Here are the first three clues. New clues will be available at The Citizen at 8 AM and 5 PM daily starting tomorrow, June 5th. The hunt ends at Noon on Sunday.
If you find the Golden Spike, immediately return it to The Citizen office, located at 14491 North Forest Blvd., to qualify for a $250 instant cash prize.
The Citizen will also award an additional $750 to the finder if he/she has a 2008 Hugo Good Neighbor Days "Golden Spike" button.
I spent a little time in Hugo over lunch today. I feel pretty good about Oneka Lake Park. It's a huge open area with lots of grassy and swampy areas to search. If you head out there, please wear boots and take a garbage bag along with you. It's very wet and alot of misc trash lying around. I'm not sure if I'll have any time to look again.
I was thinking that clue kind of leads me to that Air Field along side 61 there in Hugo!?!?! but I don't know of a park in that part of Hugo?? anyone?? I dont know Hugo all that well!! so I couldn't say!!
Oneka Park is the only place I do know of in Hugo. We cut our Christmas tree at the tree farm at the end of Greene Road and adjacent to the south end of the lake. Clue 5 says, "City folk pine for open spaces". Maybe they mean the city folk who drive out there for their pine tree? And look at the border of trees along the tree farm property on an aerial map. "These lands have borders you may not pass". Definitely a border.
That's all I know. You might be on to something, MrMedHunter.
5th Annual Hunt begins Tuesday, June 24 and continues until found.
First clue released at 7:00 pm, remaining clues available daily at participating sponsors, Parks and Recreation offices, and www.cityofroseville.com/Parks
Lucky finder wins $500 in local gift certificates, prize package doubles if finder registered their Rosefest button by the Tuesday deadline!
White Bear Lake starts June 19th, can't remember if we need a button for that one. I don't really even care about the prize, I just want to end those women's streak.

Beginning Monday, June 16thÂ…..new clues will be posted here daily at noon. Other posting locations are: the Farmington City Hall and the Farmington Police Station.
Special thanks to Police Chief Linquist for agreeing to hide the medallion and developing the clues.
Clues are given out each week that lead to the location of a special horseshoe hidden somewhere on public property. Whoever finds the horseshoe and has a 2008 Dan Patch Days button wins $100. The lucky winner also gets to keep the commemorative horseshoe and will be invited to ride, with their family, in the Dan Patch Days carriage in the parade on Sunday, June 22.
