Look at that low pressure system more through, weird.

Temp keeps bumping up over the last few hours I've seen it go from 80 up to 90. And humid too... So when is this storm gonna hit?

We are under a tornado watch until 10pm for Ramsey, Washington and Anoka counties.

KC0GRN

Yeah.. What gets me is the heat and humidity. Usually that makes for a big storm later.

I'm using the larger version of this sundial shadow shot of 225 on the dome as my work desktop right now. It's kinda cool how the shadow moves across the city skyline during 1/2 of the year.

I used to work in that building in the lower righthand corner. Back when it was the Lutheran Brotherhood.. I think they switched to Trivent now.

Sad memories there. Had I taken a 2nd shift job they were offering, I might still be with that company, and I might have survived the aftermath of y2k on IT jobs...

Speaking of working downtown. Does anyone know Jake's new work e-mail address? I wanna hook up with him for lunch some day.

yup, my car is fine - my neighborhood was not hit with any hail and my car was in the garage anyway. one of my friends just got her car back after getting the last hail storm's damage fixed, and now she's got a dented hood again. we had tornado warnings here, which is very unusual, but nothing was ever confirmed - they saw some rotation on Doppler.

Pretty amazing Eags. Also weird that you got nailed the same time as the cities.

I do have to say that it was hard watching your news though.

Your anchors and reporters seem to talk a bit slow compared to ours for some reason.

Iceman,

I enjoy hearing different accents from different parts of the country. We have our own accent here. We just don't hear it in ourselves.

Now for something on a more serious note...I hope you understand this. Some of us have had our lives turned upside down when loved ones have committed suicide. I take suicide threats seriously. The last time you mentioned wanting to kill yourself and I commented on how to get help, you said it wasn't like that and you were being a drama queen. Perhaps you don't understand what those comments do to others.

One of my sisters is bi-polar and is finally feeling good about herself after spending many years in a deep, dark hole. She stopped drinking and got the right combination of prescription medicine and it's made all the difference. She used to regularly threaten suicide and we always took it seriously.

My brother-in-law, who we never suspected of being depressed, blew his brains out at the age of 31. We still miss him terribly.

Three months later, a very dear friend also committed suicide after a few previous attempts when the authorities were called to get him help.

I am going to ask you to make a big effort here to not talk about killing yourself or having others shoot you. I suspect that it's gotten to be a form of speech for you in a way. It simply rubs salt into old wounds that may never completely heal.

I think I've learned enough about you to know that you would never knowingly do something to hurt others.

I am vary SORRY I know i have lost friends to bipolar and I am just haveig a hard time right now and yes you are right it s become a way of my speech! I will try to refran from letting stuff like that out any more sometimes when I am lo I just dont think when I type or talk for that matter and some times I catch it but alot of times I just dont I dont let any one know because of the other stuff in here going on I just lost a close friend the same day as brads wife and I lost a aunt that I was close to 4 days later! and I just keep getting hit with alot of stuff lately and just cant pull out of it and this borad is the only thing keeping me sane right NOW!

Agin I am sorry and I will try to refran from that kind of speeking!

I am not one to get depressed like you do, but having a sister with bi-polar disease, I've learned much of what that is to live with. I'm truly sorry that you are afflicted with that.

I don't want to discourage you from sharing your feelings or getting help when you need it. I hope you understand that.

On the other hand, using suicide as a form of speech to indicate dislike of something or when you're really not in a crisis is bothersome.

I hope you understand why I felt a need to say something.

On the accent thing...

As Midwesterners, we are the closest to not having an accent. Look at how our words are pronounced compared to a standard dictionary pronunciation table. (I learned this when I came home on leave after living with South Carolinians, was in the paper.)

But, we still have our cultural dialects that differ us from say, someone from Wisconsin, or someone from Nebraska - so not all Midwestern accents are the same.

Here is a quiz I found while trying to find the article I saw (or something like it)

What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)

Northern

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.
