on the arlington side... just of the walking path there is a statue ... i walked around that lake every day i pregnant... i remember seeing a statue... is my memory getting that bad?
ive been wondering about the wells myself... my inlaws arent home and i know they know about the wells... when i reach them i will post what i learn from them
My dogs were definitely more interested in Newell than Phalen, so I am going to take them over there to sniff it out. I hope nobody throws them on the fire (they can be yappy and annoying)
your right robnat... it quite possible astute doesnt mean statue at all... was just thinking if it did mean statue. everyone was leaning towards the ice castle at phalen i was just wondering about the statue i thought i remembered there...lol
Clue #5 "Opposites Attract" that seems to have some puzzled, could it mean the opposites new and old, NEWell park and the old tradition of the medallion hunt/Winter Carnival?
Something is telling me that everyone who disagrees with newell, was an ex-newell fan last year. clue 1- St. Paul stay off of G.C.; last letter of first line, obsession and medallion, both ending in "N" clue 2- tennis; last word of first line ace, ending in "E" clue 3- Look north and you'll see the towers; first line ending "W" clue 4- picnic shelters and BBQ's; "serve" and "Cooking" possibly meaning BUTLERthe word well going together with the NEW from the end of the clues making NEW WELL clue 5- the streets surrounding the tennis courts are Clayland and Fairview-N+S, and Hewitt North and Hewitt South same name opposite directions, Cloudy and Foul= Fairgrounds. clue 6- hawkeye PIERCE as in Pierce and clue 4 Butler the Northern street. clue 7- Fairview, Wheeler, and Taylor streets, and inbetween them is NEWELL
still swear there's a statue on the arlington side... as your walking around the lake on you go down the little hill i swear there it is... i could be wrong havent been there for so long... hubbys out there right now though scoping it out... we have decided that it wont be in any part of the park that would be gated off after dark... do u agree robnat?
biggest problem with newell to me is so many clues putting u at newell so quickly in the hunt... will give anyone credit if they stay with newell and it truns up there... i for one wont be there tell the lastg clue saying newell and where it is... which of course will be to late then...lol
Rob's Way: Agree between Fairview and Wheeler (the entire park) - How about this? Also between the courts (tennis) and Taylor (tailor= right measure) for north-south parameters.
One half of this hunting team has left for Newell. I'll be headed there in a little bit.
I find it hard to figure out why anyone wouldn't think it was Newell...but then we don't all think alike.
There is lots of areas of Newell that were untouched last night. Walked over but not dug. I suspect that more digging will be done today and won't be as easy to see what's been dug and what hasn't.
My theory on why it has been easier to figure out Newell this year is because we're more familiar with the park after last year and when it was last hidden there in 1984. The 954 clue last year at Conway would only be somewhat obvious to anyone familiar with that park as the medallion had never been hidden there - thus making it harder to figure that out as early.
Live report from the field--Newell park has over 200 diggers currently. Some are fixated on Tennis Court that is a seperate part of the park on the west side. That team will have it excavted in less than an hour from now. Many people digging below the two outdoor picnic shelters. They too will finish today. Most people are between Pierce Butler Route and the basketball courts on North side. Best view of any northen towers. except for a gap where the train yards are, about mid park, no towers are visible from trees. Significan nortern towers veiwable from any spot--Ag hort building, Space needle, Sate fair water tower--all at state fair--and on U of MN campus--two water towers, a smokestack, and the college of Biological science building... hope this helps!
Hello, >Palace rec. center fits todays clue nicely. View st. borders the east side of the park, from there You can view Pleasant Ice Arena up on the Crocus Hill. Also looking east to St.Paul ( king Boreas Direction) There is two playground towers next to each other and one tower by itself. I Know, I Know, Alot of parks seem to fit these clues in one way or another. Thats Why we are here helping each other for ideas.
To those who believe the medallion may be in the trash: I just walked the dog over at Newell, and I can assure you that the little white plastic bag in the trash container does not contain a blue medallion.
note number two regarding newell--snow depth not very deep, except for areas that abut the various roadways--whatever its hidden in, provided it's at newell, is not big, or it would stick above snow! Previous suggestions such as a newspaper do not seem to make sense. Use a GARDEN rake--some snow is packed from all the people walking on it now. Helps make big chunks of hard snow into little chunks of hard snow! Take it easy on the grass though.
would be interested in hearing about other parks... only parks ive ruled out r mounds, rice, harriet... any other parks that match the clues? i know newell but just cant believe at this point any information would be appreciated
aaahhh fixed
im gone folks take care
2face
Could it be that from where the medallion is hidden 'a tower OR TWO comes into view' depending on one's height?
todays clue Pleasent Scene=Fairview st. and turning machine=wheeler st
So who's going out to Newell now?
know phalen like the back of my hand?
So who's going out to Newell now?
There are a couple hundred poeple there now.
robnat... what is the statue at phalen... do u know who it is?
I'm too lazy to dig until I know where it is. Currently it is narrowed down to about 1/4 of the park.
Im going to Newell because it is there
they dont have any statues at phalen
would like to know where the wells, are or were, because that was before my time
on the arlington side... just of the walking path there is a statue ... i walked around that lake every day i pregnant... i remember seeing a statue... is my memory getting that bad?
Diggin' Queen - you out there?
any people talking anymore
statue may not mean what you think it does?
ive been wondering about the wells myself... my inlaws arent home and i know they know about the wells... when i reach them i will post what i learn from them

the ice castle is the closest thing to statue, but think of what else could be a statue
The simple explanation: Newell Park
Clue #1- In a St. Paul park, not on a golf course.
Clue #2- You have to pace off from something to get the medallion or it Might just mean the park has tennis courts.
Clue #3- There are a couple of towers visible from the park Look for the MEDALLION in Boreas' direction (north by my interpretation).
Clue #4- The park has multiple picnic shelters
Clue #5- The park is near the State Fair
Clue #6- The park is near train tracks
Clue #7- The park lies between Fairview (pleasant scene) and Wheeler (a turning machine).
was at newell today
Clue #5 "Opposites Attract" that seems to have some puzzled, could it mean the opposites new and old, NEWell park and the old tradition of the medallion hunt/Winter Carnival?

E-MAIL ME Blue11iz@aol.com and ill let you know, what i think if you let me know what all your thinking
live 1 block from phalen, and im there all the time in the summer

ours is werentany@aol.com... we havent decided it is for sure pahlen but there is alot pointing u there... definately enough to keep u looking there
human i was thinking that too, i mean just think about this, lets say it was in phalen, THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY NAMED THE PARK BY NOW!!!!
I think it is in a smaller park
Newell is pretty full of people right now.
has anyone thought about harriet island. looking at the discription in the yellow pages of the island, the clues fit!!!! (just a thought)
It's not newell or phalen
harriet is all tore up and under construction
if u disregard the part of phalen blocked off by the gate... it makes phalen much smaller of an area to search... therefore not neccesary to name yet.
no phalen and newell don't fit at all or feel right.
Kiwi then where do you think its at and why?
Good Afternoon!

I think its in a place you all already disregarded and all the clues make complete sense and fit perfectly in the easiest way. But, I could be wrong
I would love to hear how the clues fit perfectly with another park.
