Does anybody have any thoughts on moving the 2008 hunt thread up a level like RR requested? I think it's fine right where it is. If he's bothered by one more click because he doesn't want to subscribe to the discussion, it's kinda his problem isn't it?

That's my take on it CM. Someone suggested he just put a shortcut to the link on his computer and use that to get directly in there.

He posts in other threads so I don't get his issue.

Does he know he can subscribe?

Hey ares - where is the update you made to the CC site? I can't find it.

It's probably for the best we're leaving McGovern's. I was thinking a couple weeks ago that DDY would be ordering his usual hot turkey sandwich and as much cranberry sauce they would bring him...then I remembered.

I have done that sort of thing so many times since he died.

Two years ago, an up north neighbor (the Woodsman) who used to come down to hunt with us every year died in the middle of the summer. Often he and DDY would end up here in the middle of the night for donuts and coffee or Coke or something. I miss that too.

Every year something changes.

But one just needs to keep moving forward and finding new traditions.

Ares, I got the call from your wife about my impostor. I'm going to IM Jake from here and tell him that it's not me. I'm glad you guys can tell it's not me. If I wanted this to go on, I'd have all sorts of opportunities to do it here. I could try to ruin his current relationship if I wanted to, but I have left him alone as long as he has left me alone. Coco and I have moved on, and it seems like having Caroline has helped him move on. But apparently not totally.

I'm not 100 percent sure what is going on anymore..

but talking to iceman last nite he said that he hasn't spoke with nick in about a month...

said he was worried about nick...saying that caroline has been out of work...and he even thinks that nick hasn't had internet access...

I think he would do it, but I'm not totally positive it's him though. My only other thoughts are Shaggy or Monkey. I know Iceman is friends with him, but you can tell it's not him because the posts are actually coherent. :wink: I don't want to get into it too much here though, because it's outside of this place. I can address it on the boards, and I'm going to try to ignore it as best I can. Although who knows what will happen this year if we're down in the cities at any of the hunting events, because the restraining order is no longer in effect.

I hope he is still with caroline...

It seems like it could be, but I don't remember them trying to impersonate people other than someone in their group. Why would they bring this thing up every so often for eight months? I don't think it would be Jake, otherwise he's basically telling himself off to get at me. I don't know, maybe he has some real dislike for me to the point where he wants to bring this up out of the blue to sound off on me. Although who knows, he seems to have a pretty strong opinion about me. I really don't agree with his opinion and take some offense to it, but I'll try to deal with him privately on that.

he seems to have something against women too as if they don't have free will, and then there's his whole "pipe down woman" comment. he ignorantly implies it was jason's manipulation and not elissa's own decision (who incidentally is a highly smart and educated woman with a masters degree...last time i checked jake's only claim to fame is that he found the medallion, no nobel prize or anything).

oh and kid, i've got a steel toed boot i can let you borrow to deal with him privately :smile:

Jake probably has a different view of women than I do, but that's okay. I just feel he's misinformed about what all happened, and I would like to give him the facts of what happened and see if that changes his mind. I hope that I am able to change his mind about his thought that after what I did to Nick, I deserve anything. I don't think that what happened to her and I is justified by me supposedly flirting with Coco (which didn't happen, in my mind).

Why do you feel the need to even bother? It's all good. We know you're good people. I feel bad that you feel the need to defend yourself to people that don't really even have a reason to be involved in the first place. Good luck with changing anyone's mind at this late stage.

At first glance, I felt it was Steve F-ing with Nick. Nothing to really back it up though.

Part of it is that things feel uncomfortable enough as it is now at events, and if I can change Jake's understanding of it I feel that it would make things less uncomfortable. Part of it too is this thought that he's been misled by Nick. It bugs me somewhat that Nick can write stuff on his myspace about me and it can be all lies, but I can't see what it is to defend myself. I don't let it get to me too much though.

I see your point with Jake tho. He can be opinionated and if you can help move some of that opinion, it can't hurt.

Kids - You might be able to change Jake's mind - or not. I know the whole situation can be uncomfortable - and defending yourself to Jake might work.

But if it doesn't work, I hope you can find some semblance of comfort with us.

I'm comfortable with you guys, don't worry. It's just not like it used to be. It really just depends on the setting and who is there.

This hunt will be different, being away from the cities like this. But I am very happy with my wife and our life that we have made for ourselves.

That's why I'm trying to deal with this quietly and privately with Jake. You guys have had to deal with this crap enough, and I don't like what it did to the group before. The hunt is supposed to be fun, so let's enjoy it. Besides, with the loved ones that we have lost and almost lost this year, there is much more important stuff to be concerned with and focus on.
