And you can't have a chase on the lake w/o water! The races are held on the lake. Lake=water.

they lock the gates... every night of every year... woouldn't it be obvious if all of a sudden they didn't lock the gates anymore... besides they have no idea if the medallion is there they don't tell the police where it is

locked gates are nothing to worry about, i was at hidden falls and the guard there kicked us out at ten saying he would have been informed if it were there. so i wouldn't worry about gates being locked at this time

But that's not the kind of traditional water clue I was referring to.

I don't think it has been found on a beach, but there's no reason it couldn't be.

Who says the Clue Writer has to be "traditional." And I know of no other park #2 fits as well. Or any other park that has races in it.

Hi Rob, no just the same. A few people in denial about Newell (corner of Fairview and Pierce Butler, just south of Midway stadium)

Bonjorno coolerheads.

The Bandit is leaning towards Newell. Green, you still set on your 'secret park?'

Does anybody think that it could be on the Highland Park tennis courts??

the pace/track hint in clue 2 made me think of highland and the track near the school...

About clue 6: Can you see the train tracks from the park, or even a passing train? Maybe the medallion's on the passing Am(trak)"red-(eye)" to Chicago?

Sat, 01/29/2000 - 11:29 AM Permalink
diggorius rex

and then again in clue 6... track attack=highlanders? reaching?

Hey just think about this though for a sec. If it was at a big park dont you think they would have said the name already, i mean so far they nailed the streets down for newell, one problem though what the hell is it hidden in? I mean it could be newspaper with the "Read this well" clue. And damnit for the last time clue 2 has nothing to do with races

Denial City here! That's me!

Two! Hay! I'm still in Phalen!

You can see an old train bed from Phalen.

Just got back from Newell, maybe 200 people are there. I have to say, I'm not 100% convinced (this may mean I'm in 'denial') but MOST of the clues seem to fit. Nobody seems to have any idea where in the park to dig, hopefully tonight's clue helps...

I'm going to fill yall in on a little secret!

They drop the MEDALLION on one of the last two days!

Last year at conway, the area in which aaron(inside job)neirdork found it, it had been torn upside down about 30 times!

I am sure the jackasses drop it the lsat day!

They want to sell papers and they want to get people invloved in the CARNIVAL!

I just hope no one has a heart attack diggin for the damn thing!!

Do they use the same medallion every year? If so, can anyone tell me the relative size of this thing? Is the diameter that of a poker chip, hockey puck, or a dinner plate?

also if there is any truth to astute actually being statue... i know there is a statue in phalen other then the ice castle one... but for the life of me cant remember who it is... i walked around that lake everyday when i pregnant with my first son... can see it clear as day

The simple explanation: for Newell Park

Clue #1- In a St. Paul park, not on a golf course.

Clue #2- Still not 100% sure myself. Might just mean the park has tennis courts.

Clue #3- There are a couple of towers visible from the park (attempt to be sneaky coming up) Look for the MEDALLION in Boreas' direction (north by my interpretation).

Clue #4- The park has multiple picnic shelters

Clue #5- The park is near the State Fair

Clue #6- The park is near train tracks

Clue #7- The park lies between Fairview (pleasant scene) and Wheeler (a turning machine).

and then again in clue 6... track attack=highlanders? reaching?

The medallion is the size of an oreo cookie. That is what it was hidden in when it was at Phalen last.

Sat, 01/29/2000 - 11:34 AM Permalink

A little smaller than a hockey puck and thinner!!

I have to say ittiz in Newell. Too much typing and not enough digging. I am out of here.

was at urban (re) newell earlier this morning, and yesterday. is it possible the turning machine could be the on the play ground near the spinning (turning) wheel, the kids play on?

Why are you making these clues SO hard?

Sat, 01/29/2000 - 11:40 AM Permalink
Werentany

for 1 refuse to believe its at newell... have to go with my gut here... it would just be to easy with these clues if it were there... only other place i dont think it is for obvious reasons is mounds... it will never be there again

You guys make the clues harder than they need to be. Go and look at past years clues..... they arent so unbelievably complex. Today's clue points so much towards newell. I would be really shocked if it was anywhere but newell.

Trivia Boy

Doubts about Newell:

Clue #2: setting your pace? astute/statue?

Clue #3: has it been ruled out that King Boreas' direction means toward downtown St. Paul? If so, are there towers visible when looking toward downtown St. Paul from Newell?

Clue #4: "cooking." Sure there are BBQ grills at Newell, but they are at many parks

Clue #5: opposites attract. I haven't heard any discussion about magnet schools lately, has this theory been dropped? There is no magnet school by Newell, or is there?

I guess it just seems like many of the clues could apply to just about any park, and therefore how can we be justified in being certain it's Newell?

Sat, 01/29/2000 - 11:45 AM Permalink
the two faced bandit

Hancock magnet school is very close to Newell

Sat, 01/29/2000 - 11:47 AM Permalink

ok remember last year when they got us to newell until the last few clues. But now in one of the clues it says well-trained, This word with the - in it is not in the dictionary. And then it says stay on the attack, so this time stay with newell
