This is a job you've had before? Hope you can share more when you know what's happening. Hoping even more you will find the right job with more $.

oh whoops, no. I didn't have this job before.

I had a phone interview with a man in California 2 weeks ago.

They called me and said they want me to go in and meet the manager for a last interview. It's through an employment agency so I'm worried about how to get more $ AFTER the 3 months. How do I tell them that I HAVE TO HAVE the money they pay the agency AFTER the 3 months. I can't live on their current offer but I could "get by" on the offer PLUS what they pay the agency per hour.

Tell them as you have the pen in your hand ready to sign the job offer paper sitting in front of you. And that's when you also ask how long until you can post internally.

We'll both be waiting for that 90 days to be up ASAP.

Grats Babes!! I'm sure you'll kick your competitors butt!

Having a mass e-mail sent out by my current manager to the entire region mentioning my promotion and receiving lots of grats and support from all kinda of people. Including a number of fellow co-workers who I was up against for the position. Feels pretty good.

Today is payroll and I'll be handing out everyone's checks for the last time. I'll miss that since I got to see every manager in the region at least once every two weeks anyway. I got to know most of them fairly well during my 8 month stint in HR.

I start tomorrow morning and am a bit anxious over it at the moment. But feel confident nonetheless.

Thank ya dahlin'

Yeah, my new boss is off on Monday & Tuesday so she wanted to introduce me to my management staff at an early morning meeting tomorrow. I'll be bouncing back and forth for a couple of weeks I'm sure. Nobody knows this payroll project that I've been working on at all and I'll have to have time to train someone soon. That's one scary thing of putting all your eggs in one basket. I told them that I needed a partner. What if I left the company? Sorry Charlie.

Good sign you're starting tomorrow - a lot of places that have 'trial' periods of three or six months would start you AFTER June 1st - then they can drag employment out to past Thanksgiving before any benefits would kick in (or kick you out).

BTW - Who hands out payroll checks to the one that handles payroll? Are you essentially paying YOURSELF? Dammit, where's my tip?

caught a break today...

about 3 weeks ago wanted to refi house to get $ to reroof house and get new windows...

last week when it was blasted hot the wind tore up about 15 shingles...

The appraiser tells me wasn't that bad and not enough to cover my deductible, but he tells me that it had hail damage and the roof qualifies for a 70% replacement.

 whew...I was worried as I didn't want to go back up on that roof to fix those broken ones.

did i mention the appraisal came in low :frown:

I'm wondering if their isn't an insurance scam in there somewhere. ...

being a new homeowner 10 years ago ....we too had an appraiser come take a look. technically they were just looking at the blown down broken fence. He decided to take a look around and threw a few extra bucks out for a broken window and some hail damaged siding. ... he also said they would cut a check for hail damage to the roof. unbenounced to us we cashed the check - who wouldn't want extra money?

used it twords Disney (really only a $ dent in the trip). And technically only 10% of what a real new roof would have cost us.

I think it's a common thing that they purposely check out roofs and throw a low ball figure out before the homeowner knows it.

Get an estimate BEFORE cashing the check from your insurance company. Let them haggle it out OR let your insurance company know how much it is REALLY gonna cost and make them pay 70% of that.

Hey Cooler - how was the Memorial weekend boat ride? Did you all go? Was it enjoyable? Did you have a good group and take over the boat?

We were on our traditional family trip to the great northwoods. It was so wonderful. We watched an eagle swoop down and grab a fish from about 200 yards away. We sat in a boat pulling in sunnies and he swooped down and came up with the fish, it was so impressive. Awesome extra long weekend with my favorite people in the world.

I was able to con a couple non-coolers into riding the Paddleford on Memorial Day. I gave the other four tickets to a family of strangers. I was unable to convince enough passengers for a complete take over, but we were able to commander the upper deck bow seats for the best views. Got some pics of the storm drains along the river. The tour indicated where Pig's Eye's Homestead was and something about Fountain Cave. Now I have a destination for further exploration Afterwards we ate at that floating house boat/restaurant and grabbed dessert at Cafe Latte.

Were you on the Padelford or the Northrup magpie? We were hanging out at the front of the second boat that was tied to the other. Were you in the very front of the front boat? We never went up there since it was so crowded. Sorry we missed you if you were on our boat.

I am an Uncle again! My sis-in-law just had kid #5.

Boy - 10 pounds, 12 ounces, 21 1/2 inches.

Their smallest kid was born at almost 9 pounds, the most recent one was almost 13! I hope they are done now - they have a 3 BR house that was too small two kids ago.

My OTHER Sis-in-Law is ALSO due for a baby this week. We're on the 'standby' list for babysitting my 2 year old nephew this weekend (just in case).

I had no idea that southwest had a first class? Of course I only fly them up and down the west coast - I guess they only have one size of plane out here (small) - way cool!
