Oh, you sissies! I'm willing to drive an hour and a half just to play in the rain. I'll just make sure to bring that #3 Hyzer in case of lightning. Even God can't hit a #3 Hyzer...
It's 2:00 on Friday - I'm heading to Acorn Park. Cluey, Jana, BFG and a few others have my cell number - no beer in the trunk this time, but a social call afterwards would probably not be turned down...
You're fine. I think there was a clause where you get to play free if you consume at least a case during a round. Otherwise you pay. Weird how you were able to play free after only hole 8 :pbpt:
I think it's something that's been discussed for years. Since budgets are tight, I supposed they felt it was time to implement it. I hope it means some of that money will go back into cleaning up the disc parks and maybe a new bench or two.
There's real benches they could put in that would last - more than just a fallen log and a couple rail spikes holding it in place. Probably cost around $1200 a seat (with concrete) but they'd last forever.
North Valley was busy today. No discin' police looking for badges. I had several unbelievably excellent drives despite the wind, but my approach shots were lacking.
Yeah, I heard that NV could be pretty lax on enforcement all year. It sounds like Fairway Flyerz won the bid to run the pro shop at Kaposia, and will be able to do so sometime in June. That is when you should expect enforcement at Kaposia. I also think that day passes will be sold at the pro shop, although I am not entirely sure on that. I have always hoped that Kaposia would eventually have a vendor selling stuff like discs/beverages/etc, so I am glad to see this becoming a reality. I also hope people buy passes before they are forced to. Showing some financial commitment on our part will definitely help South St. Paul and IGH take disc golf and their courses seriously. NV is already in the process of getting a makeover, which will end up being pretty extensive.
Also, just so you all know, 5, 6, and 7 at Kaposia are now long. 8 is still short, and no ravine holes have opened yet.
I haven't been to North Valley for close than a year. The 1st Tee area is nicely redone, a couple of the tee boxes look cleaned up, and they dumped a ton of mulch and some plantings in the woods around the holes behind the softball field. It's much more open back there. It seemed very clean despite the wind blowing all kinds of tree crap around.
The blue paint labeling for the holes on the paths and a lot of the tee boxes is virtually invisible now and really needs a new paint job.
Ya it Sucks I have to head in to St.Paul Tomorrow and I also have to do a Computer job tomorrow but it pays on top of my Umemploment!! So I cant wine to much!
Looking at C.P. Adams Park in Hastings THIS Sunday afternoon.
Dunno exactly what time yet - I am carpooling north of Mille Lacs Saturday for a birthday party and as yet don't know when my parents want to drive back.
Winter Carnival Disc Sports Festival -- This event is a Disc Sports Festival, showcasing Disc Golf and Ultmate Frisbee and fundraising for the Second Harvest Heartland Food Shelf.
My daughter went diskin' the other day, and had fun, goes to school up in Bemidji. They have a new disk course up there.
She has a birthday coming up and I was thinking a set of disks would be kind of cool for her.
Been a long time since I have thrown a frisbee, but was wondering what would be a decent set for her to start out with, where a good place to get them would be and any other ideas you may have...
Definitely get her a Stratus. That is the best starter all around disc hands down. I would say get her a Stratus for most shots, a Magnet for putting, and either a XL or a Leopard for longer drives. That would be a good starter set.
I personally think the Roc is the best all around disc for beginners with only one disc that covers driving to putting. But bfg is right with those three discs for the various things they do.
Dick's Sporting good sells a 3 pack with a driver, mid range and putter for cheap - like $20 or so. They are not high-end discs, but if this is for someone that may not be heavily committed to the sport it's a cheap way to get into the 'real' thing.
yeah.... they have BIG plans instore for the park, coming up...
$30 for both parks and they're sold at both IGH and SSP P&R Depts.
If someone gets #17 I'll trade you for my #11 and a beer
does that mean that I've been sneaking in, this entire time?
I blame it on the alchohol.
If you're giving up 11 I get it. gggrrrrr
1223 personal Joe!
