I got here following the link from Laura Billings' column...
How close was *I*????
Well, for the first six days I was RITE ON TOP O'THAT PUPPY, at Phalen, and then some RAPSCALLION moved the silly thing to Newell. Way *I* figure it, I was yust way too ASTUTE, ACING the clues like I did, and because I had a WELL-TRAINED EYE it caused an IMPROPER SORT O'REBELLION when the CAREFUL INSPECTION I was conducting did COME INTO VIEW.
Oh, they READ THIS WELL, got COOKING and moved THE LOOT!!! It was not a PLEASANT SCENE and I'm sure the words were FOUL since I was on THE RIGHT TRACK.
I was an OBSTACLE that did OTHERWISE MYSTIFY and they had to find RELIEF SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN. Oh, yes! They were A BIT DOWNCAST.
KING BOREAS, ON THE ATTACK, DID EXTRACT from Phalen my JEWEL.
Henceforth I'll bee A GOOD HUNTER. I've learned my LESSON, and it I will APPLY. Gods know I don't want to COURT disaster and I again WON'T GO ASTRAY.
Uuuuhhhhmmmm....Regis? Can I do the 50-50???????????????
green, you have been, and continue to be, one of the most entertaining "Posters" on this here board.
Maybee we oughtta hold a post-hunt poll/contest to determine who was most entertaining/most helpful/....whatever! If we feel ambitious enough, we could even have different categories. I dunno, just a thought as I sit here and try to rid myself of the post-hunt blues...
hello cooler...i thought i would just let you know how close i was.. ....i was at newell tuesday nite scouting it out. there was no one there.. i started diggin at newell thursday nite then most of the day friday. i concentrated my search in the north east end of the park by the volleyball/basketball court, next to a picnic table and grill. on sat. we continued around that same area all morning...after a breif warmup and rehash at home...i returned to find that the meadallion had been found! the hunt is always so much fun..decoding the clues...and being so close...and chatting with you all on the cooler. am already excited for next year.....happy 2000 bye, hide-n-seek
Congrats to all in the cooler crew. I think we did a great job of noodleing the clues where it was, where it could be, and what wasn't in the clues. I don't think i'll make the rehash this year.. with 2 young ones it is hard to find the time...
Hope to see you all at PHALEN PARK, or Linwood or West Park or.....next year
Remember there is a treasure hunt in White Bear Lake in a couple of weeks. I will post more info here when i find out more.
I have to agree with everyone. We did a better job at solving the clues than ever before. As a matter of fact, I thought our explanations were better than the writers of the clues. At least our's made more sense. Also, why did they continue to reiterate the same thing "Pierce" and "Butler". Usually they add new items with each clue instead of dwelling on the same info. Oh, well. I said this on Saturday night, but I think a lot of you were at Newell for the bonfire. I live to far south to gather everyone up quickly and head out after just leaving there. Anyway, what I said was that I believe we are getting so much better at figuring things out than before. I also believe there are a lot of people who log on to the cooler and do not participate but read our noodling. That's their choice but I feel a little cheated out of something, especially since it's over. In a way, I wish they would have held on to it for a day. I barely got started digging (1 day - hubby 2 days) and the fun was over. Even my kids were complaining about it being found so soon. I laughed on Sunday when Channel 9 kept on referring to finding the Medallion Hunters on Monday AM news. Guess even the news people weren't counting on the thing being found so soon. I also wish PP would have considered hiding it again just for those of us "who actually have a registered button" for the extra $5,000 that wasn't awarded. I'm sorry, I'm rattling on.
Good evening all - almost didn't know what to do with myself all day without going out to dig in the snow!
I'm just waiting for Dad to come home so that I can run out and get my hair trimmed before I start back to work. I actually put off going back sooner, so that I'd be around for the hunt - too bad it had to end so quickly.
BockFest 2000 will be held on Saturday, March 4th this year.
The activities will begin at 11:00 with the gates opening at 10:45.
and ending at 4:30.
There will the Great Bock Medallion Hunt, with clues released at 11:00. The Museum of Brewing will be open along with the Gift shop. We have several bonfires to keep you warm, (dress warmly as all activites are outside!!), along with wonderful hearty food and beverages, and our own BOCK FEST BOYS playing for your musical entertainment. Tours will be offered, but only on a limited basis---First come, first served!! We do try to accomidate as many people as we can. Admission cost of the event is $5.00, with children 12 and under free.
I wonder why so late with the Schell's Bock Hunt this year? Usually ittiz the weekend o'my burfday! :>
Ian, if you read this... Would you bee a dear and e-mail me the info on Newell sos I can call? Tho... I guess I could slog... (shudder).
Any word on Fitger's Bock Hunt?
And, yes. I'm still in a pretty gnarly mood over The Med being found so soon.
Can I tell you? Because I felt so sorry for myself - you guys, too, of course! - I went out yesterday and got me some plants for my newly set up 40 gal aquarium, five dwarf gouramis (three Dwarf Gouramis, two Fire Something Dwarf Gouramis - the latter to go with the singleton in my 20 gal), and the CUTEST, TEENY-EST Ancistru timenki Pleco! Less than an inch and prolly only about 5-6 weeks old. You can still see where his yolk sac was!
Didn't take a nap yesterday, hoping to get bock on my regular schedule. HA! Got a second wind when it was time to go out Hunting!!! Was up 'til like 2:00 a.m.! Today was not one o'those gung-ho days at work, ifyaknowwhaddamean... What sleep I did get, dreamed about HUNTING!!!
AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!
Ya got me in stitches, here, Guide... Keep it up... "Pow, Alice! TO THE MOON!"
I have an invitation to the medallion finder for the rehash bash on Sunday.
Any word about a parade on Saturday night so we can give it to him?
I am looking forward to the Fitger's Bock Hunt. I just don't think we can do both so close together. It would have been a different story if we were now $10,000 richer.
Ter/All... I've heard nothing from MomPlanet about us being in the Torchlight Parade...
Am going the thru the usual bureaucratic fecal matter in trying to get Newell set up fur Sunday. (sigh) FEAR NOT, tho! The fat lady ain't sung yet and you guys know I DON'T give up and admit defeat easily! :>
(straightening black blind-fold) "Ah, Mystery Guest, are you employed by Knight-Ridder, or an independent, clueless firm?"
Green/Terry: Let us know what the rental rate is (if any) and maybe we can share the cost if it isn't too great of a price. It sounds like we might have warm weather for the event. I sure hope the family and I can make it this year. Missed out of the last two years because of other committments. Thanks for working on the arrangements for a party for all us hunters to get together. I've enjoyed chating with everyone here every year and it would be nice to finally meet face-to-face.
Say, I wanna go to the Schell's Bock Hunt this year. Who else is planning on going? Is anyone car-poolin'? Let me know if you are. If I couldn't re-claim my medallion this year the least I can do is go and find a bock or two, . . . or at least drink some good beer!
Hi folks, has someone already posted info about the other hunts you're mentioning? Electric Duane and I would like to find out more, please. We'll try to make it to the bash on Sunday. Hope to see you all there.
Hey folkscan you get me more info on the bock hunt and this other one coming up that I read about earlier this week on the board. I would like to check them out!

Fitger's Bock Fest March 16 - 18, 2000
The Bock Hunt is on the Saturday...I believe starting at 9:30am.
The rehash bash is just a couple days away! Can't wait to meet some new folks and visit with some fellow hunters over what promises to be a most delightful dinner.
It looks like I'm not going to be able to make it to Newell on Sunday. I'm still trying to rearrange my schedule, but at this point, things don't look good. If someone could take some pictures of the bash, I'd be happy to post them on my web site. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures from the hunt this year. The whole thing just ended to early.
For those of you who are having trouble getting the time off or whatever....KEEP TRYING! This is the 3rd annual rehash bash and the first two were a hoot! Great fun and great company.
For those of you who can make it, the festivities begin about 11 or 11:30 at Newell. Bring your own beverages, meat for the grill and a dish to share. Usually someone brings a bunch of paper or disposable plastic plates, but no one has volunteered yet for that yet. You might want to bring something like plates and silverware for yourselves. Someone is bringing 100 styrofoam cups and sloppy joe medallions. I'm bringing something PIERCEing. Lawn chairs are optional but might be a good idea too.
Can't wait to meet you all and/or renew old friendships. See you Sunday!
The shelter izz $120/first three hours; $28/hour after that. Plus $100 damage/clean-up fee.
But ittiz not a prob as you gotta reserve it one week in advance as they gotta have an employee runnin' the thang. Even had I been able to wring the dough outta you guys, they wouldn't budge on the week's notice bit.
Tried to wrest a key to the toyddie(s) from them. No *go* there either... LOL!!!
Good news izz, we're not gonna be charged a permit fee as ittiz winter, and the electrical outlet on the east widdo pavillion works. (The one in the west one duzzunt. They had a guy go check... ("Czech"??)
Izz Mom doin' coffee again this year?
I'm bringing Chile Cheeze Dip. PHALEN *that*, I don't know what I'm bringing... :)
All ewes Lem's lovers... Iffun you want sumpin' from Lem's, email me with your preferences. I'll pick it up fur you.
Do we need my smoker?
Will bring Coleman stove for the carn-on-the-cob... I'm bringing that, too. Furgot about that.
I'll have to look at home for plates and plastic silverware. Can't remember if we have any left or not. It might not be till morning though before I know. (We're north today.)
I was there for Tyler's entrance. It was one of the most incredible things to experience in my life!
That would be President's Day that your birthday falls on. LOL!! I'm sure that would have nothing to do with giving the whole company the day off, would it??????

So, Regis, SHAME ON YOU! You should NOT have had "with a vet" as the anagram for Hewitt.
Your bad, Regis. You should have stated, "Ittiz an anagram for 'A' Hewitt."
That brings me to "Midway", Regis...
You've not been around these partz ("Partz izz partz!") too long, have you, Reg???
Ain't no way, Jose, you can take "way" and "amid" and get Midway. Nope. You gots an xtra letter in thar...
You get " a Midway."
Regis, shamey, shamey, shamey. Your bad again.
May I suggest, Reg, you put a titch more effort into the mind-set and feel o'the community you COURT? Get your MEASUREs ON THE RIGHT TRACK.
Sheesh, Reg. MAKE IT EASIER TO LOCATE YOUR WAY....
