you should stay

Clue #5
Numbers, numbers. Numbers galore!
Sit on 16, 18 by 24
12 and 13 can help you a ton;
But 13 is helpful in more ways than one

Clue 5 1/2:
Across from Obbs is the place to be,
Go to the bluff top where the path makes a "T"
Down the left path between 70 and 100 paces,
Look to your left and you're off to the races.

Clue 6:
Go you and forage, don't get discouraged
As you hunt and search and comb
Get your melon to a former HF dwellin'
Take your big car to a former national home

Clue 7:
Go to the brink, don't stop and think,
As your quest begins to wane.
Walk, don't run, as you're having all this fun,
Take a jaunt down lucky lane

Clue 8:
As this hunt nears its final bout, you might be getting worn out.
I'd help you if I could
If you don't want to miss, just remember this:
An ocean wouldn't help you, but a...

Clue 9:
As you grow hunt-weary, stand up proud! don't beg
The final clue awaits you, hidden in an egg
Get downtown now, I know this won't bring me many cheers;
The clue can be thine if you look inside a historical sign
In the eastern corner of the park known as Mear

Clue 1:

Hey treasure hunter, don't be a punter!

Stay in the eye of the pig

Search high, search low, but make sure as you go

Destroy nothing while you dig

The puck has been concealed, so here's the deal:

The treasure is not all that I've hid

Three eggs of blue shall give you a clue-

Old hiding places do bid

Search High, search low - on the ground at Highland. so here's the deal - Dealton St. runs into Highland, if you look at a map and extend it through the park it goes right throught the medallion site.

Clue 2:

You could have a lot of fun

Noodling clues and channeling bards.

Have a seat and something to eat,

Riches for you could be in the cards

channeling bards - stream running through the woods where treasure was hidden. Have a seat and something to eat - nearby picnic shelters, also bench for frisbee golf. In the cards - another Dealton refrence.

Clue 3:

Con artist I am not

Nor will I guide you to the spot

Ma always said to bring plenty of kiwi,

Cloud 9 awaits at a former Mounds spot

Plenty of Kiwi - I didn't actually expect anyone to get this, this was the wikipedia refrence in the egg clue. If you wikipedia plenty new zealand, you get the page for the bay of plenty region, where the main town is Edgecumbe. Take the first word of each line and you get "Con Nor Ma Cloud". Connor McCleod was the main character in the Highlander movies.

Wow I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open, I think I'm gonna have to do the rest of the explanations tomorrow.

I think its so ironic that the Connor McCleod could be

Con - way

Nor -thdale

Ma - rydale

great clue

your probably tired from all that smoke from the bonfire

Yup- kitch-

the guy has to stop betting people

he owes both Becks and I dinner too

and me a drink on top of all that - just from this hunt alone---hmmmmm, I think I;ll have to hunt with him more often to win bets

I was way off on the beachwood clue -

I was also thinking volkswagon beatle = a Beatle = Ringo - Rings at Como and the pool at Como too

but as we know for every hunt--- we can make EVERY clue reference something in Como Park. :eyeroll: - but as you pointed out last night.... if becks and I woulda found the egg in Highland last Saturday then we never woulda found the kitty in Como.

It was a good hunt to learn other ideas and options for the clues --- good ideas brought out for Highland forsure --- and I now want to go hang out on the beach on the Mississippi River in Hidden Falls!!!

Clue 4:

Have yourself a splashingly good time

Find a place for the kiddies to play.

As you look around in the park you have found

Where a city ends is where you should stay

"Splashingly good time" and "place for the kiddies to play" are references to the pools at Highland Park. "A City Ends" is a double clue, as Highland is near the southern tip of the city and "A City Ends" is also an anagram for Syndicate. Syndicate St. runs into Highland just East of the medallion site.

Clue 5:

Numbers, numbers. Numbers galore!

Sit on 16, 18 by 24

12 and 13 can help you a ton;

But 13 is helpful in more ways than one

Sit on 16 refers to the wooden bench made up of 16 blocks outside the woods where the medallion was hidden. 18 by 24 refers to the nearby disc golf basket, 24 chains of 18 links each. 12 and 13 refer to house numbers, if you add up the address numbers on the house directly across Beechwood from the medallion site, you get 12 and 13. "13 is helpful in more ways than one" refers to the fact that the medallion was hidden at Highland 13 years ago in 1994.

Clue 6:

Go you and forage, don't get discouraged

As you hunt and search and comb

Get your melon to a former HF dwellin'

Take your big car to a former national home

Big car = Hummer = Otto Hummer Dr. "A former national home" - the washington nationals used to be the montreal expos. Montreal Ave and Otto Hummer Dr are right there in the park.

Clue 7:

Go to the brink, don't stop and think,

As your quest begins to wane.

Walk, don't run, as you're having all this fun,

Take a jaunt down lucky lane

"Go to the brink" - another way of saying this would be "Come to the Edge" = Edgecumbe. Lucky Lane = W 7th St.

Clue 8:

As this hunt nears its final bout, you might be getting worn out.

I'd help you if I could

If you don't want to miss, just remember this:

An ocean wouldn't help you, but a...

"Worn out" - Either Drained or Tired. There is a tire and drain pipe in the woods near where the medallion was hidden. "An Ocean wouldn't help you, but a..." Beach would. (Beechwood)

Clue 9:

As you grow hunt-weary, stand up proud! don't beg

The final clue awaits you, hidden in an egg

Get downtown now, I know this won't bring me many cheers;

The clue can be thine if you look inside a historical sign

In the eastern corner of the park known as Mears.

This clue leads to a blue egg inside a sign in Mears Park. The egg contains directions to the treasure in Highland.

Easter Egg clue 1 (found near 2005 Mounds site by Becksie):

DonÂ’t be a lagginÂ’, think of a folksy wagon

If you want to bring the game to an end

When you donÂ’t know what to do as youÂ’re pondering my clues

Remember, Wikipedia is your friend

The folksy wagon is a Volkswagon Golf. Highland has a golf course. "If you want to bring the game to an end"- The 18th hole is right across the street from the hiding spot.

Easter Egg clue 2 (Not found, hidden near 2007 hidden falls site):

Hey Julius, you're such a square!

Clue 3:

1-7, 2-20, 2-6, 2-23, 4-11, 2-5, 3-2, 1-4, 3-11, 2-9, 1-13, 2-3, 2-22, 2-20, 2-12, 3-26.

Explanation on hold for a while as a few people said that they wanted to try and figure this one out.

Easter Egg Clue 3 (Hidden inside a sign at Mears, found by Jake, Me2, and Becksie):

This land is your land, this land is my land

This land is your land, get your butt to Highland!

A woodsy ravine awaits between Edgecumbe, Hamline, and Beechwood,

10 paces west of the tire in a hollow log, look there; I would.

Gives the exact location of the medallion in a woodsy area at Highland.

That's funny, when I met him and Becksie at Highland after they found it, I asked them who was going to to do the next hunt, and Jake volunteered.
