Sounds like there will be a Rehash Bash at the Mason Lodge. I'm sure there will be other satellite gatherings as well.

so was i. until my swedish bride informed me that lutefisk is the norwegian scourge and there's nothing swedish about it. besides it would be a good way to ensure people didn't want to come back

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! If I eat sliders and lutefisk, David will never be able to use his lodge again!

Actually, my very Swedish grandfather, Inks' very Swedish grandparents and parents were very much into Lutefisk so I'm sure it isn't just a Norwegian thing.

Swedish meatballs are da BOMB! Problem is, if you've been eating Yarusso's, your stomach may need a United Nations Resolution to settle it down...

What would happen if 30-40 of us got in line tonight at the PP? Anyone actually done that after the puck was found?

If I could be at the RHB, I'd make one of my Grandma's authentic swedish recipes.

But if anyone is wanting to make Swedish meatballs and doesn't have a recipe, here is a good one:

Swedish Meatballs

2 lb. ground beef

2 lb. ground pork

1 egg, beaten

Put in large bowl

¾ c. milk

¼ c. water

2 T. cream or half-and-half

1 medium onion chopped fine, sautéed, cooled

½ - ¾ c. fine bread crumbs

salt

pepper

Mix well. Roll into small balls, about 1” diameter.

Put on large cookie sheet. Brown in 350 degree oven approximately 7-10 minutes. Put in large casserole or roaster and bake at 325 degrees for one hour (covered). Make gravy from drippings.

I also have what is supposed to be the spaghetti and meatball recipes from Geno's (formerly of 600 block of Payne Avenue, overlooking Swede Hollow) - if anyone wants the recipes let me know. I've made them - they are close if not the exact same. I miss Geno's.

GenoÂ’s spaghetti sauce (serves 4)

¼ c. olive oil

½ onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cans tomato puree (total 28oz)

2 small cans tomato sauce (total 30oz)

salt and pepper

1 t. dried basil or 1 T. fresh basil, chopped

1 T. beef base

¼ - ½ c. water

Warm oil over low heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook 5-10” or until onion is translucent. Add puree and sauce, season with salt and pepper. Taste. If bitter, add a pinch of sugar. Add basil, beef base and a little water. Simmer at least 1 hour. Sauce is done when oil rises to top.

GenoÂ’s meatballs (makes 12 meatballs)

1 lb. hamburger (finely ground)

2 ½ slices bread (or bread crumbs) (if using ready-made bread crumbs – use the amount stated on the container for 1 lb. of meat or less)

1 egg, beaten

salt, pepper, garlic salt

1 t. dried basil or 1 T. fresh basil, chopped

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Put hamburger in medium bowl. Wet bread slices with water, squeeze water out, tear bread into pieces and add to bowl. Add egg and seasonings. Mix well. Roll into 2-3” balls. Bake 30” in baking dish. Cover midway through baking time, rather than letting the meatballs get too crusty/brown. Once baked, may be added to spaghetti sauce.

Serve over cooked pasta.

To my team I say: Thanky!

Thanks to Obb's, Kelly's Depot, and Yarusso's

Don't forget that the Vulcan Victory Dance is on Saturday and it is a blast. I know that Lilman, Pilotshatguy and myself will be there for sure and I am sure some other cooler crew folk will make their way down for good times. I really enjoyed dinner last night. It felt like a family get together without the awkwardness! I know that I say it every year, but this year I really want to stick around the boards all year round. I am getting a GPS so geocaching will be on the free time priority list and will get me away from watching so much Canadian Parliament on C-Span.

We love ya Art and would be glad to have you hang with us all year long.

That goes for everyone. You annual posters should stop by every now and again throughout the year. You're like our out-of-state family that only stops in on holidays. We want you all the time!!!

Absolutely. Last I heard that pay-to-post fee is good for the WHOLE year, not just ONCE a year. I believe in the last 12 months we've had...

A few pizza dates,

A bonfire or two,

MORE MEDALLION HUNTING IN OTHER TOWNS,

A few rounds of disc golf,

Cooler Kids got their own message thread,

A few geocache events,

A lot of bad jokes,

A few good jokes,

A few Holiday parties (St. Patricks is a Tuesday this year)

Open heart surgery,

Rocky Horror Picture Show,

etc...etc...etc...
