We thought it was hysterical-- it was right around the time Benjamin Button was released so there were a lot of jokes on that line too. We contacted the DMV and they sent us a corrected permit, but he still has the old one.
1) There's no cover charge. Anyone can come, free of charge. If you want to eat, you pay. If you want to drink, you pay. I don't know how many different times and ways I can say that there's NO GODDAMN COVER CHARGE.
2) The restaurant has applied for the late night serving permit, but as of now they haven't heard one way or the other, so the party "officially" ends at 10. "officially" just means that it becomes a private party at 10.
3) Music hadn't been discussed because nobody had asked the DJ.
THERE's NO GODDAMN COVER CHARGE.
you've been about as clear as a mud fence and expected us to either deal with it or come up with something better. well let me explain something to you. there's no way of knowing whether something is better if people looking for something better don't have answers to questions.

One huge way of being helpful would be to actually invest someone with some authority to make definitive decisions so that they can in turn make definitive statements about those decisions. Otherwise all anyone is doing is coming up with options, not plans, and options are by nature fluid. I just don't know how you expect to get solid answers about a plan if the group can't give a solid answer that they're actually going to go with some version of that plan.
Thank you Ares for posting incorrect information that threw some select members into a tizzy. I don't know what we would do without you.
Clearly if RB hadn't been using covert ops with setting this whole thing you would have somehow been able to find the perfect location for us and no one would have any problems at all with what you found. You would then FINALLY be given your proper title as King of the Cooler Crew.
like i said to esd, if i'm going to get accused of trying to make snotty posts (Redbear, "Pre-Dig Gig, Rehash Bash and other Cooler events" #2951, 22 Dec 2010 2:32 pm, a comment that was also uncalled for), i'm gonna be guilty of it, especially in response to an unwarranted dig at me.
aw, as for him doing a half-assed job, i've already talked about his unresponsiveness to the questions that were posed of him; that makes it incredibly difficult to decide whether a better option is around. i wasn't even expecting solid answers, just acknowledgement of the questions' existence would have kept a lot of heat off of him. whether he likes it or not, he created that heat. yes there is a certain amount of heat that comes from doing anything for this group; i'm no stranger to that heat, nor are any of the moderators, nor are anyone who has organized any of our past events. its just the nature of the group because we're not all going to agree. but it is something that one takes on when one volunteers to do something.
as for being king, well i've already declared myself emperor, so being a king would be something of a regression
I for one am not on this site every waking hour of the day and often when I do check back in there are so many posts that have been posted it is very hard to keep track of the ranting that is going on...
Thank you RB for standing out in traffic in getting this set up this year.
Nimrod, for the last time there's no goddamn cover charge.
This year's event brings in a new twist. The Pre-Dig Gig is an official Winter Carnival event, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Saint Paul Heritage and Festival Foundation, and the St. Paul Parks and Rec Department (which ultimately benefits us all as hunters).
If there is no covercharge where are these "proceeds coming from? Again I REALLY am just curious.
Kudos to everyone for thinking & planning this far in advance. I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet.

Boy, I wonder who will take that word literally? :eyeroll: :eyeroll:
Vicky's cousin is trying out, and has invited us to be there (Wed. night 1/5) and we know what time (6:30PM) and where (Prom Center, Oakdale), but haven't been able to find out any other info except what is at this website: . Apparently the tickets are $25. For that price, I'm guessing there is something more than watching people try out? Has anyone been involved in this? Is there food available? For those in my party coming right from work, this is the crucial question!
Thanks for any info! Klondike Kate Tickets
She said you could probably call Prom Center and ask.
Ticket price is for the "Show" - You have the wannabe's trying out as well as past kate's performing and the current kate saying her good byes... Not sure how many contestants there are - but if I remeber right they all sing 2 songs - then they narrow the field then those selected sing another song - then the "crowning"
No food - Cash bar
Seating goes fast for general admission if not there early to get a table - lots of standing.
There is a lot of talking that goes on in the back of the room as most are carnival people so the closer up front or to the side the better...
I will be going and it is a lot of fun if you have never been... AND the contestants really do love the support of friends - it helps them really get into the part and show off!
I called the Prom Center.
Here is the info:
Food is available for purchase at $3-6 per item and the menu includes (there may be additional items):
Soup or chili
BBQ sandwich with fries
Sliders with fries
Just fries
Packaged dessert items (caterer didn't know what those items are going to be)
Cash bar. There may be drink tickets, but the caterer with whom I spoke had no idea how that was going to work.
last year i think there were 30 of us there equating to 3 tables. since the cost has always been the same, whatcha all who are going say we start thinking about tables now?
